Exactly, people are acting like you HAVE to be a certain person with certain features to be from a certain country. Certain countries have such a deep history that you cannot really tell what the “roots” are, there have been different historical events, different kingdoms and such and you cannot just tell.

My boyfriend and I are from the same culture and people don’t believe it because he’s a more darker, caramel color skin tone and I’m light-skinned, almost pale. They say, “oh you both don’t look Puerto Rican!” And I say to them, “Well, how do you think Puerto Ricans are supposed to look like?”
