I've been playing competitively for a while now, and this is the perfect guide for beginners and those looking to step up their game. Nice job Killerspin.
Hadn't played in decades, these tutorials are excellent. I was originally taught by Sol Schiff as a kid and later by Bernie Bukiet, both of whom became my patients as an Orthopedic Surgeon.
@meterypsy it´s not a characteristic only of rubber, but about most things in general, it´s a physics principle. every action creates an equal reaction on the opposite direction
I think this would be a really useful video....if I could hear any of the explanation over the Death Metal soundtrack at a million decibels! I really appreciate people who put in the effort to share their knowledge and helps others improve, but someone has taken a conscious decision to add that soundtrack so presumably they thought that was a good idea!!
it depends on the move you make. but in general it the spin stays the same. u can change spin or accelerate it for example with a spin-block. i think in the video they try to explain that the spin stays the same but it has another direction. and with spin-block u can accelerate the spin u see on 1:10. u have to make a little top spin move very early over the table right after the ball hit the table.if u can do that shot its very hard for your opponent to hit the ball again cuz of accel. spin.
hit the ball with a flat hand that is facing 45 degrees towards your opponent. if you want it -> way then you want your hand closed on the backhand stroke, but the easiest way to counter this is to recognise the sidespin along horizontal axis asap and put your bats bottom edge 1cm off the table, 1.5 cm behind the impact point, this will not allow it to strafe the table (and therefore evade your bat) and also reverse the spin so your opponent gets the effect, if you hit the ball (to be continued)
I think there is an error at 1:06. The direction of the spin reverses upon contact? Is this referring to the spin relative to the last person who hit the ball? The spin, as observed by the ball, does not suddenly reverse unless the swing is powerful enough to counter the spin. One opponent's top-spin is the same as the other opponent's under-spin; without this fact, the explanation of cause and effect is very confusing.
The racket changes the spin of the ball because it changes which way it rotates but because it changes which way it moves (and the ball still rotates the same 'direction').
no its not a mistake. Thats a characteristic of a normal rubber :). Spin reverses on contact with the rubber, so topspin when go back will be topspin... On the other hand, if its not a normal rubber (the player use, antispin or use a wood surface, the spin will stay the same, that is topspin will become backspin when it returns). Just try if for yourself and see =D
I agree, hitting an underspin ball, off of the rubber will result in the downward trajectory, incramentally arcing into a top spin axis. To better illustrate, imagine if your tire was turning at 2,000 rpm's, and suddenly it stopped dead..... there would definitely be a bump, causing forces to transfer from the tire in a backward, up, motion, causing you to spend $50, within at least a week, on a front end alignment.
you are referring to newtonian physics (as in Newton's laws), not relativity. friction causes the ball to change spin direction. the force of friction between the surface of the ball, and the surface it's bouncing off of is strong enough to reverse the direction of the spin.
as you bring your hand down, it will give you underspin, ie backspin, this will make it land on the table and stop but instead of going toward your opponent, it will make in effect a right angle maneuvre and make the return near impossible. i won a tournement on this move so dont try it, ok. it will probabl fail so all i say is be careful and be ready for a dangerous return be getting into a forehand ready stand will you weakest leg leading (nearest the table) and (to be continued)
smash it as hard as possible as it rises with the aim of getting it to bounce over the opponents head. im not very good at table tennis but ive got a*'s in physics so i know what im talking about. i hope you enjoy yourself. DK
i dont spin it like that i spin it so that it hits near the end of their table and then the ball bounces back towards the net from their side, this would screww them over bad
man my advice is to keep playing and just watch other who is better and learn for them. Not saying that Im good but that is how I learn how to play ping pong
hmm, I guess I didn't know that I was jealous of your "likes". Seems like you know the answer to everything, if so, what do you think i should do today?
The spin doesn't reverse lol otherwise a topspin would hit the other bat and make it do a topspin. Where it actually should do an "underspin" or as i say downspin.

I watched this video on interschool sports day. Thank you for the help. I won!!!!

Great video but the background music was just too loud.
the music makes no sense and is interfering with the actual dialog.
prashanth kumar na
this is the best video of this kind i've ever seen:)
what's up with the music?!?!
Tried to make ping pong rock
this is the first video that i have learn to play table tennis when this video is first came out
@mynameisjavin I'm always look at how the opponent swings. Im not sure if its the way your supposed to but it always worked for me.

Getting that 90s vibe. Love it

the music too loud brader...
I'd like to see the rest of this. I can't return the short side spin serves. Table Tennis is a crazy game, but I like it.
finally a left hand player video...wowwww love it ;-)

is there ever gonna be any follow up to this??
I Was Wondering the Same, I kept looking everyWhere for the Follow Up Video, He Kept Saying WE WILL SPECIFY THAT. But He Never did,, SMH

@meterypsy if you push a ball with long pips the spin will also be the same :)
I wish you guys could turn up the music cuz I CANT HEAR A FUCKING SHIT YOURE SAYING
Hahahahaha
Please shut the music off.. Its really annoying and difficult to concentrate on what's being said
Saqib Khan oof you must be real enthusiastic about ping pong
Shut what wrong with you
What is the difference between three star balls and one star balls and do you even get four and five star balls?
Music is 🔥🔥🔥
Song name??
you are referring to newtonian physics (as in Newton's laws), not relativity.
friction causes the ball to change spin direction. the force of friction between the surface of the ball, and the surface it's bouncing off of is strong enough to reverse the direction of the spin.
especially the contact point part
i never really thought of it like that
thanks for this lecture
What about cleaving the ball?
as you bring your hand down, it will give you underspin, ie backspin, this will make it land on the table and stop but instead of going toward your opponent, it will make in effect a right angle maneuvre and make the return near impossible. i won a tournement on this move so dont try it, ok. it will probabl fail so all i say is be careful and be ready for a dangerous return be getting into a forehand ready stand will you weakest leg leading (nearest the table) and (to be continued)
how to serve side spin with front to back axis (mentioned in 0:45)
this type of serve is to be shown by step by step which as shown here
and to technical
what about grappling?
I agree with you on this one.
smash it as hard as possible as it rises with the aim of getting it to bounce over the opponents head. im not very good at table tennis but ive got a*'s in physics so i know what im talking about. i hope you enjoy yourself. DK
@alirat5
You're asking people who are watching a table tennis vid if they play table tennis? Sure this is a rhetorical quesion right?
wow! great vid
can someone tell me how to do 0:54 ?
an inverted rubber catapults the ball out with its sponger and you will get topspin from a topspin ball.
I watch this video for the aesthetic and cool music
niceee! finally they put some scientific vids into seeing spins =)
song name?????
thanks
That moment when you can't find your phone 1:24
@crazyphilly555 : hit the ball under with a horizontal stroke.. :D
What if you can't spell you're or ball?
i dont spin it like that i spin it so that it hits near the end of their table and then the ball bounces back towards the net from their side, this would screww them over bad
@nik0lhc If you can't use the space bar you're lost.
Nice

nice...
I'm on the way to master the back and fore spin...:D Topspin is not suiting with me..
good
this would hav been helpful when i was a noob in pingpong but now that i'm not it has no use for me
Cool
The music is very loud
wher r we,?

What's with the music
This music makes me feel like I am watching some brutal, murderous kickbox or something...
I watch table tennis videos to help me improve in tennis... it works.. hahhahahahha
@AAurel1 sometimes your lucky believe me
REMINDS ME OF SCHOOL........
If you keep picking out the little details in a person's post, you're dead.
You won't be lost fi you click "show comment" to go to the beginning of the journey
Wow 10 years ago
The music is too loud (and annoying), the instructions are interesting
i'm not a native english speaker and the music don't let me listen at all..
I came here looking for Gyro Zeppelli... no... anyone
wow
Two years ago and you're still jealous of my likes.
Video very good, but that Music ruined everything 😶
Nice video, but the music just does not fit for a ping pong video
0;41 the spin is
if you can't stop writing "if you can't", you're lost.
music too loud cant hear u
If you can't watch the video without commenting the same exact thing, you're loss.
First!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROCKKK ONNNN
Yeah, it's pretty generic for a porno soundtrack
If you are lost, you are lost.
@AAurel1 ya.. figured that the hard way >_>
Eu ganhei-te
Nice spin...i hate ghost spin!!!
This is mostly a basic spins
They don't show you iw to do the spins they just show u the type of spin
1:57 ITS A GHOST BALL!
If you are Nemo, you're lost.
antonio nunes
So this is how my friend kills me every time we play...
gfy I don't use spin that much and I am one of the best in my school
At your school
Fdsffsdf Dfsfdsf thanks
how good is your school?
Greendanpark Skywars and More! Not the best admittedly, but that's a matter of point of view
does any 1 here play table teniss? i got a joola kool extrm
@Christmas7995 it's obvious that this is merely careless typing
great video
bad music
when i play tt
i usually think of music like the globetrotter theme
not generic rock loops.......
If you are Zoro, you ARE lost.
If you cant see what spin is in the boll your lost
