For I am the LORD your God. (Leviticus)
When Trump re-enters the White House, it will come as no surprise that "Trump 2.0" may disrupt long-standing domestic and foreign policies that have shaped the United States for nearly half a century. How Trump intends to make America "even greater" will undoubtedly become a hot topic of debate. For a time, both "Trump fans" and "Trump critics" have been vocal in expressing their opposing views-unsurprisingly so. Some regard him as the embodiment of the "American Dream," describing him as "the light of the world," while others compare him to a modern-day "Hitler," accusing him of destroying the nation. These extreme perspectives, however, are overly dramatic, and both sides may ultimately face disappointment.
Regardless of one’s opinion or the eventual outcome, Trump’s return to the political arena serves as a reminder: the glory the U.S. enjoyed since the early 20th century is fading, if not stagnating. Concerns about the nation’s future have become increasingly urgent. The days of unrivaled greatness appear to be slipping away. Action is needed-swift and decisive-to "stop the losses" before others overtake us. In this context, Trump’s slogans of "greatness," "two genders," and opposition to "diversity" resonate with many, appealing to those longing for a return to tradition. These slogans also strike a chord with a middle class gripped by a sense of crisis, yearning for clarity in "Where is America?" and "Where are our traditions?"
However, let us not forget: Making America Great Again (MAGA) requires more than just shouting slogans. Without a solid ideological foundation and a deep understanding of human nature, it’s impossible to chart a meaningful path toward greatness, excellence, and value. Empty slogans only risk making people naive and more childish. Unfortunately, Trump doesn’t seem to prioritize ideo-logical depth. "I’m a businessman," he says. Businessmen focus on transactions-buying, selling, and balancing interests. While slogans may sway hearts temporarily, souls cannot be transformed by negotiations or material gains alone.
Though no one is perfect, staying perpetually "too excited" or "too pessimistic" is dangerous. Blind fanaticism- “I support everything he says” or “I worship him”-is just as harmful as extreme hatred- “I wish he were in jail.”
Let’s return to the fundamentals. Reflecting on the 18th and 19th centuries, the United States was built on principles like freedom, equality, human rights, divine authority, and moral accountability. These principles stem from a single core idea: the fear of God. When these values are abandoned, God is abandoned. A nation’s prosperity depends on governing the hearts of its people, using systems and laws to align them with justice and holiness. For much of the past century, America thrived
because its people revered God. However, ideological renewal doesn’t typically arise from capitalism, industrialization, or technological advancements. These forces often lead to revolutions that pull people further away from God, driven instead by self-interest.
Allowing influential entrepreneurs to dominate politics narrows the competition between political parties and marginalizes the voices of different ethnic groups. Individuals like Musk, Zuckerberg, and Bezos control wealth equivalent to the assets of the entire middle class. It is naive to think that such figures would sacrifice their own interests for the good of the people. Their support for Trump-or any politician-will always be tied to their own agendas. Human nature does not naturally gravitate toward selfless sacrifices for freedom, equality, and justice, let alone spiritual transformation.
Consider the painting in the Capitol rotunda depicting General George Washington resigning his commission to Congress in 1783. Why commemorate such a moment? Washington, as a founding father, set an example by stepping away from power, showing that the true ruler of the country is not any individual but God. This act underscored the greatness of Washington’s leadership, reminding all that power should be balanced, the people’s interests prioritized, and the corruption of human nature restrained. It highlighted the importance of a system rooted in checks and balances, where leaders serve with humility and accountability. The foundation of the nation was built on a fear of God, emphasizing that ultimate authority rests with Him. Washington’s act served as a model to teach future leaders the importance of this principle, which is why the painting hangs in Congress.

From this, it becomes clear that any attempt to consolidate power through division or abandon foundational values risks undermining classical principles of freedom and equality. At the same time, if no one rises to lead the nation back to its traditions and away from complacency and self-indulgence, the country risks losing God’s blessing entirely. Thus, if God no longer holds first place in the hearts of the people, true greatness will be impossible to achieve. To make the country greater, we must first make God greater in our hearts. Allowing God to be the ultimate guide is the foundation of effective governance. Let God be God Again.
