This is another incredible addition to the mercedes benz fleet... I have never owned anything but a MB, can't wait to pick it up and enjoy it with my SL & S class.
Love our Ml350. Handles great , amazing get up and go ,grand kids love their TVs. We used to have Mustang Cobras , little different handling. But much easier to get in and out of.. Serves our needs... Works for flower delivery too...
@KenGold666 I see your point, but you ignore the fact the Q5 isn't a mid-size SUV such as the M Class but a small size one. Despite they both are 5 seaters, the Q5 is smaller (the ML has way more legroom at the backseat) and its engines are less powerful than those under the hood of the M Class (as far as the europe is concerned, the Q5 starts with a 143 hp diesel while the ML gets a 204 hp diesel as standard). According to me, it would be fair to compare it with the X5 or with the Touareg
As we see, MB has evolutionized the ML class the 3rd time to meet the expectations of customers and ML loyalists and exceed the competiton from german SUV rivals such as the 2012 VW Touareg, 2012 BMW X5 and even the 2012 Audi Q7. This 3rd Gen is a winner, has raised the bar in luxury, power, driver enjoyment, fuel efficiency while maintaining prices within the 2011 units which is good for these economic recession times.
I think it depends on where are you planning to use that- if it's town i think it's not necessary. But taking into consideration the difference in costs and difference in engines I think it's worth adding some money into it too. Always it's easier to travel (holidays or skies)
yea, but those were the models in the 70s. From the 1980s onward the Range Rover was in fact a luxury SUV with leather seats, air-con, power everything, and from the latter half of the 80s, air suspension was added. Fact is, the Range Rover was the first luxury SUV. Mercedes started producing plusher versions of the G wagononly from about 1992. Therefore, both RR and Merc's own G pre-date the ML. And let's not even start to talk about the Grand Cherokee, Land Cruiser 80, Trooper LS, Pajero etc
nice review - what are blue tooth capabilities - I would want to stream high quality blue tooth music from my smart phone or other device to the radio - I can do this right now on my ML320 CDI by putting a blue to adaptor on the ipod connection but sound quality is mediocre at best. Also does the radio allow for other inputs like an 3.5 mm connection to the radio to also stream music?
hey nice video but i wanna ask i got my mercedes ben m class yesterday and i was wondering does only specific models have the warm and cool cupholders cause i didnt get one on mine and my version is the gasoline version
ahhh, love australia, love holden, you guys have the sport ute, gm went backrupt and the g8 couldnt come here, you have awesome cars down there, how much of a mark up are they?
The Mercedes B class scored an impressive 97% out of 100% for adult protection, by far the best results i have seen out of all the cars tested by Euro Ncap.
I took a test drive in a VW Jetta Sportwagen today with a TDI, it has great torque, 1/2 the price of that and twice the mileage...but, if money were no object for me, the ML would be my choice...
man these things have come a LONG way! I had a 2001 ML55 and that thing was amazing. It just seem like mercedes SUV's are going a bit soft. You agree? I mean My 01 ML55 was a tank, the toughest thing I've drivin but these new ones seem very breakable haha
The Interior suprisingly looks a lot like an Infiniti, which isnt a bad thing at all but I was expecting a dash board layout similar to the ones found on the new GLK, E-class, S-class and 2012 C-class.
@djjeetmtl its not up to me, my dad drives the Range Rover and its comfortable but what i hate about it is the milage and every while we get a problem in it. i have audi S4 and im happy with it but dont know if my dad would replace his Range Rover with this ML, i hope tho but dont think so.
I understand that. Where I live (Brisbane, Aus) We have all those dealerships except for GMC and Chevy haha. But you gotta admit, German cars are higer quality than US built. (Im not discrediting American cars, theyre brilliant)
The U.S, is a very large country and cars are the best way to deal with our transportation needs. A US gallon is 3.8 liters and as of Sunday diesel was $4.20 while gas was $3.80. That's better than a 10% difference. My Cayenne averages 26 mpg so a diesel has to get 29-30 mpg to match the cost. It won't. Our 2009 Escalade Hybrid got 22 mpg for the 27,000 mles it was owned. That's about as good as the diesel and without the diesel problems.
Yes, but the original Range Rovers were not exactly luxurious SUVs like they are now. They were used as work trucks, and used by the military along side the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon.
Get the diesel? Regular at $3,30 and diesel at $3.96 is not cheaper. The .66 is almost a twenty percent increase while the milage between gas and diesel is much less. My 2011 Cayenne at the 9,000 mile mark is averaging 25 mpg. That's what the computer says and I haven't been able to prove it wrong.
you pay extra for diesel???? and still only get a crappy 25 mpg? In the Uk I have a 2 litre diesel saloon, no cost extra and I get 70 mpg on the motorway and 650 miles in every tank.
Range Rover is before all an off road SUV. It wasn't all that luxurious before. Mercedes came out with an SUV that is before all luxury. Hence why they invented the luxury SUV
@Semperfijo06 LOL! Instead being disappointed you should be proud since Highlander has the best reliablity record among all cars and SUV's. If Merc owners should be driving this car only for it looks like a Higlander that would be enough of a prestige for them.
you're not making any sense. Isn't an SUV, a proper one anyway, first and foremost an offroad vehicle?!! So NO Mercedes didn't invent the luxury SUV... Range Rover did and many other plush SUVs also came before the ML such as the Land Cruiser 80/LX450, Pajero/Montero, Isuzu Trooper/Acura SLX, Jeep Grand Cherokee among others
@Zazmiz well taste aside the Range Rover is the most capable .. by miles... the Lad rover.. being even on Discovery form is a quite capable SUV as well.. not as refined nor luxurious as the Range .. but still very capable.
Looks too Japanese on the outside. That being said it will still perform like a Benz should, will be comfortable, still have control/capability and nice solid build quality.
well look at second hand cars. after 5 years they are so cheap its worth to take a look. I personally wouldn't buy it new but thats just a matter of job/money.^^
haha I hate holden :P (theres a massive rivalry between ford and holden down here) As for mark ups, barely any. I got my XR6 Turbo ute for about $35k AUD. Only mark up is if theres a special edition
Happy new year to one & all! The 2012 ML has serious exterior design faults. The headlights are way too small. The grill is too large. Self-absorbed designers too narcisistic to recognise ugliness.
@MakeLoveNoBabiez Why making a comparison between the M-Class, which is a mid-size SUV, and a Volvo XC60 or an Audi Q5 which are small-size SUV's???; this doesn't make any sense, it's like comparing a VW passat with a jetta.
This is another incredible addition to the mercedes benz fleet... I have never owned anything but a MB, can't wait to pick it up and enjoy it with my SL & S class.
THIS IS WILL BE MY 3RD ML. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS TRUCK...NEVER EVER HAD A PROBLEM.
My dad has a 2007 ML 350, and it still looks as great as the day we bought it 4 years ago!
i like it that it comes with pedal shift, keyless go as a standard. amazing.
i work at a mercedes benz dealer in australia and im really looking forward to seeing this vehicle.
Jast, test drove it today, amazing SUV and looks a lot better then the rest
Love our Ml350. Handles great , amazing get up and go ,grand kids love their TVs. We used to have Mustang Cobras , little different handling. But much easier to get in and out of.. Serves our needs...
Works for flower delivery too...
Great review! Thanks for going through some of the buttons others never reviewed.
@KenGold666 I see your point, but you ignore the fact the Q5 isn't a mid-size SUV such as the M Class but a small size one. People, its 2012, the power of ART and Design is being taken to a new level. Be prepared to see "different" and "unique" car designs, not UGLY.
I've test drive this car earlier and trust me this car is beautiful!
@ftwelsh Actually, it was the Jeep Wagoneer. It was also the first SUV with Full time 4wd.
I think it depends on where are you planning to use that- if it's town i think it's not necessary. But taking into consideration the difference in costs and difference in engines I think it's worth adding some money into it too. Always it's easier to travel (holidays or skies)
Good review, Ron.
Great review and great SUV, the only detail is that Merc didn't create the segment. It was the Range Rover
yea, but those were the models in the 70s. Ron it looks and seems the same, just seems like a facelift, do you feel the same way?
nice review - what are blue tooth capabilities - I would want to stream high quality blue tooth music from my smart phone or other device to the radio - I can do this right now on my ML320 CDI by putting a blue to adaptor on the ipod connection but sound quality is mediocre at best. when is it coming out??
hey nice video but i wanna ask i got my mercedes ben m class yesterday and i was wondering does only specific models have the warm and cool cupholders cause i didnt get one on mine and my version is the gasoline version
ahhh, love australia, love holden, you guys have the sport ute, gm went backrupt and the g8 couldnt come here, you have awesome cars down there, how much of a mark up are they?
Looks fantastic. Looks like the CL class.
The Mercedes B class scored an impressive 97% out of 100% for adult protection, by far the best results i have seen out of all the cars tested by Euro Ncap.
The interior looks absolutely gorgeous
@itloads the prices are aligned to cheap loan countries. you can see it as a kind of chairity for countries who are in need of help
i really really like the look of this ml.
You agree? I mean My 01 ML55 was a tank, the toughest thing I've drivin but these new ones seem very breakable haha
i saw white one today morning in riyadh saudi arabia really i like it
Best mid-sized luxury SUV? This one (Mercedes M Class), BMW X5, Audi Q5, Cadillac SRX? Your view, please.
The Interior suprisingly looks a lot like an Infiniti, which isnt a bad thing at all but I was expecting a dash board layout similar to the ones found on the new GLK, E-class, S-class and 2012 C-class.
this is actually a mercedes i would consider buying
@djjeetmtl its not up to me, my dad drives the Range Rover and its comfortable but what i hate about it is the milage and every while we get a problem in it. i have audi S4 and im happy with it but dont know if my dad would replace his Range Rover with this ML, i hope tho but dont think so.
can it go of road ?
I understand that. Where I live (Brisbane, Aus) We have all those dealerships except for GMC and Chevy haha. But you gotta admit, German cars are higer quality than US built. (Im not discrediting American cars, theyre brilliant)
what car is that at 0:03 the interior looks nice
@s24atomic what? the Q5 is a 5 seater just like the M class so therefore it should be fair to compare it to the M-Class
The U.S, is a very large country and cars are the best way to deal with our transportation needs. A US gallon is 3.8 liters and as of Sunday diesel was $4.20 while gas was $3.80. Informative review thank you
Don't forget ESP, TCS, crumples zones, BAS brake assist, PRE-SAFE®, distronic plus includes PRE-SAFE® - brake and finally night vision assist.
yeah but Volvo has better safety results on crash tests. And considering the new high tech facility for crash testing they opened last year also.
Yes, but the original Range Rovers were not exactly luxurious SUVs like they are now. They were used as work trucks, and used by the military along side the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon.
@TheNaunihal
I believe it's coming next year.
As for 0:26, Mercedes launched the ML in 1997 while the first Range Rover was produced in 1970. So Benz's claim is incorrect.
whats with the music?
@itloads would u like me to buy u a pair?
Get the diesel? Regular at $3,30 and diesel at $3.96 is not cheaper. The .66 is almost a twenty percent increase while the milage between gas and diesel is much less. My 2011 Cayenne at the 9,000 mile mark is averaging 25 mpg. That's what the computer says and I haven't been able to prove it wrong.
actually range rovers used to be pretty spartan. they were only lined with leather after the rise of the luxury suv segment
power liftgate isnt standard on all ML models. i m getting one and encountered many which arent
you pay extra for diesel???? and still only get a crappy 25 mpg? In the Uk I have a 2 litre diesel saloon, no cost extra and I get 70 mpg on the motorway and 650 miles in every tank.
Mercedes didn't claim it. It was his words, not Merc's.
There were range rovers lined with leather far earlier than 1998..
my dad has ml 350 2004 and the rear bumper always breaks
the current range rover is easily the best luxury suv.
He's going to be left with one hot beer.
0:39 looks like its missing a front bumper. it needs more substance there.
Mercedes hasn't figured out how to do fold-flat rear seats in one step yet?
@RayzaBlayz Agree!
Why does the redesign look exactly like a Chevy Equinox? This is a new look for Benz as of 2012, but the Equinox has looked like that since 2010... :S
131 Degrees? what a shock before I realized that its not Celsius
Range Rover is before all an off road SUV. It wasn't all that luxurious before. Mercedes came out with an SUV that is before all luxury. Hence why they invented the luxury SUV
My Dream Car :)
@Semperfijo06 LOL! Instead being disappointed you should be proud since Highlander has the best reliablity record among all cars and SUV's. If Merc owners should be driving this car only for it looks like a Higlander that would be enough of a prestige for them.
There a number of brands claiming that they created the luxury SUV segment, I guess it's just them trying to make sales
you're not making any sense.
Agreed! :-)
Warming and cooling cup holders wasn't a new thing in 2012. If you've ever been in an Escalade, you'd know.
The previous gen is so much better looking.
LOOOOL Mercedes takes Cupholders to a whole new level, forget the SUV, it's all bout the cups!
@Zazmiz well taste aside the Range Rover is the most capable .. by miles... the Lad rover.. being even on Discovery form is a quite capable SUV as well.. not as refined nor luxurious as the Range .. but still very capable.
omg cup holders!!! I'm buying this car.
i love my ml 350. it's a 2013 very nice was gonna get the e class but the ml was cheaper.
Mercedes is on top........once again
the new dodge an chryslers had the cupholder option b4 this
boy this thing is a far cry from the first generation ML i'm driving around right now
I think you'll find the range rover invented the luxury SUV segment.
I was talking about Europe of course :P
@s24atomic or a gt and a edge
@Semperfijo06 Or a Kia Sportage from previous gen :S
i'm not a fan of the new headlight or tail light design, makes it look to soft in the front and to minivanish in the back
Looks too Japanese on the outside. That being said it will still perform like a Benz should, will be comfortable, still have control/capability and nice solid build quality.
Those front and rear skid plates should be available in brushed finish... they just look awful in chrome.
i cant say hopefully cuz i have an audi and i want the new 335i but my both my brothers and my dad drive Mercedes so.....
Range Rover killer?
well look at second hand cars. after 5 years they are so cheap its worth to take a look. I personally wouldn't buy it new but thats just a matter of job/money.^^
This is more disappointing than the time i found out Santa doesnt exist.
Then again, there's Mercedes and there's the Mercedes SEC 560!
Love that water too, man. haha
the past model was much much better looking
haha I hate holden :P (theres a massive rivalry between ford and holden down here)
As for mark ups, barely any.
Everything about this new iteration has been done before. It's not nearly as revolutionary as the video makes it seem.
Acura MDX. Game over.
In germany it costs 82 thousand
I still prefer the look of the 2nd generation
@MakeLoveNoBabiez Why making a comparison between the M-Class, which is a mid-size SUV, and a Volvo XC60 or an Audi Q5 which are small-size SUV's???; this doesn't make any sense, it's like comparing a VW passat with a jetta.
i don't like that they hidden the exhaust tips
i was going to write that but I'll just thumb urs up instead lol :P
it kinda looks like a volkswagon routan from the back
wish i can buy such a car one day...untill then its all a dream...lol
@abohthlool it won't look as good as the previous model ML63 AMG.
