It is the corner of a patio roof, not a 1000´ skyscraper, and in north Idaho, there could be 1000´ of glacial fill in the bottom of the valley. I would however remove the compromised footer, remember, the holes were dug wrong and partially refilled, so the "right" solution is to dig again, and dig deeper to find virgin ground.

Oh yes Spring is sure in the air! It's here too. I have plants going getting big and strong for the garden and new seeds just starting out. Leafy greens in and taters planted. I just don't think life gets any better than that. Love and hugs to all of you!

OMG - watching the three youngest share a bike ride brought me back to my childhood!!! My maternal grandma had 3 kids, and each of them had 5 kids... grandma saved her quarters (in the mid 60's, early 70's) in order to gift EACH family one bicycle! Granted, we were all farm kids and horses were the preferred mode of transportation, but those bikes sure got a workout! Thanks for the memories :)

The type of thing you can get away with when you have your own land. The things we got up to back in the day. I was born in 1961 late into my family. My brothers were all teenagers by the time I was 5. The older ones had a bomb of a car. They often had to roll it down the hill to get it started. My mother worked and they were on holidays once and looking after me. Put me on the bonnet, I thought it was great fun. lol. The neighbour rang my mother at work and told her she had better come home before they killed me 😂

Sure glad you caught the settling before any damage was done. When you get the water directed away from the house and porch area you'll be able to rest better too because the house does generate heat so freezing and melting will occur . You all are doing a wonderful job and everyone is having a great spring . Enjoy and stay safe. Fred.

      I totally agree with you.
Perhaps dig trenches right round your house and put in deep drains that takes the water away from your house. You can put stones in the trenches. The house is looking amazing and I so love all the hard work and effort you put into your amazing dream house. Please dont be disheartened. Your house is settling in tight for all kinds of future weathers. Everyone learns something or several somethings from anything we do, you're no different. You just share it here, and tell us how you fixed it and make light of it. You're all such an inspiration to everyone that watches your beautiful memories. There is something in every single video you share that stands out to me. It's right in my happy face so I shall tell you. Its several things really. It's the love, joy and happiness, as well as the fun loving togetherness that shines brightly in every single video. Even when you were all man down with covid. You're sure my favourite family. You are creating what many people wish they could have done. Well done. Sending you big hugs and much love. Xxxx

How do know that no damage occurred. Did they publish a structural or civil engineer report that I did not see? I am worried that there has been damage to the front wall, like they had on the side wall rafter. They should probably contact the guys (Michael and Sebastian, at Raise the Bar) who built the front porch roof. It could have been a result of the "giant" holes that were originally dug for the front posts. If they did not properly prepare the ground and did not pack the earth below the concrete piers or make the piers deep enough, then that would be the cause. They might need to do more to prevent future damage. (ua-cam.com/video/c7acLXBge-o/v-deo.html)

a lot of my family have coeliac disease ( gluten free ) including myself, luckily it has vastly improved over the years just the price is ridiculous, in the late 80's me and the wife had to look at every label in the supermarket as nothing was labelled as it is now and the selection was very small back then, here in the UK a small loaf of bread costs 2 to 3 pounds, packet of choc cookies is 1 pound 30p for 8 biscuits, in males it usually lies dormant until mid 40's, I blame the geeks who genetically modify the wheat, you will be amazed what foods have wheat in, certain pop, crisps, most soups, nearly all fast food even gluten free food has the chance to be cross contaminated as the servers are clueless about cross contamination

So hard to believe that you are going to have a new driver in the house. Wow, where did that time go! These precious children are growing up so so fast.
The horses are looking gorgeous and so fun to watch you ride them.
The house looks great and really coming along. Sorry about the sinking on the beam but I am sure you will get to the bottom of that and figure it out in a timely manner. Dishwasher has arrived! Yahooooooooo
Love the flooring you have picked and thinking it will be beautiful and cozy in winter and beautiful in the daylight of spring and summer and cozy warm in fall.
Excited to watch it all come together for your family..........it's going to be just a dream and beyond. So happy for you and all the hard work you pour into your work ........all your work!
    Blessings

It’s great that you are taking so much pride in finishing the house the way you want it. I’m certain that the drywall will look better than any “professional “. Flooring looks great but don’t be fooled that it won’t scratch. We scratched our new floor the first day we moved into our new house. Old English dark furniture polish took care of hiding the scratch

Good video, but what a bummer about the front post. Hope your fix will be permanent. Of all the seasons, I love spring the most. Aside from your thought that the cold of winter makes you appreciate it more, I love spring because it teams with new life. New chutes and buds on the trees, the greening of the grounds are like a big reset button. The promise of good things to come.

The flooring you picked out will be an awesome compliment to the home and the 37 shades of cream paint color...lol 😂😅 I'm glad to see the taping and mudding nearing the end, Jeremy isn't the only person needing a break from it, geesh.. Settlement on the foundation is almost a gimme when dealing with frost and thaws, a foundation company shouldn't have any problems remedying it. Love ya'll ❤️

The flooring is absolutely beautiful. And the lighter color walls are going to make it even more beautiful. Looking at the house and the garden and barndominium and pasture from above with the drone, looks absolutely stunning. Your land is like a dream home surrounded by mountains. And you get to live the dream. Sooooo jealous. Lol but really, I am so happy for you guys and I can't wait to see it finished. Love you 💞❤️

Exciting! Good choices! I'm sure you had the soil sampled and analyzed. Not just perk tested but composition. Dolomite is the worst for cold/hot and wet/dry expansion and contraction. Make sure you measure your footing, slabs too. Praise God for your springs and all seasons🤗

After weeks of searching and comparing, we went a laminate vinyl product that looks like distressed wood. It is waterproof and has a backing to it which gave it a little padding. The flooring was laid throughout the house upstairs and downstairs. Our 21yr old home overall basically got a redo inside and out. The bad water valve upstairs in a bathroom back in January just added misery to the process and kind of sped things up. So the house has been painted and there are new lighting and bathroom fixtures. We have a new roof and updated front porch. The kitchen has new countertops and the cabinets are getting a refresh in late July. Whew

Great job on the mudding, wish i was that good at it. We used a piece of chain link fence and some boards at the front and back to keep it square to drag the pasture. A piece of chain to attach it to the tractor and it breaks up the manure well with all the links dragging thru it.

Just watching this video. When our home was built they dug out too much for the basement and didn't refill correctly. So, our front porch columns started sinking. The builder came out and dug down about 8' and poured columns (Cardboard forms used) of cement under each post. Our build was 18 years ago and have not had any problems.

Love 💕 the flooring you’ve chosen. I think the Luxury Vinyl is a great choice. We’ve had laminate before in a home and even tho it wasn’t low cost laminate? It mushroomed when it had wet sitting on a joint for any time. Love the appearance of the natural wood look and the color is Perfect 👍🏼.
Always happy to Welcome Spring. Especially this year coming out of Covid lock downs. . Finally feeling like Life is getting back to Normal.

After you fix that beam, why not slope water away from the house and put plastic down and then pea gravel permanently under the front porch roof unless you plan to pour cement. 😃

The house is looking great! Sorry to hear about your post sinking!
Are your footings belew the frost line?
Before you pour the cement pad, excavate an extra 2” and place 2” foam board down. This will protect your pad and post from frost heave.
I’m surprised that you are subbing out the texture and painting? You are definitely capable of doing both!
