If you want a waterproof sheet, try a sheet of 6 mil plastic. 100% waterproof. What I mean is that I've watched a lot of these tarp videos lately, and most of them emphasize waterproofness over all. I seems to me as if there are many other characteristics of a tarp just as important if not more so. I own an AquaQuest Defender 10x10 in OD. It's an excellent piece of equipment. I liked the video. The presenter reminded me of guys I grew up with a long, long time ago. If you're thinking about getting one of these, bite the bullet if you can and and plank out the green. But, don't buy too large a one for they're almost impossible to fold without help. I camp by myself, so it's a consideration in my case. 10x10 is good.
Good review. If you don't mind, I would like to give a piece of advice. It's called a stuff sack for a reason. Stuff that tarp in there. Not only is it easier, but it also prevents wear on the folds from constantly folding a tarp/tent the same way....every time you "stuff" it, the seams never go in aligned. It's easier and saves gear.
I’ve had mine for almost 9 years now… Used it a bazillion times in high desert NM and CO, used it in the rocky mountains of CO and CA, used it boreal Sweden and Norway…searing heat, blistering cold etc. Still looks brand new.
It’s been mentioned before but, let me reinforce the overall sentiment; This tarp is not for “waterproofness” necessarily. It’s a replacement for a tent. I have several special edition “military only” Hilleberg tents worth north of $4000 etc. Three of them are still in the original package, tagged and bagged just like the day they fell off the truck. This tarp does it all dude - we’ve used it to cover OP’s dug into the ground, kept us warm during a “14 14’s” in the high CO Rockies with the WWP…the trolls and I even sent 9 days in it, pitched in our basement, during a KY ice storm with no electricity or running water etc. Yes, it’s most definitely waterproof but, that’s not all it is.
Hey buddy great video. I got the 10x10 one, but green. They are great!! Just wondering about the pants you are wearing. Are those goretex? If you don't mind to let us know, where did you get them? Thank you!
Because of you I'll buy this....(I've been looking into it already anyway) because of your (around camp in your underwear joke) I subscribed. I know exactly what you mean...had to wear my sleep clothes all day.
loved the review my friend. thanks for the video. liked from me. 👍 I also subscribed to your channel would like to have your support as well. keep up the good work.
coydog outdoors good to see... cuz 99% of the self proclaimed “bushcrafters” “survivalist” with UA-cam Channels are nothing more than like salesman on Home Shopping Network pushing sponsored gear to unsuspecting newbies & metrosexuals.. you ate the exception to the rule... best luck

Great test buddy, I have a 8x10' aquaquest defender and I really like mine. Great solid tarp!!

I have the 10x13 King Kamo.
Apparently a 13x20 is coming out!
i thought about getting the 20x20 model but figured it mite be a little to much
Great tarp great investment ! I got the aqua quest King Kamo10 by 13 very happy with it !
ATB John
i havent tried the king camo out but heard it was pretty good
I agree toataly , great tarps , excelent quality .
I just ordered the Aquaquest Guide 10x10 in OD Green. It only weighs 1.5 lbs.
yeah its a bit lighter and if i remember a little cheaper to but the defender is made of stronger material
Is the light version as good as the heavy duty version? What are the differences?
Thank you for the test! Greetings from Austria.
any time buddy thanks for watching

Did you check the seam? How was that with the rain?
yeah i did i saw no leaks whatsoever its a pretty solid piece of gear no real flaws that come to mind
Worthy. 👍🏻
Good review.
Just ordered one, bring the rain, hold the radiation though please.
Is this the light or heavy duty version? Does anyone know the real differences between the two other than the weight?
its the heavy duty version the main difference between the two are the heavy duty version is made out of stronger material

given that Aqua Quest stresses & guarantees their tarps to be waterproof ......
And now you have a non biased review
