Classical, metal and Christmas songs are the 3 main pillars for Tarja. And in her after NW-career metal is not the one where you can hear Tarja sing beautifully (most of the time), it's the classical and Christmas genres where she does that. Her 2017 score for dark Christmas album with gothic style is really original. A wonderful older song. Tarja sings this one beautifully. They all were so young back then. Enjoy your youth Georgia. Do you mean the original 1999 operatic version of "Sleeping Sun" or the contemporary 2005 remake of the song?

Yeah tSummer Breeze is the original version. I definately like it better too. Sad that every time someone reacts to "Sleeping Sun," it's the rearranged version from End of an Era concert.

Then usuually know how to do it musically aka what fits to the song. Just goes to show that Tuomas (the keyboardist) can compose, think of the sound of the song as a whole. Don't know how much the guitarist was along in the composition, but they have of course somewhat free hands during solos. Anyway, good judgment what belongs in the song.
Having a Christmas tree already in November is a bit questionable. But not gonna care because I love your reactions. :D

@@InsaneBlondie I was just joking, I am getting old and feels like the Christmas fuss is starting earlier and earlier every year. :) We Finns traditionally bring in and decorate the tree on the morning of 24th December. Of course the shops and cities tend to have theirs up around this time already.

Great song that really was a perfect match for Tarja's talents, you were right lousy recording but it still sounded amazing no matter. You deserve a better recording so try this one (no reaction just for your own satisfaction) (ua-cam.com/video/9icKP1b44TA/v-deo.html). Love that operatic vocal over the symphonic metal and this was the perfect blend that really defined the Nightwish sound.
Since you seem to like the smooth soft sounds how about Loreena McKennitt awesome Celtic folk ballad Mummer's Dance (ua-cam.com/video/XsZ42LHnXBU/v-deo.html) her band and their instruments are amazing as they back-up her angelic vocals something I am sure you will love.

@@InsaneBlondie young indeed this was filmed December 2000 in Tampere Finland. Puts her at 22 at the time. Tarja's birthday is next month. Oh and roll the R's in finish and the J is more a Y so Tarr-yia is closest to the pronounciation.

Still my favourite Nightwish song. It just makes me fly, makes me a skywalker. I usually watch the vidoe by janklerTV, where he compiled footages from the Hobbit trilogy - for example where they fly with the eagles. That's where the sound and image connect.
This is so great song and Tuomas likes the tune so much. So he wanted to do Nightwish version of it...and so amazing. The guitar is perfect like this in here as is actually everything. Check the whole concert cause it is one of their best ...still.

Love this song, but the original, or the hardstyle one, sorry to say, but i can't stand Tarja's voice anymore, that was one reason i stopped listening to nightwish back then, back on board since i heard Floor slay the songs :)

@@nimwey7701 i can appreciate that..but you can thank Tuomas for this transformation...her initial , preferred style was a much lower , bear like voice, flowing, deep and rich...luckily, due to her vast soprano range she is free to alter her timbre in an instant in her solo career...give it a listen..you'll be surprised on how experimental she can be...
Once again...loved your reaction to this song...Tarja ''fits'' this song so well...she's awesome here...i'm still a floor fan tho haha but overall i'm a Nightwish fan...they dont have ''bad'' songs...and all the 3 vocalists they had are good singers...(Floor is just my fav one).
