  • Once the Cree and their allies dominated the western fur trade. Sustained by the buffalo. By 1885, their decline meant disaster and starvation. Betrayed by Ottawa, who offered peace and food for land, the Cree would make a valiant last stand to save their people's future.

Wait; I learned that Poundmaker tried to prevent the sacking and seige at Battleford due to seeing open conflict as a needless waste of life, but the other bands disagreed and layed siege anyways due to hunger.

If anybody is interested, there is a movie loosely based on the events of Rogers' Raid on St Francis. It's Northwest Passage with Spencer Tracy as Rogers.

@@buefordplaitedhair1667I’m Cree. I grew up hearing stories on how we were always at war. Stealing each others horses land and women. But that had to have been at least 150 years ago. Too busy trying to pay bills these days to worry about any of that 😂

MacDonald was the first Prime Minister of Canada, so made everyone upset. Sometimes, the best settlement is when both parties are upset. Fortunately, he was married to a wonderful Metis woman Jane Klyne. Many of the Great Founding Fathers of Canada were married to Metis, spoke their language, and understood their customs.

Yes, tribes did fight each other. It's too bad they couldn't put their differences aside and force the Europeans from the continent. They just had no idea of the tsunami of wyte settlers they would be encountering. European/wyte man's strategy: Divide and conquer. It still works today.

We wouldn’t have a country if it wasn’t for Columbus.
Freedom and Liberty would have been wiped from the Earth by the Muslim Ottomans, if it weren’t for Columbus discovering the America’s and “Telling” people about it. (Unlike everyone before)
It’s the Americas that gave Spain the Treasure and recourses to fight of the the Muslims!
And helped all the other European countries involved in the Americas later on to do the same!
All because Christopher Columbus went exploring discovering America an “telling” people about it when he got back!
Let’s be grateful to Columbus for what he’s given us!
There would be no land of the Free and home of the brave if it weren’t for Columbus!

There is zero difference between the British claiming territory or the Shoshone (from Mexico), French, The newly arrived Plains Cree (from Ontario), Spanish, or recently arrived Blackfoot (From East Coast USA) they were all colonizing and stealing each other's land. Everyone was claiming territory.
