People complaining if it is country or not country..what is country music? Unless you go back to 60s and 70s most of what you have today from everyone shows the country music has evolved. If a song is good then it's good period. And if the singer identifies with a genre then so be it . You can hear soft rap in most country songs today even from the very popular guys/ladies..so stop the negativity or sing your own let's evaluate it.

I am an American of Filipino descent and I love country music. Finally the industry has diverse artists such as Kane Brown, Breland, Mickey Guyton, and Darius Rucker. They definitely paved the way for people of color in country music. This genre is not strictly for white people, but to everyone from all backgrounds. Some of my relatives would make a comment about my southern drawl, let alone I'm an ex Californian. This is what I get for living in TX for a long time.

I met Kane at a bar in Nashville 2 years ago. He came over and said hi. I thanked him for his music and said his songs always brighten my day! He was incredibly kind and gracious despite being surrounded by an entourage.

So I just heard Kane Brown's name for the first time in early December, when I saw the pilot episode of Blake Shelton's Barmageddon. Blake introduced him as country singer Kane Brown and I was like WHO? I took one look at him and was like this guy is Black - or biracial definitely. I was intrigued because there is only a teeny tiny negligible amount of Black country singers. Kane has a nice smooth voice, and I love his baritone. His song lyrics are really descriptive and the stories he tells are traditional country. The best thing about him, though, is that he blends traditional R&B and Pop together with country - and that speaks to his flexibility and creativity. I hope I can see him in concert.
