I would bet that the fan stopped working but the heating element continued to heat. This caused the back to get too hot and therefore the black sound insultation also got hot and slid down the plastic cover. Overall a silly design IMO.
Did you manage to get the fan replacement? Could you kindly do another video explaining how that fan-engine can be taken apart and replaced? And thank you very much for posting this video!! it was a huge help!
