I tried this. Amazing. I tweaked a little. In place of fork spoon spoon fork i did 3 spoons and a butter knife. Instead of lemon grass I used chives. In place of sprite I used 2 tablespoons of olive oil and instead of boiling I didnt.

Just make sure you reheat it before you eat any of it. A friend ate a rotisserie chicken and got food poisoning. The guy at the grocery store said sometimes people pick them up, then leave them somewhere else, and they gather bacteria until someone finds them and puts them back under the heater.

Since so many others felt it their right to belittle this man and his recipe, I feel I have a right to offer a different opinion. I found this recipe very interesting, enough to try it too. I love chicken, any way you cook it, and since most of you found it repulsive in one way or another, and didn't hesitate to say so, you will never know, will you? And comments such as "I wonder when he last washed his hands" were definitely not called for. Just because you didn't see him wash his hands, is not proof he did not. And to the person that stated Sprite is not an ingredient, it's a beverage or liquid. Well I have news for you. If it's used in the cooking of meal, then it IS an ingredient. Yes, a liquid ingredients, the same as the soy sauce is, or Coke or Dr. Pepper, and I've seen a gazillion recipes using Coke and Dr. Pepper for cooking meats. When I'm enjoying my dish of succulent, juicy Sprite Chicken, I'll be glad I didn't let the naysayers, who never even tried it, influence my decision.

Well, I´ve tried it today. It took almost two hours to boil out most of the Sprite and I put it into the owen for last 10 minutes. And it is a decent variation on a fried chicken, tastes both sweet and salty, it´s super easy and honestly, I just dont´t get the negative comments of people that have no decency to even try this recipe.

Tried this and it’s really good. I seasoned the chicken with some extra seasoning but everyone liked it and the sprite boiled down so you can’t even taste it. Thank you for the recipe

Made this tonight. Anyone hating, the end result is very similar to teriyaki. We did stir fry veggies over rice to go with it. I thickened up 3 cups of the sauce in a separate pan using 2 TBSP cornstarch mixed with 4 TBSP water. Drizzled that over the veg. So easy, and it falls right off the bone. Gonna do this one again!!!

To the people confused, this is a genuine cooking method that we do here in the Philippines. It's a much cheaper alternative to using sugar and acid(lime/lemon/calamandarin) and it also helps tenderize the meat a lot. We also use sprite/7-up for roasting pigs.
It looks weird but I assure you it's quite delicious when you try it.

Agreed. I think I would take it out of the liquid a bit sooner and pop it in a really hot oven, or maybe even under a broiler to crisp that skin up. I think I'd also leave that sauce boiling and uncovered while the chicken was in the oven to really reduce it down.

I can see how Sprite would add some interesting flavor. I’d hold the oyster sauce however, and once the chicken was cooked internally, I’d put it under the broiler to crisp up the skin. Which, as everyone knows, is the best part of the bird.

People who are saying bad things about this food have never tried this before. I've tried this before and it is actually good! The soda makes the chicken sweet so it is different from the usual chicken recipes that most people are used to.

My mom is filipino. I grew up eating Chicken Adobo she always made. She ALWAYS made it with sprite or 7up. Nothing but pure DELICIOUS on top of some rice too. Pretty sure no other filipino knew or did this b4 her as every filipino would ask her secret and convey that No one has ever done this before to Chicken Adobo. She was born in 1952.... He is making a form of chicken adobo in this video with the sprite twist my mother invented. Sorry, but it looks like you had way too many idiots decide to comment on this. I’m sure it was delicious. I think people just don’t understand about cooking with soda. The thing about it is the sugars in the soda - they act as a tenderizer. The chicken doesn’t taste like Sprite🙄 We often use Dr. Pepper, Coke a Cola, etc in pork dishes. They come out great. Nice video. Don’t be discouraged.

My first job as a chef the head chef use to say to me *"dont knock it until you try it"* some cooking techniques my seem weird to a domesticated westerner but doesn't mean it has a bad flavour or just plain isn't good.
For example, in my country we cook food in a hole we dig in the ground using red hot rocks and then covering it with the dirt excavated from the hole. It seems weird to foreigners but is really delicious. Even Gordon ramsay likes rates it

I cook boneless ribs in my crockpot. I add orange juice and then after 3 hours on low I add a can of coke and cook on high for another hour to 2. I don't add the sauce until the last 30 minutes. I made ribs last week and I didn't add sauce. The ribs were wonderful! Very tender.

Actually most fast food and restauraunts "brine" their chicken, which is basically broth, vinegar, spices and a crap load of sugar. So it's not far off from the real deal still.
