    brandon i got a quick question and if you can answer this ASAP that would be great. In the first problem, why didnt you multiply 3.14 to 24x24? So wouldnt the total area be 1809 sq inches?

    • @bcraftmath
      @bcraftmath  Рік тому +1

      Since pi is used I the answer you don't have use 3.14 for pi.

    1:15 can you please explain why we don’t need to use 3.14??

    • @bcraftmath
      @bcraftmath  Рік тому

      Since pi is left in the answer you don't have to use 3.14 for pi. Check out live session 17 from this playlist where I show additional examples: ua-cam.com/play/PLGVFcC04AlxfeJBlHklKIobnSt_o3cxpF.html

    Hello, on the workbook section 15, Geometry Question #16.The answer says it is 708 ft^2. Im unsure how you got that. For floor and ceiling surface area I did length times width, 14 * 11=154 times 2 = 308 square feet. For the 4 walls I did length times width. 14 *11 =154 times 4 =616 square feet. I added both answers 308 + 616 to get 924 square feet. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

    • @bcraftmath
      @bcraftmath  Рік тому +1

      The four walls are not all identical. 14x8x2 for two of the walls and then 11x8x2 for the other two...

    That formulary you said is not working it worked.
    240+420=660/2 =330
    8+4=12 12/2 =6
    330/6 = 55mph

    • @bcraftmath
      @bcraftmath  Рік тому +2

      The reason your approach worked is that you are essentially simplifying a fraction... 660/12 = 330/6 = 55mph. This is the same thing I did in the problem to get the correct answer.
      Now... Here is what will not always work and this is what I was referring to... 240/4 = 60mph and 420/8 = 52.5mph (finding the average speed of each part separately)... (60+52.5)/2 = 56.25 (adding those together and dividing by 2).
