    great video, we are just installing our first Solaredge battery, back up system and this helped explain the real world installation.

    Solaredge was the first and ladt time I will install one. Optimizers were used where they had no need to, I had to replace a faulty inverter and the hoops I had to go down to first become an installer to give me access to allow me to install it. Then trying to install it in a rural area no Internet. The fist and ladt time for me.

    such as pcs . access points etc doesn't cut out when the grid goes down

    Hi Great video, does a solar edge system need to be activated by a registered installer for the system to work?
    or can it be install solely for off grid use only like DIY, as i have read a tesla powerwall needs to be activated by a installer to work correctly or at least use the full function

    Hi mate! Nearby sparks here from Gloucester. We have a Solaredge 10kW inverter with 30kWh storage and backup interface, pretty much same as yours. One thing that confused me is when connecting the backup interface, you have the two options of connecting neutral depending whether it's TNS or TNCS. How did you connect yours? The wiring diagram for TNCS looks like it wouldn't isolate the neutral connection from grid, therefore not all 'live conductors'? Also, separate note, would you recommend trade mastermind? ;)

    Im considering their system. one caveat tho is that its likley more effeicient to add batteries one at a time, 10kw per year say just because they are inevitably going to drop in price over time. Over the last 5 years and many power cuts we learned that the most we have actually ever used during a 'powercut' was about 13kw. that was about 14 hours averaging 800w and not really cutting back. the other caveat is that 30ms switching is too slow for pc use etc nice vid

      Yea that is true, they have a heat pump and rely on off grid power so needs more batteries at once. The time delay on the switchover is quite long. Some others such as Tesla can switch over quickly.

    Other systems have an almost instant switch over when the main grid goes off; such as Tesla gateway, EcoFlow PowerOcean. Is there any way/configuration to the tell the SolarEdge backup interface to monitor with shorter delay therefore to give an 'instant' switch over to backup battery? I hope this makes sense.

      Not that i am aware of. It is preset.

    Can the hub handle more than 1 inverter? So I can size up slowly instead of going all in at once?

    Are the base units solaredge as well ?

    What sort of cost is a system like this?

    Does this need an earth rod?

    • @Leon-nn7rn
      @Leon-nn7rn  9 місяців тому

      Yes it does. The system separates the house earth from the backup so it needs its own rod.

    • @byardelectrical
      @byardelectrical 4 місяці тому

      @@Leon-nn7rn no it doesn't. Earth rod required as a reference and fault path if PEN conductor is lost. Backup kicks in without an earthed install in this instance.

    would have been better if it had instant transfer so it doesn't disrupt the circuit
