This is Malanka - an ancient pre-Christian holiday that has survived in Ukraine. he is many thousands of years old. Once a year, Ukrainians dress up as people of different eras, animals, mythical creatures, sing and dance, imitating them, thus showing themselves. this is an interesting and beautiful holiday that has been preserved since the times of the pagans. Also, this song can be perceived as a combination of different cultures and traditions of the world and harmony in it. Hello from Ukraine=)

The costumes show different continents and cultures. Japan (samurai), China (a guy in a triangular hat, Africa (a colorful suit at the beginning that dances on the sand), North America (a bull) And a guy in a big hat Spain (Europe). The lyrics are very simple. I fly in the sky freely, floating in the water freely my melody is strong and free.
Such simple powerful & primal lyrics. She is an absolute force for good in Ukraine. The best way I can describe her is as if Enya and Kraftwerk suddenly released new music together & it was the very best music they had ever made.

Thank you for your nice reaction and support of Ukraine. BTW, it's OnUka (the emphasis is on U), which is translated as "granddaughter" and the band was named so in dedication to Nata Zhizhchenko's (the lead singer-songwriter) grandfather, who was a a famous maker of Ukrainian folk instruments and had a great influence on Nata's musical development.
There is an orchestral version of the track Zenit - "ONUKA - ZENIT (feat. NAONI Orchestra) [Live]". It has a richer, deeper sound.
Whoever requested you to review this, has seriously good taste in music. Can't describe my reaction when I first heard this. Nata & her husband Eugene really are mega talented people & he is a movie soundtrack producer, so that explains the huge sound production in this. Her back catalogue desperately needs to be properly marketed around the world.

He is correct. It is different cultures. The one he didn't know doing the fast dance at the beginning is African. It is called Zaouli. It originates from Ivory Coast. It's usually done MUCH faster. Look up videos. They are amazing.

i stumbled onto this video on YT b/c it was 'recommended. the thumbnail picture was so bizarre i couldn't reziz. LOVE on 1st listen. A rarity for me these days. I loved this song when it was new in 2019. I thought I am the ONLY person in the usa who loves it. This song led me to more discoveries of ukraine music before the current war. I would agree with your statement when it comes to situations like what the youtuber Ssniperwolf does to make videos, where she monetizes other people's content. But music reactions are a different beast, and record labels almost always do not allow monetization of songs, so anyone who makes music reactions has to have a love for music, because thats about all the payment you will get out of it. I can't speak for all reactors, but the point of the reaction to a song is for commentary and review purposes. I think the majority of people who view music reactions understand this, and dont click on a reaction video unless they want to see just that, the reaction. Some record labels even appreciate what music reactors do. I have a pretty good relationship with Sharptone Records in which they let me sneak preview new songs and create reaction videos, in order to help spread the word on music.
Houston here too. Love the music you react to. And remember kids, the best way to support Ukraine is to convince US and NATO leaders to stop using the Ukrainian people to fight a proxy war with Russia.
