- This tutorial will cover how to create a camera obscura in your home. It's a fun and easy process using a few simple materials you can get from the supermarket. The camera obscura was the precursor to the first camera and its discovery was one of the most important moments in the history of photography.
Materials needed:
- Window
- Garbage bags
- Scissors and knife
- Tape
- Thick cardboard

Of all the camera obscura UA-cam demos I've seen, this one clarifies the results best of all.
Glad to hear it, thanks for watching!
I first heard this in Art class and it is amazing. I still cannot wrap my head around it.
It's a pretty awesome blend of art and science. I definitely am not the best person to explain the nitty gritty of it, but looking into pinhole photography will give you some more answers.
Thanks for the easy directions and what to expect. Thought this would make an excellent project to do with my grandchildren. Wonderfully easy. Won't be able to do this for the eclipse, but what fun afterwards.
I read about "camera obscura" in AP Art History, but didn't understand it. I came across it again just now and decided to look it up. Wow! I feel like I've been blind my whole life prior to knowing this is possible. Mind blown.
Honestly it's one of the coolest things ever, give it a go!
Excellent. Very well demonstrated and you make it intriguing.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Great
Thats so cool!
Awesome hey!
Salute to ibn Al haytham
Btw you did a great job
Cheers friend.
IS THERE ANY EFFECT IF A PINHOLE CAMERA IS USED INSIDE OF A CAMERA OBSCURED ROOM? I am actually trying to put the image together in my head visualizing using a pinhole camera box, and inside of it the light is directed into another camera obscura... i have got to know what happens.. i know that using a mirror helps aim the image onto the photographic film, type set up.. so I guess im curious if it would work, and it just makes the image less bright and smaller, as if it would cut the ratio in half type thing... yeah i bet that is how it works and your video shows an example of it when you capture the image of the light coming in from the hole an it looks like our bright sun against the dark backdrop of space, and that is what i thnk the suns are.. holes in space, where a pixel of light is peering through, from the inside or permalight center of space,.. which means that it is technically outside of our container.... it gets psychedelic to imagine,.and i love it love it love it.. the LENS... the device of time travel. keep up the awesome work..
Great video, im looking for a way to film inside a camera obscura. How did you set the camera to film inside?
Just need a really high ISO and a wide aperture lens to let as much light in as possible.
Could i just tape cardboard to the windows if i have that avaible?
That would be fine, as long as it's think enough to block out the light anything will work. Good luck!
@@kindredcameraschannel thank you!
