Now that's how you do a re-master. Why don't they make a fully fledged feature length film with those graphics?
+TotallyToonsTV because the xbox one hardware wouldn't be capable of those type of cut scene graphics for game play, its hardware isn't powerful enough. hell the xbox one and ps4 struggle to get 1080p at 60fps with games now, let alone trying to handle those cut scene graphics at 1080p at 60fps for game play.

The timing is different though on the original and anniversary cutscenes, and I think the camera views and some animation are too. A side by side wouldn't have been much better.
That wouldn't work well as the scenes have significantly different lengths.
Like a high definition IMAX movie. Very well done remastered graphics.

Blur studios did it. They are media graphic designers. They did noy do Halo 5.
But the Halo 2 Anniversary graphics were fine, and there is very little difference.

I feel so nostalgic remembering these cutscenes again... and DAMN, the anniversary cutscenes looks so life-like and real...

I don't have an Xbox One and I haven't played Halo 2 in about 9 years, so this brought on a lot of nostalgia for me. I remember having to skip through Arbiter's torture scene because it scared me and made me sad. I didn't know Arbiter yet as a character, but I liked him for some reason. I remember my friend Chandler (no longer around :[ ) coming over to play with me. We'd both wear our bicycle helmets and pretend we were actually in the game, saving the galaxy together. I remember having a crush on Commander Keys I think her name is. I remember a lot of stuff.
I love when companies that make hit games and remaster them years later. I'd love 1080p remaster of Goldeneye 64 with great multiplayer support. Idk how the gameplay would be, but I'm sure it'd still be awesome. I think they have one for Wii but really, who the fuck plays Wii?

0:52 It's amazing not seeing John's model load and get textured in that shot.
It's also pretty cool to see what Reach looked like destroyed, since we never saw it in the game. Looking back at the original Halo 2, it wasn't nearly as glassed as it should've been.
I can't wait to play this on pc. Nostalgia overload.

I prefer cutscenes built from in game assets. The transition from cutscene to gameplay is jarring in anniversary. It would be cool if there was an option to watch the original cutscenes with anniversaries look.
You can, if you didn't know you could in the game press a button and it would change it to the original graphics, even on the cutscenes

Jerome P I just started playing Halo 2 Anniversary, and I completely agree with you. She looked young and possibly cute before, if you could see past the blockiness of the old one. In the new one she looks terrible, and even old and wrinkled in some scenes/angles.

The graphics in the anniversary edition blew my mind. I swear, it feels like watching an actual movie. The details are incredible. Now I don't have to cringe at the original. It looks so realistic.

The remastered versions are beautiful, but I have to say the original cutscenes have better direction, cinematography, and shot composition.

That last part was supposed to end with Chief saying: "Tell that to the covenant". Does he not say that anymore in the Anniversary collection?
He does say it but the pacing in audio is bit different in Halo 2 Anniversary than in original...thus when you do comparison vids like this, but have the audio playing from the other, it doesnt always match as you can clearly see/hear.
Why the hell hasn't anyone done a side by side of all the cutscenes yet?? Been waiting for ever someone please do it.
If anyone does it the cutscenes are not going to go at the same speed, the Blur cutscenes goes faster while the original ones goes slower.

The only weird thing is the clip where the PoA detonates, in the new cutscenes. There's not even really any explosion there.

For a halo fan, it feels weird seeing this with new graphica, cuz there were moments you will never forget in halo 2 and seeing them different brokes my heart a little beat

Well obviously since the original Halo 2 cutscenes used the in-game engine, Anniversary uses CG-cutscenes made by Blur.

Those new pre-rendered cutscenes are trash, they should've been remade using the new anniversary graphics in real time instead of introducing such separation between gameplay graphics and "story graphics"

Some of the audio is out of sync.
Bin bei sowas immer etwas zwiegespalten. Auf der einen Seite sehen die Renderszenen toll aus, aber auf der anderen Seite ist der Unterschied zwischen Sequenzen und richtiger Spielegrafik sehr gross. Ich finde das stört die Atmosphäre und den Gesamteindruck dann schon ein wenig. Daher bevorzuge ich eher Szenen in der Spielgrafik. So wie es beim Original damals auch war. Einen Halo Film mit dieser Rendertechnik wäre aber schon was feines.

@@RiasatSalminSami Agreed I overall really enjoy the work that was done for the remake, and even feel at times it surpasses the original. However, the two things I do have issues with is the lack of in game cutscenes, and changes to the OST (Heavy Priced Paid is awful in the remake)

I agree. I just hate the way they made most of the characters look. They did a great job with making it look photorealistic, but the Master Chief looks way too green and his armor is slightly changed in a way I don't like.
Just nostalgia... i liked all of the changes and i started with halo 2

my only issue is the pacing of the new cutscenes. why do you have to speed everything up? these scenes are way faster than the original and you cant take everything in thats happening. scenes that were epic before are just regular now aside from the visuals. let us take in how gorgeous everything is for fuck sake! dont rush us lol
