    Hey, Adam!
Actually, Howard McNear did have a starring role on radio, and you'd be amazed at what kind of role it was. Beginning in 1937, Howard McNear and John Gibson were two of the three stars of the juvenile radio serial, "Speed Gibson of the International Secret Police". These two guys, who we all know as Floyd the barber and Ethelbert the bartender, played the roles of swashbuckling, crime-fighting airplane pilots who were members of the International Secret Police. (McNear played the role of agent Clint Barlow, and Gibson played the role of agent Barney Dunlap.) The third starring role was that of Speed Gibson, the teenage nephew of Clint Barlow. (According to Dunning, the name of the child actor who played the Speed Gibson role is unknown.)
The good news is that all episodes of this show are available here on UA-cam, and they're of quite good audio quality. Even if you're not a juvenile, the show is definitely worth a listen.

Hey S. What great info. Mcnear is a favorite actor of mine. He just fun. I'll have to look up the other places he starred.❤
