Showing a Flat Land Kawasaki KLX250 Rider Mountain Trails for the 1st Time with My TW200 Dual sport

- Ethan Showed up at the Colorado Rocky mountains to ride some gnarly off-road for the first time on his new Kawasaki KLX250 Dual sport motorcycle. We met up on Squaw pass road and headed on an Adventure from there. I rode my 2014 Yamaha TW200 dual sport motorcycle and showed him around some cool places that I knew about. From there we head off to a new place I have never even been before. Who knows what we will find or run into on our adventures. Ethan did great and probably learned a lot about riding on rough terrain. Thanks for watching and don't forget to go on your own adventure!

I've ridden with a few of the UA-cam Tdubbers. Whenever we first get going, I'm always laughing at myself wondering "Am I ruining his video? should I be talking? Should I be quiet?" 😂
haha, yeah I always feel a bit akward when I film video around others
I don't know that I've ever met someone who's personality matches that of their bike so well... If a TW200 were to narrate a video, it would sound exactly like a TDubsKid video...
hahaha glad to hear 😂
Its really cool to see Ethan's confidence level improve just in the span of the video.
for sure, I rode with someone who took me on some crazy gnarly stuff, really helped a lot
My first day riding I got my butt kicked, but the difference from the beginning vs the end of the day was huge. It is great to see people improve.
Nice video, great footage.....The reason why you're seeing so many campsites and vehicles and trailers is because Archery elk and deer season is during September.
thanks! good to know, makes sense
Never stop doing those drone shots with the atmospheric music. Best part of getting out on these trails is the view!
Thanks, ill always have the drone shots haha. for sure, thanks
3:05 Looks like the mystery tower is an old AT&T long-lines site. Those microwave horns are rather distinctive. They often got reused without the new owner even bothering to remove them.
that makes sense, crazy how there are no gates or signs or anything haha
Love the crash montage. Classic display of the stages of a "small displacement" new rider.
haha thanks, all the crashes made be better at riding
Your videos are so much fun to watch. Very energetic.
Thank you so much!
@@TDubsKid Wow! first time I got a reply! So awesome! I’m honored. Thank you!
Good video! You have nice patience with a “minimal-experience” dual sport rider! Your nice character really shows in your videos. More power to you….
thanks! I try to have patience! he was soo much better at riding after that trip
I love the schooling conversation on the newb:Take it to 13. (i'm a newb also.)
Haha for sure! He probably got so much better at riding from that trip
6:56 That's one aspect of riding that car drivers have no idea about. You'll be like riding through town and pass through a cloud of pizza smell and instantly get hungry. lol
haha for sure
Yay, a new tdubskid video! This has me jones'n to go dual sport riding. Alas, it's not dual sport weather for another month or 2 here in eastern Ontario. 😕
thanks for stopping by. glad to inspire, same here, can't wait till the snow goes away, at least I can work on some old videos. it will be time before you know it
When all else fails drop it down a gear and punch it! Beautiful scenery as always.
This is solid advice that I need to heed more often.
good advice, thanks! it's great out here
Well done. Love the Scenery, the sound of the mighty TDUB and the drone shots are very cool as well. Thanks for the video man!
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks so much for watching
Awesome content as always! Please keep sharing your endless backyard adventures that I can only dream of for now. Would love another motocamping adventure someday, but I know it must be a lot of prep and work.
glad you enjoyed! yeah this place is awesome for dual sport riding. have a 2 night motocamping trip coming up soon
Love your videos man, your drone footage is amazing.
thanks so much! glad you enjoy the vids
I love seeing the bike videos, keep it up! Your videos inspired me to buy my first bike two years ago. I got myself a 2021 KLX 300 and could not have been happier. All the abandoned mine areas you've been to look like a ton of fun to explore.
good to hear! that's great, a 300 seems like a perfect size. yeah the mine stuff is endless in the Colorado Rocky mountains
Great video to watch. No place like Colorado for bike trails.
Thanks for watching! Indeed, they are hard to beat
Looks like such amazing riding out there. Thanks for another great video!!
Indeed! Never run out of new trails to explore out here. No problem thanks for watching
I’m gonna have to put CO on my bucket list.
Great vid man!! We have a cell tower like that where i live and there is a hige bunker underneath it. We were told by some workers there that it goes about 10 stories underground. They are kind of creepy looking towers on top of this mountain here, pretty sweet tho!
Hey thanks! Cool, that would be crazy if that was true, I would really want to know whats down there, interesting. This tower is super strange, no signs or anything
Tdubbin! Heck yes. Glad we got another vidja
Haha yeah I need to get more out, cant wait to finish all the ones I have already filmed
"I was worried when I got my TW I was like scared of everything" ... epic crash compilation continues ....
haha pretty much 😂
Fun fun Wes
Thanks!
'Are we going the speed limit? Cuz that's a cop.. oh, we're going under the speed limit'. Classic TW scenario 😂
haha pretty much! difficult to break the law on this bike 😂
I've just put insurance on my T-Dub today. Awesome coincidence you put out a video today!
Haha perfect timing, dont you just love how cheap insurance is on the tw??
Another great video. Thanks Tdubskid.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Gnarly!
haha for sure
We've got more snow comin here in Wisconsin. Gonna be awhile before I'll be riding. Great job Wes.
yeah we got too much snow too, 1 degree F outside right now. I edit more videos in the winter usually, thanks!
Everything is new until you've done it. Then its just practice, or something not to do. That's what awesome, you get to find out.
Oh, and listen to the rocks. They're there to help you. :-)
I guess that makes haha for sure
Great video as always. Shared, thumb and can't wait to see the next release of your content.
no problem, thanks so much. more to come
You coming to the desert 100 in Washington? It's April 1st
Probably wont make it unfortunately
Fun video on the Tdub. The terrain you have in your back yard is sick. Not as many places to ride where I am
For sure!! Thats why I love it here, gotta go west for places to ride
useful riding tips in here. appreciated.
Glad it was helpful!
Drone shots were so good my dude!!
That's some pretty gnarly stuff behind Empire there. My truck's alternator died down the hill from the lake last year and i got to hike a new one, 200lbs of batteries and some tools in to swap everything out during a may snowstorm. Fun times!
Allegedly my neighbor made it to Bill Moore a few years ago on his 1200GS so I'm tempted to try on my 990 but those roads are getting ripped up beyond what's reasonable to ride on 2 wheels, especially one that weighs 500lbs
thanks! glad you liked them! dang that sounds like not a fun time. wow it's cool when people can ride the big bikes in gnarly places
another great adventure!
Glad you enjoyed it
Woohoo!
😁
You should have had rocks and boulders laughing and saying "look, a new guy" haha heehee😂
Haha good idea 🤣
Great video. I would love to ride there sometime!
Me too!
Thanks! Yeah its great out here
"smells like super dank forest" 🤣🤣🤣
Haha best way to describe it
Such great riding out there
for sure, it's endless
Looks like there are a lot of trails up in that area. Easy to get turned around? If this wet season would just...stop so the white stuff would melt off, I need to get up there and explore that area...
yeah it can get pretty crazy, good to have a gps. yeah I know what you mean, snow takes forever to melt up there. some trails don't even open till middle of july
Hey Wes, I'm Wes, I changed my name but anyway I am going into the navy😎
hey there, have fun in the navy!
T-Dubs kid always enjoy your videos but would like to know what kind of drone you use, maybe do a little video about your drone..... Muchos Gracious
thanks! I just used an old dji mavic air in this vid
I'd love to see you test ride an UBCO. You'd probably enjoy it.
would love to test out an ebike on the channel someday, had a company wanting to send me one that had sorta fat tires like the tw and looked super cool. but they stopped communicating
@@TDubsKid that was probably Addmotor. They're good bikes. I know they've recently reached out to some car channels, but yours makes more sense.
Those rock faces are getting more interesting.
Haha all rocks are different
Glad to see a new video from you buddy!!!!! How’s the van doing?
Hey thanks for stopping by, its doing great, slowly but surely coming along, im posting all the van vids at my other channel youtube.com/@4WheelKid
@@TDubsKid I'll check it out!
Makes me wanna ride brotherman!!!
Good! Summer will be here before we know it
Haha! Love it
Haha thanks
I’m from LA/MS area, and my dream vacation/adventure is to take my 300 Rally to CO, and Man, it would just be epic to have a personal tour guide while I was there! I’m actually thinking about renting a Penske or U-Haul , and driving to somewhere in OK, and then just riding my bike the rest of the way into CO. Then perhaps, on my route back home, I’ll just pick the truck back up again, Or, maybe I’ll just ride the bike all the way back home... I’ll figure something out, but I will make it there one of these days!
sounds like a great dream and like you already got it planned out well!
Freaking GNARLY!
Haha yeah those roads get steep!
The power delivery on the KLX is max HP is about 8500 and max torque is about 7000 (-:
Interesting, good to know!
I really love your videos man! Im planning on buying a TW125. What do you think about the tw125? Keep up the good work!🤘
hey glad you enjoy! I think it's just as good but less power. thanks!
@@TDubsKid thank you for the reply!
I love your videos, and it's simple to tell you've been riding for a while. What do you have for a setup in regard to engine, trans, and suspension? I've heard a cam swap is the easiest way to gain anything after a gear.
hey thanks, got all the upgrade videos on the channel. haven't done anything like that yet, not sure if a cam will effect reliability. even if you get a little more power it's still not a powerful bike. I just like it for what it is, If I wanted power I would just get another bike
Good times! That crash compilation had me cracking up, Wes. Interest in a hill climb are you? I've been intimidated to tackle Radical Hill near Webster Pass without some company. It won't be open till at least mid-summer - want to get crazy?
haha glad you enjoyed it. maybe, I may be working on the van mostly this summer but maybe Ill be able to get out for a bit
That's a gnarly hill at serious elevation, how's your jetting/efi?
@Sean Parker I'm running two sizes down on the main jet. That's a 110 vs a 114 on the old-style carb. I also have increased my pilot jet up one size. A 70T rear sprocket is also very helpful for said terrain.
Video is hilarious😂
Haha thanks
Yo! Dubbs, are you going to TDubbs fest in UT in September?
hey, possibly
Hello Tdubskid, back again. I have a new TW200 and need your opinion. They say in the book that the breaking period is 600 miles plus 400 to make it 1000 miles. Are the Tdubs broke in at the 600 miles after the oil change or do I need to get the 1000 miles on it. I only have 168 miles on it now. Anyway thanks again and keep up the great videos. James
hey welcome back, it's hard to say for sure, I tried to break mine in properly but still went over the throttle limit a lot. a lot of people don't even make it to 1000 before selling these bikes. mine is a around 17,600 miles
Wow they sure are good Bikes. I’m keeping mine so I will break it in to the recommended mileage. It has 178 miles on it now. Long way to go. I did dump mine once and it revved some but should be fine. Really tough not to just go. 😂. Thanks for the reply. James
"Theres only one way to find out" - newbie nathan of iowa
Haha that guy was fun. I think he had a great time
I'm looking to build my first FPV drone to also carry my GoPro. Suggestions? I have no clue where to start.
need to learn how to fly fpv in acro mode first if you haven't already. takes a while to develop that skill, best way to start is with a tiny whoop and simulator. if you go right to a 5in quad with no experience, you will be sorry. check out this channel ua-cam.com/channels/X3eufnI7A2I7IkKHZn8KSQ.html
@@TDubsKid thanks so much!!
The best thing he could do for himself would be to disconnect the tach and just ride it based on feel. He'd end up using a lot more of the power when there aren't numbers involved.
yeah, I think he was just nervous because it was so new
What brand hand guards and blinkers do you have? I’ve looked for an install video but can’t find one. Just got an ‘89’ Tdub running for $700.
ua-cam.com/video/RJBoc6NR5F0/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/8pAA-CH0b6A/v-deo.html
How many miles you got on your Tdub now? I got 16k and having to rebuild it the rod bearings are shot bummer
Almost 18,000 now still runs great, maybe burns a little oil but not too bad, sorry to hear that, I wonder what the cause was?
@@TDubsKid I was on a long trip and didn't keep an eye on the oil level which burned the crank it was all my fault
@@XXXCRSPL dang it, sorry to hear that
Did you rejet your carb because your at high elevation?
not at all
Do you know of any TW rallies? Colorado , Utah Moab ,
yeah there should be one this September maybe, check out mobstreet
Does a tw have a rev limiter?
Good question, I think it might but don’t want to find out 😅
Did you ever build out that van that you bought?
Im working on it, putting the van build stuff on my other channel youtube.com/@4WheelKid
No more videos ?
I always have more
I guess I should have said is when will you start releasing new tdub vids
How many miles are on the old tw
coming up on 18,000 I think
@@TDubsKid Wow u haven’t even broke it in yet.
Did you delete your Van channel?
No way I would do that, here it is youtube.com/@4WheelKid
@@TDubsKid strange, yt dosent want to open it and it dosent show on any serches. Probably just a bug on my end. Thanks
