Apparently this is voted to be one of the worst games for the system.. and I might agree. It looks like a Crazy Taxi adaptation (both gameplay and music) but it's very poorly done. For most of the arcade modes you need to make sure you select the difficulty fast enough because every second spent on the selection screen takes away 1 second of bonus time (up to 10). You'd think bonus time is.... bonus, and not really important, but it is. Atleast Medium and Hard difficulty can't be completed if you don't have any bonus time. Unless you're lucky with the random pickups and they all result in boosts. I just don't think that's fair. The difficulty of this game is high and you're gonna need some lucky RNG and lots of practice to make it through. Might look enjoyable when watching this footage, but for me it really wasn't.
Wow, this unlocked a core memory of me playing the arcade version *ages* ago. It's a shame this wasn't as good as the premise, as Crazy Taxi + Burnout would be a really fun combo.
I still remember buying this game used in the store. It was so goofy and just a rush agaisnt the clock trying to find shortcuts that made no sense. The soundtrack is on that weird level of so bad its good too. I remember looking it up and the "to Brooklyn" song and it is a real song from an actual band, just mushed into garbo to fit on the game
This is confusing to watch. It's a cab-driving game in which you don't pick up customers? And it's a racing game in which there's only one opponent who the game mostly ignores, in favor of extreme emphasis on a time limit? I dunno, maybe I'm missing something. I like how ambitious the aesthetic is though. They really went for something, with those extremely outlandish shortcuts and that bizarre soundtrack. Too bad if it's not fun though.
Long story short some things were cut, along with cutscenes showing different passangers being picked up and dropped off, and for some reason the announcer seems different and a PS2 port was planned but was canned
It’s really like Crazy Taxi, but even crazier. Just like CT, you drive without any regards for your safety and the safety of other people. But, apparently, the difference is that you can litteraly drive eveywhere in New York. Even inside a stadium, in the middle of a game or on the Statue Of Liberty(it really live up by its name). The concept is nice, but it looked badly adaptated(in terms of graphics, for the gameplay i have no idea, but i trust your judgement).
Smashing Drive was not liked by Game Critics as well as gamers also disliked this piece of crap arcade game it is no wonder this game was considered to be the worse arcade game. Here is the thing with me i have never heard of this arcade game because i have heard about Crazy Taxi when i was younger and Crazy Taxi was fun arcade game made by SEGA and Crazy Taxi sold very well. Smashing Drive did not sell well at all because it got bad reviews. For me, i would say Smashing Drive is an quite a very good arcade game plus it is a fun game.

Show me a video of completing the medium arcade without any bonus time and not lucking out on 2-3 turbo boosts from the randomized item pickup lol
Least the arcade version was good.
It's a game originally made for arcades so I can't blame them for the difficulty.
For all this time, I thought this game had been part of my imagination. Glad to know it's real.

0:17 You can see where they removed the World Trade Center reference (from the arcade version) in the console ports that came not too long after 9/11.
This game is so much fun yet so difficult. 😭😄
5:44 is it me or does the background music sound like Rob Zombie - Dragula?
nah, not close enough imo to make THAT comparison
When I first saw the title of this video I thought it was called Samsung Drive.
I know you did not like this arcade game which you would never play this game ever again but thank you for playing this arcade game! :D
I remember this game - I thought it could be quite difficult but I still enjoyed it.
Time to watch you play this Smashing Drive Game! :D
The intro is slightly different than the original arcade. You see the WTC Twin Towers aren't there because this port came out after the 9/11 attacks.

Honestly this game is so bad it's funny, I kinda wanna have it on my hands now
0:25 I am the night!
This game was 9/11 for people with functioning ears
