  • Penicuik sealed a place in the Football Nation Qualifying Cup Quarter Finals with a 3-1 win against Conference C leaders Broxburn Athletic, making it 12 wins in a row.
Both sides started brightly but it was the hosts who broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when following a corner, a shot from Ryan Baptie was deflected to the feet of Lumbert Kateleza who fired past Wallace. Kateleza would add his second eight minutes later. A Baptie free kick into the box was flicked on by Kyle Sampson, with Callum Connolly doing excellently to keep it alive and cut it back for Kateleza to sweep the ball into an empty net for his 10th goal of the campaign. He would later be denied a hat-trick goal when he was adjudged offside whilst heading past Wallace.
The second half got off to a perfect start for the Cuikie, with Scott McCrory-Irving and Wayne Sproule linking together, and the latter crossing for Arran Ponton to head into the far corner to make it three. Conor Kelly was the visitors’ main threat, hitting the post prior to pulling one back in the 83rd minute. However Penicuik saw the game out to progress into the next round.
