Nice review Chuck. I too only had this radio for a brief period before I had to send it on to someone else....which I could have kept it. Hard to let go of gear once you have it in hand.

I would also love to see an extended use video from someone on this rig. I understand the youtubers have to send this one around so not saying you do one lol just how does it hold up and all. Hard to find anyone that actually purchased this over the Anytone.
good video, great info, but its 2024 and if the radio doesn't have a removable head I don't have a use case for it in my truck, just not enough room

Does the radio do / have the capacity for alpha display or just numeric?
DMR is still a thing?
The DB40-D is a good radio, but not a great radio for it’s price point. If you buy the radio and only do analog 2m or 70cm, you probably won’t be satisfied. As a DMR, the radio is quite sufficient. With most digital radios, there is a learning curve that one has to deal with.
Hi, do you need a license to operate a DMR for personal use, no business.. just for emergency
Not in the US at least. DMR is not allowed on the unlicensed services FRS, CB, or MURS. DMR is not allowed on GMRS even with a license. DMR can be used for HAM or BRS but both of those require a license.

A poor excuse for no SSB or AM modes.
Or I could buy a G90 for 20 bucks less.🤔
