    Watching anything comedic with Bruce Willis is now bittersweet and kind of sad tbh - feel sorry for him and his family

    I was wrong. Pressed about what insights into recent Russian actions she gained by living in Alaska, Palin answered: "They're our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska." That was during a Charlie Gibson interview last year.

    It is not much what they say about her, it is what they present about her, and how valid the presented material they put forth, are.

    I remember watching Palin's debate with Joe Biden, and thinking what a Terrible Hit the gene pool would take if those two ever had children together... Yikes!

    David Letterman does "Top 10" lists all the time, and most are laughed at and then immediately forgotten. This list would have had the same destiny, but Sarah Palin's response has made sure that people will be checking out this list for a long time to come. It seems to me as if her reaction to it has brought about the exact opposite result that she was looking for. I guess it does keep her in the public spotlight, which would benefit her if she plans to run for president in 2012.

    I think her response was a genuine reaction to having a child verbally attacked on national television. She was angry and probably responded without consulting a PR person.
    So Jaellie, you're saying that the way a victim responds to a cruelty determines whether you "side" with them or not?
    Maybe she didn't respond in the most appropriate manner but that shouldn't diminish what was done to provoke her in the first place.

    • @billanthony7896
      @billanthony7896 6 років тому +1

      donna7011- I totally agree that politicians children should be off limits to these sort of attacks. Unless the kids are making legitimate news on their own, they should be left alone. They had No Choice in who their parent's were. They shouldn't be part of the process--- PERIOD!

      It kind of snowballed into a big thing because John Ziegler had her on his radio show and asked her about his calling her slutty and she basically tried to laugh it off but called it pathetic and Letterman responded... This got amplified in the media and Ziegler then got into it with someone on MSNBC and brought up that he also had joked about her daughter and ARod on the same show which Palin apparently hadn't been aware of and then prompted her to lash out more directly and the rest is history

    Isn't she the one who flipped off the camera? Actually, I think that was one of the even younger daughters. Classy. Anyway, "national stage" is a figure of speech.

    There are probably in America also watching more people to Popstars then a random documentairy program. Ratings say absolutely nothing about quality, it only says something about people`s taste and lets all face it, thats piss poor.
    When you`ve been around as long as Letterman, you can`t deny he has an audience and deserves to be on the air.

      The Mover- Well, truth be known, she gave those guys plenty of ammunition to work with. Did you ever watch her when she was doing FOX News? The woman is an absolute MORON! I remember when she debated Joe Biden. All I could think was what a hit the gene pool would take if she, and "Moronic Joe," ever had children together! I don't know what John McCain was thinking when he chose her to be his running mate, but it was a serious mistake. The woman really IS a dummy.

    Letterman is far from being mean-spirited or sick; I think the folks who think he is just can't take a good hard joke.
    I don't hear A-Rod complaining about the joke, I don't hear Hillary complaining, or even BUSH- he's been the butt of numerous Letterman jokes, and he takes it and takes it well, even had Dave perform at a White House Dinner once.
    If you want fresh material, good laughs, and a bit of a bite, watch Dave.
    If you prefer right wing silliness- watch Bill O'Reilley or Hannity

    Well, Mikhayden, I would say it WOULD be tolerated, by half of America, just like Fox news anchors sayinng things like "terrorist fist jab" and calling Michelle Obama "Obama's Baby Mama" was tolerated and applauded by that same half.

    THAT is what all the fuss was about? Really?! I've heard him say worse about John McCain and Bill Clinton, and he wasn't joking, then. And oh yes, I remember the days when Chelsea Clinton was the butt of all the late night jokes.

    I just don't think Palin's response was genuine. She's been making these crazy criminal connections to Letterman's joke. We would've all sided with her if she took the "don't mess with my kid" route, instead of trying to make this a "cause."
    She needs new PR people

    Jay Leno is nothing compared to Letterman. Carson wanted the tonight show given to Letterman and not Leno. Conan is young, and he's talented. Dave's on a different level. I don't think he needs to do anything to out-do him, since he actually encourages him.

    I was banned from posting this answer on most of the posts about Letterman's comments. I'll try here:
    kantosiuk - If "Obama didn't have anything to do with the air force one shenanigans", flying over New York to take pictures and scaring the boocoos out of the populace- then who did? Dems would've had Bush responsible. - And I didn't say Michelle Obama dressed like a slut, I said Letterman wouldn't have joked about it- not about our glorious leaders wife.

    Letterman's bitter? He is critically acclaimed, has a nearly 20-year run on late night.......
    Oh- and he's famous for actually SUCCEEDING in his field, as opposed to Ms. Hockey Mom Maverick, Sarah Palin.
    America has chosen- and continues to chose against Palin.
    And it looks like she just can't take it.......

  • @OzzyCoop
    @OzzyCoop 15 років тому

    Yeah I agree. She was just another unqualified publicity stunt. She actually said her foreign affair qualifications were the fact that she lived across the straight from Russia. LMAO

  • @obiwanobiwan13
    @obiwanobiwan13 15 років тому

    I agree the joke was maybe a bit in bad taste, but that is the nature of being a comedian- you ARE going to tell a few jokes of the long haul that will be the subject of controversy.
    But this is Palin being Palin, trying to demonize Letterman as being a "dirty old man" and just being inflexible and unable to take a joke.
    Typical Republican. :)
    And I'd just like to point out- Letterman's the king of late night and has been at his desk for 20 years- he's there for a reason.....

  • @ilmotore
    @ilmotore 15 років тому

    ChickenCoop,
    FYI: A very similar remark by S. Palin at a rally was a joke.
    I find it very peculiar that Dems and the media sell Biden as a foreign affairs expert when he gets it wrong virtually every time the subject comes up.
    It seems to me that anyone, even someone with zero foreign relations knowledge, would have to do better as VP than your gaff machine.
    hee, hee

    A fancy-dressed, high-paid, low-life scum.
    In contrast, Johnny Carson was a class act, and a 100x funnier. And best of all, you had no idea what his politics were. He was just there to bring some joy, fun and humor to the audience, which he did so well.

    • @billanthony7896
      @billanthony7896 6 років тому +1

      DonTruman- That's absolutely correct. For thirty years nobody could tell how Carson voted. He had fans from the far-right, far-left, and everyone in between. That's really what put Carson in a league all his own!

    Letterman used to be a good comedian.He has changed over the years from being truly funny to being mean spirited. He has crossed the line on many occasions. I changed the channel a long time ago.
