Gotta love all the people who came here expecting grand prix dressage and can't understand that it's a young horse and one that's being trained for showjumping. It's a training video, it's not meant to be perfect. In several places they point out what the issue is and offer suggestions as to how the rider could change to fix the problem. A horse being behind the vertical every now and then isn't inherently bad provided it's not forced to be there for prolonged periods of time and is permitted to stretch properly, another thing they really emphasise in the video.
Would be more helpful if some graphics were added to emphasise the aids which, when subtle, are not very visible. Showing the horse's bend from the top would also make certain differences in position more clear.
Personally I think the rider has a bit too much pressure on the horses mouth but other than that this was a very helpful video and the rider has excellent control :)
Great video but help please! Why inside and outside labels on the video are opposite in 14:30 and 18:30 or 20:00 minutes into the video? Am I missing something?
my horse who doesn't tuck at all: VROOM me: COCO NO! her head being a llama and jumping normally: me: well that went better then expected, put your head down when you're undersaddle- Coco: nah i like- VROOM
she's a good horse and has a fun personality but there is no slow and you have to deal with her head being up at all times because she's short and wants to look tall and look around.
Just squeeze with your pinky like you would a sponge. It's almost used to warn the horse that you are going to ask him to do something and to be prepared. So when someone says prepare to walk for example, half half (or a few squeezes on the rein). It makes for a better transition x
Flatwork for any equestrian sport should just be dressage. Tons and tons of dressage movements, polework, and less importantly, athletic and aerobic work, like long trots and gallops.
the horse I having problems, its hard to watch. too much pressure being put on the mouth especially with a bit in. with a bit you only need light pressure, the horse looks like its in pain.
I'm sure it's a geat video but the monotonous music and voice over made it unwatcheable for me - I suppose I could turn the sound off but that would be defeating the object. Reminds me of the old open university programmes you got on BBC2 in the 70s.
ARE YOU FLIPPIN KIDDING ME.... i clicked on this video to watch something to help with show jumping not a rider putting way to much pressure on the bit the horse has a flippin foaming mouth that is not okay
CalicoCat 300 I agree the pressure on the bit is too great, but a foaming mouth is not a sign of distress in most cases. It’s actually a good sign that the horse is accepting and playing with the bit in work :)

Ida Mörk thankyou for this
Thank u someone who knows stuff 😂
It’s exactly the video i was looking for! Thanks!
Finally a video that really tells you all of the aids to use. great video, thank you!
Very helpful video with specific details showing how subtle changes of rider position affect the horse 🐎 excellent, thanks for this!
love this video, good recap, makes me understand things more clearly! beautiful horses and arena!
This is a very lovely educated rider ! She is soft and supple through her body making her horses job much easier ❤️
it would be so useful if someone could film me while riding! Great video! Really appreciated it! Love your channel!
Thank you for uploading this video, I have found it very useful and interesting!
Congratulations!!! Great video indeed!! Very good thecnical explanations !!
Wish I had an arena like that :(
Very nice. I like the way horse is relaxed all the time or how lightly it is following riders hand.
This was very helpful. Thank you :)
Thank you I training my horse to jump and I think I'll start with this!
Love this video!!
Thank u I'm trying to getting my canter more stronger and a bit faster cause im gonna start jumping bigger so I got to get a get canter
Good explanation of the basics
I love this video only problem I have is that the outline does look forced, but nobody’s perfect!
Helped me pinpoint what I have been doing wrong.
mermerjenkins nice profile pic(no sarcasm I genuinely like it)
great video.!!
This rider seems fairly competent, but the horse looks way overbent at the poll, far over 90 degrees.
Would be more helpful if some graphics were added to emphasise the aids which, when subtle, are not very visible. Showing the horse's bend from the top would also make certain differences in position more clear.
this is a realy good vid
Personally I think the rider has a bit too much pressure on the horses mouth but other than that this was a very helpful video and the rider has excellent control :)
+Dragon Girl I was thinking the same thing, the horse looks like he's being pulled on constantly. But this lady does have a fairly nice seat!
I believe that many show jumpers have rather hard hands due to the fact that in the show ring they are constantly pulling the horse back.
rockerfella is exactly like my big guy- so finally a video that i can truly relate to,.
who has a horse i do this video was so help full thank you
What an amazing arena! I found this really useful, thankyou:-)
great clip
Wonderful video.

Just beautiful
Really helpful

excellent video
Its only easy when you have the right info and practice =P
Nice I like that ....
Thank you so much for sharing this, found it very informative :)
I was wondering too! The reason I clicked this video is the thumbnail, he looks huge haha :)
He is not that big only 16"2
what do you mean by "3 little checks" using the fingers to lightly tighten?
Great video but help please! Why inside and outside labels on the video are opposite in 14:30 and 18:30 or 20:00 minutes into the video? Am I missing something?
may be explain how to hold the reins when say in the free walk. It looks like the rider opens her hands .
When riding flatwork should you release the outside rein my instructor says to pressure and release on it but everyone I see says to keep it steady
Nice
I love horses
very useful
nice
this horse is overbent
It's always a pleasure to watch a rider this good .

she's a good horse and has a fun personality but there is no slow and you have to deal with her head being up at all times because she's short and wants to look tall and look around.
3 little checks is when you squeeze the reins gently in a check and release motion. hope that helps!
Out of curiosity, how tall is the horse in the video? :)
Not that big 16"2
why is the horse all the time behind the vertical??
He's not. He's on the bit. Difference.
daretofly1999 www.sustainabledressage.net/rollkur/behind_the_vertical.php
there is a difference between on the bit and behind the vertical. No?
It's not rolkur. The horse slipped behind the bit a couple of times, but was always on the bit.
no I didn't say it is Rollkur. It's fine, no need to discuss that topic further. Still. the link is interesting, isn't it.
Kathyani Baer that was excellent information about collection. thank you for sharing
i would love to jump like the rider at the start
what do you mean by "three little checks on the outside rein", it was said for the second time at around 8:30.
Half halts

That horse is so badly on the forehand how can you call that light?

The feeling u get when you don't know how to do half of this 😂🙈

I would love to wach it all but her voice is putting me to sleep

Rider is a bauble head sloppy sloppy
