- President Barack Obama has often discussed his unique childhood. When he was 6, he moved to Jakarta, Indonesia, with his mother and stepfather. In 2008, Inside Edition traveled to see the middle-class neighborhood where Obama, then known as Barry, grew up and to find out what he was like as a student. One neighbor remembered how much of an appetite the boy had. His former classmates say he had a bright future ahead of him. #InsideEdition

John Mancuso Only for a few years until he moved to Indonesia.
I was also born in the U.S. but was sent to live abroad when I was three years old. I was away for three years and I'm sure glad my parents made that decision. I haven't been totally conditioned to a certain way of thinking and I have an understanding and tolerance for different types of people and cultures. I also got to do things that I otherwise would never get to do here in the states. I'm truly greatful for those experiences. 🤗
