ur goal is imp in selecting these kinda decisions.. if yu are seeing gold as an investment u should go for sgb with lockin period but have intrest. But if yu r saving money to buy gold for marriage that person can select gold bees as money can be safe also can be withdrawn anytime&can have slight appreciation as well .
The bees price is not directly related with market gold price as per my understanding. Because when it is trading in market it will go up and down like share prices on the basis of traders sentiments, demand and supply. Then what is the meaning and use of underlying asset 'Gold' .The gold governs goldbee price passively.
So who can assure that we can surrender / sell the goldbees at par to gold value in the market.?
If we can buy and sell it on the NAV only, it will be fine and become a safe investment.

SGB is a good investment imho, you usually get 10% discount when you buy from secondary market + 2.5*8 = 20% interest. So 30% is a straight benefit even if the gold prices stay the same. And there is no taxation of LTCG when the bond matures.
