1. Take stock of your emotions. Don’t be surprised or scandalized. Don’t be fearful. Seek to guard your peace.
2. Take stock of your attention. Be conscious of how much time you spend watching the news. Regulate the content you read. Substitute with comparable goods. Reward yourself for sticking to limiting time.
3. Take stock of your agency. Be careful of your speech with those who differ. Get involved.
4. Check your contrariness. They say x so you say y. Fear, sadness, anger could cause you to be contrary.
5. Check whitewashing. No human is perfect. Both good and bad.
6. Check apocalyptic thinking. We don’t know when Jesus is coming back.
7. Be cognizant of what politics is. We are dealing with the art of the possible. Be prudent. We can do what we can with what we have. Our highest calling is a spiritual calling. Live confidently and boldly.
Thank you for this :)
Great advice here. Sometimes it is good for me to go outside, touch grass, and talk to real people instead of another political article.
great advice, Father!
I’ve been scratching my “news” itch by binging as many Notre Dame v Texas A&M videos I could find… I’m convinced my Irish are gonna crush those creepy aggies.
It’s funny cause I went to confession to my lovely Dominican friary about it , and like you , my lovely confessor spoke very like you this morning about the whole thing. God bless the lovely Dominicans ✝️🌍🌎🌏🕊️🙏🏽
So level headed and grounded. Fabulous advice.
Get involved in local government and school boards, where you can make a difference. Great advice.
This is exactly what my husband and I are doing.
My husband and I joined our local volunteer fire department. It was shocking how much of the political angst went away when we started participating in the wellbeing of our immediate rural community. I completely agree with you.
Something I've learned from reading the Books of Kings and Chronicles is that the ruling class often chooses what is expedient in the moment over what is right. That's neither anything new nor is it the doom of the Church.
We'll keep going, I think.
Thank you Fr … I don’t even live in the states.. I live in Ireland. And I’m totally loosing my peace with the madness of it all. 🙈🙈🙈🙈😂
😁👍🏼
Please pray that the neo-Marxist doesn't win! 🙏🌹

God is in control keep looking and praying. Psalm 2 says it all.✝️🌹
Thank you, Father. Prayer is very important. God is in control. 🙏🙏🙏
Give the glory to God!
“Seek to guard your peace…” Amen❤
If you don’t feel good about either party don’t let people tell you that’s bad. Some people say vote for the least bad person.
@@koolertrek if you don't know what is at stake you really need to educate yourself. its not about "what you like" or don't. There is a clear right and wrong at stake here.
Thank you so very much, Father!
Thank you, Father Pine. I definitely need the help. Democrats have pulling out what little hair I have left.
😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
One of your best posts, Father!
good topic
“Turbo death spiral” hit it right on the nail! 😅 And thank you for the reminder to talk to family and friends. I’m anxious avoidant so working on my communication.
Thank you Father. God Bless you
Elections' season everwhere in the world, could feel as open season, so thanks for the advice of guarding our peace.
very practical thank you
Wonderful. Thank you.
I have to agree it is time for me to get more involved with my PTO.
Thank you Father, I really needed these tips. God bless you.❤
Excellent advise!! Thank you, Fr. Gregory!
I live with, and all my friends are liberals. I used to be one until I realized the truth and switched parties to GOP better allign with my values. I've lost friends, some family since then, and try to be patient with them, but when I hear total lies about conservatives I do speak up. It is trying and wears me down, and it's a bit lonely not having any comraderie.
Totally feel you on that! I’m in the same boat. Fight on my friend! Stand up for truth.

If you are an atheist, then why are you watching Pints with Aquinas? There are 2.4 billion Christians worldwide who might not agree with your comment about the Almighty.
@@oneperson4327 How sad. Well, I hope their 2.4 billion families and friends know that at best they're all #2 to a guy who's like "hmm, looks like you raped, murdered and tortured little girls. that's all terrible, but what i really want to know is, do you accept and love me and worship me me me me me meeeee!?"
"you do? alright, you're forgiven. come live with me in heaven forever. oh, and those little girls over there? you probably remember them. let's go say hi ; )"

Another thought, great idea to get involve politically on a local level. It’s always great to better your immediate surroundings than to despair about the dog and pony show that’s being shown to you all the way from Washington DC.
Your HOA, Parent-Teacher association, your parish, local government, and other things like this are great ways to find agency in your local area.
Remember that at the end of the day, all politics is local.
Thank you so much, this was really helpful. 🙏❤️ I'm definitely inclined to get sucked into a sort of "turbo death cycle"!! 🤯😂
Thank you 🙏🏻 so much as we really needed this…. 😢💔🇺🇸🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I've been really worried about the future because every country has been politically and socially captured by the hammer and sickle brigade.

I choose the lesser of two evils. Im not a fan of Trump, hes caused alot damage and division to this country that should disqualify from a second term, but then I think about my own past mistakes and faliures and how despite all that im still loved by God who calls us to forgive and love one another so how could we not will the good and extend that forgiveness to someone like Trump. I'm praying for Kamala and her party but theres no way im ever voting for her or anyone who supports abortion.

Vote Catholic values. I highly recommend American Solidarity!
Fr. Pine @1:29, you say, "We have to have modest expectations... are people going to lie? Yes... We're dealing with fallen human beings, so there's bound to be a little human malfeasance involved."
Respectfully, Fr. Pine, I believe that this perspective may underestimate the seriousness of lying, especially in the context of the Eighth Commandment. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches:
"The eighth commandment forbids misrepresenting the truth in our relations with others." (CCC 2464)
"When it is made publicly, a statement contrary to the truth takes on a particular gravity." (CCC 2476)
Even "boasting or bragging is an offense against truth" (CCC 2481), but "lying is the most direct offense against the truth." (CCC 2483)
Moreover, the Catechism emphasizes the severity of lying by stating:
"The Lord denounces lying as the work of the devil... 'When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.'" (CCC 2482)
"A lie does real violence to another. It affects his ability to know, which is a condition of every judgment and decision. It contains the seed of discord and all consequent evils. Lying is destructive of society; it undermines trust among men and tears apart the fabric of social relationships." (CCC 2486)
There is one candidate in this election who, through the "Big Lie" and numerous other falsehoods, has greatly undermined trust within our society and sowed discord. The teachings of the Church clearly indicate that lying is not merely a minor fault, but a grave moral issue, especially when it involves public figures or situations where truth is crucial to justice and social trust.
Given these teachings, I believe we, as Catholics, must seriously consider the moral implications of a candidate's relationship with the truth when deciding how to vote. It is not just "a little human malfeasance," but a significant moral issue with far-reaching consequences for society.
As I see it, it's quite simple. Trump is a flawed man, but the Democrats are a Satanic evil. Between the two, Catholics should vote Trump.
"The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left." Ecclesiastes 10:2
Which Bible translation is that?
@@christophermanley3602 You know how to use Google.
I don't care much for Chic Fil A, you couldn't assume that from all the empty Chic Fil A cups and trash around my house, but that belongs to my sister. She loves their food, so much so, she keeps a bottle of their famous sauce in the fridge all year round in addition to all the extra sauce packets she likes to save.
Can’t lose peace if I’ve never had it to begin with. The only thing I hold hope in is God’s promises.
Everything else in the world was destroyed. It’s all gone to Hell. Degenerate people, evil actions, the society itself is a cancerous tumor. I hold no more hope in this world. It’s over. Instead, I turn to Our Lord. He will guide us in virtue and faith. He will set me free from this burden, this proving ground of life. But only if he wills it.
You don’t mean that. To have hope in God’s promises is to have hope in the world. We must be conscious of the need to align the world with the kingdom of heaven, to expedite the fulfillment of Christ’s promises in us.
@@catfood1161 That is REALLY vague. I agree that we should try to align the world to Christ. Doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. I mean, even HE recognized it himself, and died on the cross so we may be saved. He will make all things new, but that doesn’t mean he will save the world from its own stupidity. Just like Pharaoh, he will allow the world to harden its heart. I mean, he allowed all these empires to fall. Even Rome. You think progress is linear? Civilizations rise and fall. Christ will endure evermore. The West has fallen.
@@catfood1161 God allowed Rome to fall, why not the same with the Modern West? You think we are any different? Oh, yes. But WE will be the ones to make all things right, yes? It is a high horse. An ivory tower. Democracy is a false god, and the West has fallen.
@@catfood1161 It is the height of arrogance to assume that we are any different than Rome, which God also allowed to collapse into death and destruction. You think WE are the ones who will break the mold? Get off the high horse.
@@AndrewTheMandrew531 I think you misunderstood me completely. Our job is to try and bring about the kingdom of heaven here on Earth because that is what is required of us, not because we think we are able to do it. God could do it in an instant.
Do not believe in election. Believe in God. Do your duty and vote informed.
I read wsj and the Atlantic, and the New Yorker, and whatever print magazines I find interesting. Good advice. Except for the strange warrior/adversary thinking that enters in here.
Are you saying ignorance is bliss? I didn't used to care about politics until it started affecting me with rising gas prices, inflation, and DEI policies being pushed.
You can control a small percentage of what happens in the political spheres, turn the rest over to God.
That title along with the picture of Trump is something.
And why would I want anything to do with that? 2:08
I don’t watch the news so I don’t get wrapped up in his demonic hearsay
Father Gregory. I understand where you are coming from, but in the war between good and evil, you have to pick a side. God gave his archangels weapons because even the Almighty knew you don't fight evil with tolerance and understanding. God spits out the lukewarm.
@christophermanley3602 They are if they attack me or my God.
@@christophermanley3602 "So because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth" Revelation 3:16
God's wrath on sinful mankind is everywhere in the Bible. For example, plagues of Egypt, Sodom and Gomorrah, the flood, even the 42 boys who made fun of the prophet Elisha were mauled by two bears.
I don't see how you can both follow liberal ideas and Christian doctrine / values, especially on the topic of abortion. One cannot serve two masters.
@christophermanley3602 "Your fellow citizens are not your enemies." Tell that to Moses. Exodus 32:26-28 Apparently, my bible quote was censored. That is an example of God saying pick a side and then telling his people to slaughter the other side.
No, none of that 3:33

It's effectively a binary choice and choosing neither is just burying one's head in the sand. Voting is always about choosing the lesser of two evils.
