One thing about Jamaicans, we wash everything before we cook or prepare. And we never cook without some type of vegetables. That dish looks so amazing and delicious. Thanks for sharing

@@africaine4889 Jamaica has a good size congolese population. Infact, one of our hero Paul Bogle, learn the congolese language in order to communicate. Even thought the population is not huge. it left a massive cultural imprint in Jamaica and the rest of the caribbean.
People dont give Congo culture enough credit in the caribbean way of life, they just say its "our culture" 😍
It’s not just a Jamaican thing to wash your food before cooking it. I am American and I clean my meats with limes lemon salt and water plus vinegar. And I wash my veggies too steam them too so. Just like avocado 🥑 island folks think that Americans don’t eat it.

I first lived in Mexico when my son was very young, and I was able to catch grouper regularly . I loved cooking it and it was almost always delicious . My son, however would have preferred say a hamburger. He told me this and I told him that I often felt the same way, but that we should enjoy this while we could have it, because it would not be available to us one day . Sure enough, my job ended and we went back to the States and very soon he looked up from his very delicious hamburger and said he wished it was fish ! I did pony up the next night and brought home fish for dinner , but it was not the same . This looks yummy and I look forward to trying it !

I'm trying to find a recipe for the red sauce that they pour over the jerk chicken after it is cooked..I recently went to Jamaica and loved this stuff.
It's called street sauce

I have never seen this fish at my fish monger's. Has anyone made it with cod, salmon or halibut? I am excited to try okra for the first time. I bought a frozen one.
