Hi thanks for the comment, I haven't bought any timber in the UK for a while so not sure price wise. I think all the timber here came to around £750 which I think was cheaper than the UK. Quality wise though its definitely not as good as the UK. Ordering was pretty easy all the sizes are metric and one of the guys in the wood yard speaks good English 😁.
It's a technique we have always wanted to try and we are so pleased with how it turned out. We've learnt so much from giving it a go - next time will be even better!
Great to see you using cold glue, most people seem to leave it out when working outside for some weird reason. It adds so much strength, not worth leaving it out.👍
Looking great guys, I was a bit dubious about all this char grilling wood but the finish has come up really nice. Can’t wait to see the roof go on now!
Great to see you starting off all the little trees in pots too doesn’t matter if you don’t know where they’re going, sure you’ll find plenty of space for them during the project.
Thanks Benny! Yea we really love the finish, reminds me of an old ship deck. We can't wait for the roof either.... The winter weather is starting to arrive now 😬.
Involving the children with your gardening is so constructive, I found my nieces and nephews so enthusiastic about it, they also have retained their interest as adults. It's so rewarding to see something you planted do well or produce fruit.❤👍
WAWWW the decking is amazing, i cant wait to see you dnjoying itmin the future. What a lovely biy Alex is, well done, so polite and humours. What a sensible lad and such a help. Still binge watching,.way oast.my bed time but cant stop watching.....
Heheh I love that you've been binge watching. We used to do the same with the YT channels we watch. The decking has been a game changer and I don't know how we survived without it for so long!
It's always the way that the moments the camera is out things like that are missed - fear not, the children (and us) wear sunscreen, hats and sunglasses. Thank you for watching ❤️☺️
I’m a little late to this amazing journey but loving every episode! It’s been fun seeing your guys editing improving on each episode too! Looking forward to catching up!
Just subscribed to your channel. I'm a Brit living in Poland, my wife is Polish we retired early , and escaped the rat race, best move we ever made I have to say it's been wonderful following your journey, I found your channel by accident. I commend you and your family, the transition may have it's ups and downs initially but when you have completed your task, you will reap the benefits long term. I will look forward to your future video's with anticipation.
Are building materials, machinery and tools difficult to buy/hire? Awesome job. My hubby is a carpenter, cabinet maker and antique furniture restorer, so it makes his heart sing when he sees someone doing it properly 😊
The quality of tools and materials is very different to what is available in other countries, such as France and England. There are a wide variety of tools available in the larger DIY stores. It's also worth noting that the returns/exchange process here for a faulty item or one that is under warranty is never a straightforward exchange. It is nearly always sent off to the manufacturer and it can be months until it is repaired and returned to you - with nothing to use in the mean time.
To be fair it the same in france with regards to returns and faulty goods and unless you pay extortionate prices for things like stihl or husgavana (sp?) here in France the rest are poor quality (but not cheap. But good to know what to expect or buy prior to moving. 😊
@@OffGridWithTheUdens we've actually decided to carry on with our original place, we didn't realize what we had already ❤ it can be very trying at times living on site!
You never cease to amaze me! What a fantastic job you've done there. Brilliant!
☺️we are SO pleased by how good the deck has turned out. Thank you for your support ❤️
Absolutely wonderful, can't wait for the next episode.
Thank you for your support ❤️ 😊
The tops of the water bottles make great covers for seedlings in the spring time, mini greenhouses!
Yes! It feels good to reuse items and they make the cutest mini greenhouses.
Nice job 👍 you used quite a bit of new timber how did it compare to UK timber prices and how did you find ordering it from your supplier?

Really love the finish guys, gorgeous!! Such hard workers ❤
Thanks guys! ❤️ We're really enjoying ourselves!
Good effort, I love that you have your little lad helping too. It's coming along nicely.
We know you have to work hard to achieve and hope we can teach Alex that too. He's quite the little project manager 🤣
Decking looks amazing, well worth the effort. Love the finish.❤
Thanks - it's made such a huge difference to all of us. We just need to get that roof done now 😊
That looks amazing a lot of hard work but definitely worth it ! Well done
Thank you very much - hard work pays off in the end 💪 now onto the next project 🫣
I would’ve never thought burnt wood would look so good. It’s amazing!

That is a beautiful finish on your deck.
It really is! Not sure how long it will stay that way with muddy boots and tiny feet though 🫣

When you spend so much time and money on a project it's important to do it to the best of your ability 😊
Good to see you checking the crown of the joists
Thank you very much - it's nice to know that the little things are picked up on by our viewers 😊👍

Yes Benny, exactly. I wish we'd got a load more to be honest. Plenty of space for them here 😁
I think you guys are really going to love that covered outdoor area!
Yes us too! At the moment, it's mainly used for Brio railroads but once it has a roof over it we will be able to really make use of the space 😊

Absolutely - we involve them as much as we can. We enjoy being outdoors and this was one of the many reasons we have chosen this lifestyle 😊

Love your family, gorgeous children, but please wear hats in the heat and sun. In Australia we know about heat and skin cancers!

Was a pleasure to watch the process, even learned a trick or two :)
