This being the first time I ever heard of the Raptoricons, I must say I am absolutely in love with them! The beast modes showing varying raptor depictions throughout recent history is just such an incredible theme, showing the progress of mankind's understanding of these ancient creatures. The robot modes are equally stunning and beautiful, with Slice and Thrash easily being my favorites. Can't wait to see more of these ladies!
@@Gaarafan007 And a properly whip-like tail-arm! The weird shield/crab-claw thing Meg's T. Rex tail would turn into never really felt like something a tail should turn into. Still cool, but Thrash's flowy whip-arm is much more interesting to me.
@@riohudson9612 Transmetal Megatron's tail weapon was quite flexible, but then he no longer had a head hand...and transmetal 2 Megatron had the head complete it's migration across his body to be the opposite arm while still being flexible like his 2nd form's tail. It's actually only while I type this that I realize Megatron's beast head migrated across his robot body from form to form...

Perhaps it's progressing towards his transition through transmetal. Not necessary symbolic more than it is showing a drastic change over time as Megatron's body is more drastically changed by transmetal. Very good observation!
The Tyranosaurus Rex is actually one of the Dinosaurs that didn't have feathers even under the modern scientific model. Sweeop and Dinobot from Beast Wars are Feather Dino's though I think.
The Raptors depicted in modern day culture were actually a dinosaur named Deinonychus. I think Jurassic park was the first culprit of this misconception. These days that's just what most people think Raptors were but they're two very different dinosaurs.

It would not be inappropriate to call them raptors (just not velociraptors) as that is a term used to even describe some of their modern day descendants like hawks. Plus it rolls off the tongue much better than Deinonychus. As for the movie, iirc, they were aware that real velociraptors were fairly small and made them larger to be the scary movie monster/villain while still calling them velociraptors and then after production, found out about Deinonychus.

Alright, after watching this. I'm invested with the Raptoricons, their concept and character personalities are so interesting. I really wish we can see more of them in the future.
Seeing an episode about a group of female Transformers that have only appeared on a single prose story (And we’re later referenced on Beast Wars: Uprising) wasn’t something that I expected, but I appreciate it (Especially if that means that we could get more episodes about other club stories like Classics or the Wings Universe)

I am of the Japanese Beast Wars generation. I thought robots were cool at times, but they were the first robots that I thought were kawaii from the bottom of my heart. But in Japan, there was no way to find out about their activities, so I am grateful to you for putting this video together!

Love these girls! "Raptoricons" used to be my @ on Twitter (until I got banned for something stupid); I loved the OMAM stories, was very exciting to read them while they were coming out. It's very interesting that Life Finds A Way was originally intended to be set in the Beast Wars universe - that expains a lot about the story's vibes!
Excellent work on the video on the Raptoricons, my friend! I've seen Matt's artwork in Deviantart, and they look too dang good! Imagine the Dinobots would recruited them as allies against the decepticons if they needed them. Especially Dinobot from Beast Wars too. And they do reminded me of the Raptor Squad from Jurassic World.
This group as a four pack would be so fun. Especially since,despite being more or less then same type of dinosaur, they each clearly transform differently meaning we'd get some really unique toys.

I've noticed that each of the raptoricons' robot modes seems derived from existing Beast Warriors. Slice has a lot of design cues from Lio-Convoy. Shred seems to be derived from Rhinox. Gnash seems to be based on Snarl/Tasmania Kid. Thrashclaw is a very obvious Megatron homage.
I got to meet and speak with Matt at Botcon back in 2011. He was working on Godzilla with IDW at the time. Like me he's a huge fan of Both Godzilla and Transformers. I bought one of his awesome prints of Godzilla vs Trypticon, still framed and hanging in my room. He also shared with me some exclusive art for a comic that he was working on that came out about 6 months later. A fun experience all around. Would love to chat with him again sometime.

I love that slice transforms into my favorite dinosaur! Utahraptors have always had a soft spot for me since they’re basically what JP raptors wanted to be, just with cool feathers!
Finally some recognition for these obscure transformers! The girls deserve it, every bit of their journey from how they came to be up to their written story is precious. I really hope that they get a spotlight in the silver scrreen, they'd be ideal for an episode of a transformers anthology or even their own miniseries!

I had come across the raptor icons before when researching for my transformers fan fiction. I had no idea who these bots were and figured they were made up by some fan, so I appreciate that you made this video explaining them to someone like me.
I never knew about these characters! I really hope they get a showing in the comics or something cause I'd love to see more of them. I also love the take of showing the different reconstructions of the raptors. Even had the hands right on the accurate ones. Beautiful.

I've been looking forward to this episode for a while. My plan for my upcoming novel series is that it adapts the Eukaris planet, characters and arc from the 2005 IDW comics, but the Raptoricons cold be imagined as some of Scale Walkers' elite guards and warriors under Dinobot (known in my continuity as Dinobot Magnus)'s command, similar to the Dora Milaje from Black Panther, with Thrashclaw being the Okoye to Dinobot's T'Challa. It's an interesting idea!! Plus, learning about their personalities really helps me with the planning stage of development. Thank you!
Legacys finished as a toyline though, not in the negative it's getting canceled way but rather the "we've reached the final planned wave" way (as far as anyone can tell anyway, given we know the name of the next generations subline)
I have no idea why, but 3 of the 4 Raptoricons make me think of Shiori Novella, Gigi Murei, and Elizabeth Rose Bloodflame from HoloLive EN. Only one that isn't drawing a parallel in my head is Gnash...
Matt Frank also worked on multiple Godzilla comics and artwork, so he knows how to draw dinosaurs and kaiju in general

All of these designs are utterly amazing. I'm not even a huge Transformers guy but I would absolutely buy a Slice toy.
I've been looking forward to this episode for a while. My plan for my upcoming novel series is that it adapts the Eukaris planet, characters and arc from the 2005 IDW comics, but the Raptoricons cold be imagined as some of Scale Walkers' elite guards and warriors under Dinobot (known in my continuity as Dinobot Magnus)'s command, similar to the Dora Milaje from Black Panther, with Thrashclaw being the Okoye to Dinobot's T'Challa. It's an interesting idea!! Plus, learning about their personalities really helps me with the planning stage of development. Thank you!

Legacys finished as a toyline though, not in the negative it's getting canceled way but rather the "we've reached the final planned wave" way (as far as anyone can tell anyway, given we know the name of the next generations subline)
