I started my journey with the slx. Not having the external adjustment really helped this beginner. I believe in the product. Have a bunch or the DC my favorite for sure. Thanks for the awesome review Debo
I love when you review different eguipment. Thanks
Love the reel & rod reviews, your opinion & info is a big influence on my gear purchases. I just got the SLX 70 this winter, looking forward to getting it out there this year. Gotta love those smaller scale aluminum body reels.
Appreciate that a lot man!
Great information Debo. Makes me want to try one out!
Love these gear reviews! Lews is tough to beat but I did pick up a Fuego to try this year and do plan on grabbing a new SLX to try
Yes, love the gear reviews, comparisons.
I'm 82 and have tried them all and settled on Shimano for their consistent reliability. Lew's and Daiwa are a close second.
Good stuff. I love seeing what's in the new reels
“Who needs a fancy DC” love that brother this helped solidify my choice I have the curado K love it I was gonna get a 13 fishing reel which I do like them but after trying the Shimano line up this slx A is so smooth I don’t regret it one bit love me some Shimano
Definitely glad to see these reviews coming back in. I’m going to be ordering a new reel, maybe I should send it over for a review first. 🧐
Love the reviews Debo!
Great video! I really like the gear reviews. SLX DC is a little loud, but you need external adjustments for a baitcaster. I think abu revo x has a funny placement of side plate opener. Keep doing these types of videos very informative.
Love the reviews, gives me more ideas of where to spend more money while I wait for the snow to melt!
The only baitcaster I own. I’ll definitely try this one out.
Great Job!!!!! I also miss tackle Adviser.
I’d love to see a head to head review of the $100 reels! I’m looking to upgrade to this price point from my beginner combos soon. So this would be helpful!
Excellent review. I've been fishing with the curado for a very long time(currently have 6) but I recently bought a slx xt and have been very impressed with it.
Good video thanks Debo
The two springs setting straight up is the spring tension on the spool. When you put the side plate on it loads the springs that push against brass idle gear that the spool pin sets in. Just like a Diawa.
Thank you, Debo! I have the SLX MGL on a 13 Fishing Omen Black 7-4 MH Moderate fast. Love that combination for its versatility and feel. I think it's a great idea to focus on this price point, as there's a lot of competition among brands. Keep up the great work!
Yes, this $100 spot is a great bang for the buck!
Just picked up the speed spool. Can’t wait to get it out
The Tackle Advisor reviews were awesome!
Definitely like the rod/reel reviews. Yea man mix it up. We love it all !!! ✌️😎🎣
The only budget baitcaster reel that I've never used maybe I will get blessed to own one🙏
Yes, casting comparison of these reels!!!!
I do like baitcaster reviews! Man if I could pick I'd say do a casting comparison video of these next but have a smaller portion go to casting lighter lures to showcase the if MGL works as advertised.
As always, great video Mr DEBO, always great to see your notifications pop up! Especially when its a gear review video
Thank you brother 🙏
Great vid! Just used my first baitcaster at the end of last year. Excited for the ice to melt and get out there for the spring bank angling season!
Me toooooo!!!
Good to see they weren't shy with the grease.
Love your reviews - great camera work to focus on the details you are explaining opposed to others trying to explain what their cameras are not focusing on. Stay honest and consistent, and those that go "it didn't work for me" are just trolling and obviously needed a different product (ie square peg into round hole?) Be blessed and tight lines!
Yeah, a lot of gear really comes down to preference, brand loyalty, etc. I'm never mad at a different opinion if there are legitimate facts to back it up.
Nice review. I'm thinking about picking one up!👍
Debo gear reviews are the best!!!
Great review bro!
Love the review videos & I’ve never used shimano reels
Thanks Debo. 🙏
Solid review.👍
I can’t wait to get the new slx from what I heard from Matt at TB he said the beefed the gears up and it feels way smoother
I learned real quick on the SLX, that when you want to access the braking system you have to open that casting tensor knob all the way. If not, you could break the latch that swinging door.
Yep, always have to watch that with the side plate!
Best part of the new was that the old ones went on sale for $70 locally.
I would go with the XT version, but then again I rock the Chronograph Mgl whenever I can! Except Frogging Debo got to love the Daiwa Tatula 150! Btw silent tune come in different ways, some springs, o-rings, washers or bushings. As long as they work ok with me. Thanks for the review!
Great video! Quick comparison of the schematics should detail the difference. Keep the up the excellent content!
Love my slx, super smooth, will maybe have to look at these new ones to replace some older none slx reels
Love the reel reviews 🖐shamano fan boy
Good video!! Question on the internal breaks is out “on” and in “Off”?
And I love the review videos I've always trusted your opinion
I benefited a lot from your 100 dollar workhorse reviews previously. That LFS is still one of my favorites. Very curious on the new SLX and that Abu Garcia. Workhorse head to head!
Great Video my Friend and I have the Caius and the new LFS and I know the Magnetic Brakes are much easier to dial any Lure in compared to the Centrifugal Brakes. I struggle with lighter 1/4 ounce stuff with the Shimano but the Lews will Zing anything I tie on and dial in quickly. I would like to try the SLX though and I will say that 40 dollar Caius is as smooth as any Reel I’ve ever handled. I was able to get both second hand for under 100 bucks new without a box of course on YOUR recommendation from the EBay and I couldn’t be happier thank you. Semper Fidelis my Friend
Thanks debo, it looks like a solid reel.
Love the SLX XT!
"Rubbing the shaft" 😂 sorry! I'm sorry okay I'll focus now! Great review, I like how you compared them to the other 100 dollar reels. Very useful information when trying to decide what to buy at a certain price point.
Watching this while we get another coating of the white stuff🌨... Love the table top tear down and comparison. Great job covering the "updates". Anxious to hear your thoughts after getting it on the water.
P.S. We need more gear vids!!
No!! I live in iowa and am currently in Missouri I don't want to come back to snow.
I'm sick of winter!
Nice breakdown Debo, I like the gear review. I see you have left and right handed reels, do you use both?
Stand up review by a stand up guy- bonus points because you got the lefty! Question- is there a bearing where the gear shaft connects to the frame? On the old SLX it’s just a bushing and on theres an actual bearing on the LFS. I don’t think it’s a deal breaker, but thought there should be a bearing there instead of a bushing
Im a Lew's guy but I've casted my buddies alot, smooth reel.
bro i love baitcatser reviews!
Man after my own heart, fishing left handed is the only way I fish. Crazy since I am right handed but feels right. I have several Revo X that are several years old that I am looking to upgrade. I may have to look at the Shimano’s to upgrade. Thanks for the great reviews on the reels. 🔥
👊👊👊👊👊
I love all three of my SLXs but I have an old Tatula and the T-wing definitely makes a big difference imho. I know it’s a dream thatd never happen in a billion years but a high end Shimano with a T-wing would be a dream lol
Thanks for the vid. Definitely yes to a $100 head to head cast off.
I’d like to see a Debo 99 dollar Reel shootout like the Reel Test Guy did but a DebosFishing Edition would be amazing.
I did notice during research that a lot of the Reels have the same Braking, the dials and number of magnets are 5 in the Lews and the Abu Revo. I can’t see a better Reel for 100 bucks or less than the Lews LFS I really can’t especially for an Old Beginner DAV like me it’s so easy to dial in.
Goooooood review there Ddddddeeeeeeeebbbbbbbooooooo!!!! That reel looks like it’s still one of the best bang for the buck reels out there. You should check out the new SLX DC XT. It’s super slick!
Always have been more of a Diawa guy. But looking at that size comparison alone. Even with larger hands , just seems a lot easier to deal with. Not a fan of the internal only braking but. I see the use that hing wing deal , like last king has for a couple years. I do like that as well . Nice to know I'm not dropping a side plate in the river.
Debo love your videos!
Now I've got to go find your video on the SLX XT which I I saw on one of The Real Tests videos. If I had my druthers I'd get an SLX DC XT but that's a JDM product. Who knows maybe I will get one.
Oh shoot, you didn't do a video on the SLS XT. Please consider doing one.
If you could only have 2 rod to bank fish with. 1 being a baitcaster the other a spinning rod. And you had to be able to throw everything from top water, chatterbaits, and Texas rig to weightless, Ned, and drop shot. What two rod setups would you use?
I'd liked tackle advisors also
Sir’ do you have any slx 151xg brake system adjustment vedio?pls share
SLX XT is awesome! Worth a few more dollars to be able to fine tune and externally adjust your breaking.
I like them too but I think ima gonna grab the dc version
Greta content. Love this type of vids.
This is Roland mcClendon in love with my shimano curado 200dc
Like to see how good it casts out.
I’m gonna need you to take it out on the water 🎣 and report back
This^^^ and also all $100 baitcaster cast comparison
I can do that for sure!
Lol
you should do a casting comparison of the sub hundred dollar reels.
You should totally do a $99 bait caster casting battle
I love Abu Garcia bait caster reels and spinning reels 👍🔥
You taking it apart reminds me how much I dislike cleaning baitcasting reels! Lol
Another banger!
Slx vs lfs. So tough. Both are reliable, fit well, and work. Differing brake systems with metal frames. If I think I’m gonna mix in some pitching I grab the slx because I like centrifugal brakes better than the external magnetic. That’s about the only edge the slx has over the lfs. Other than that for $99 slx is perfect for bank fishing.
Both are really good reels!
Good to know it's essentially the same reel, and that's not a bad thing cuz it rules!
Definitely a solid little reel!
Lost my DC side plate LOL.. Good stuff buddy!
Perfect example right there!!!
Yes Tackle Advisor was the shit ! Said he doesn’t post anymore 😢
I dig the SLX’s-They remind me of the Curado E’s but cheaper.
Do a comparison on slx A rods
Thread pitch was the words you were looking for
Casting competition!!!!
Would love to see a reel comparison of the $100 reels where you try different weight categories for lures. Basically how the reel does when casting lighter lures like a weightless senko or heavier baits like jigs/ 6” mag draft (stuff that doesn’t necessarily requires a dedicated reel like bfs or giant swim baits).
Have you checked out the Daiwa CA 80? Easily my favorite $100 reel!
I think the SLX XT is the sweet spot. Would love to buy one but I have to stop! Way too many baitcasters! 😂
You gotta try the BPS Extreme reel. Casts a mile.
do more reel casting battles
I own the SLX DC, curado dc, And many more. Just a fan of shimano, I’ve owned most if not all brands and well they collect dust, expensive way to find out that shimano is the best bang for the buck in my costly opinion
SLX A or Lews LFS.? Still unsure. This video was very informative. Only reason im not fully committed on LFS is the handles
I use the curado line i need to try the SLX line
The SLX was my first $100 reel, I love it. Recommend it to anyone that has a $100 budget
Me too!
Brother, where did you buy it from under 100$ ??
@@eldhosenvarghese6995 my local Academy has it for $100 but i got it for $75 last Black Friday. Sorry im just seeing this
I have 3 and lovem
Hey man followed this but I can’t seem to get these handle and drag set up right again handle feels to loose if I tighten drag and then it doesn’t loosen well the same way again any tips
hi, i just got this rod and i am new to baitcasting, how do i adjust the breaks?
Please do more reviews and gear openings maybe the next gear review can be a Denali rod 😉
I’m looking to get a dc baitcaster is the curado still the way to go? Or is there a new version? I just don’t want to drop 300 for one and bam a new one drops lol thanks for the help
I have a shimano chronarch ch100b i been trying to upgrade to newer models. Which shimano baitcaster reel be about the some
13 has the same star drag click system
