I understand- CANE FLOW-- is like KENPO-- one move leading artistically and logically to the next.. as a dance, but very very effective. I have high ranking black belts in kenpo, hapkido, tenshin-aikido, wing chun and jeet kune do-- but with getting mashed between 2 trucks in 99- it's a perishable skill, and all pretty much GONE. Mentally, however, I will have understanding of the why...
Which would be BETTER ? Sobreviencia or ACSD standard training? About how long does it take for each to get really GOOD- maybe certified to teach? I'm retired and can work daily.. but I have health issues to work through too.
Thank you for commenting and your inquiry David! - "Better" would be based on your personal interests and needs. Both ACSD/SV are similar in technique, strategy, and philosophy. Both circumvent injuries and both emphasize empty hand translations. Not surprising since the founders have similar martial /combative/health care backgrounds. The main difference lies in that ACSD technically makes use of a Cane with Horn/Crook whereas SV does not emphasize horn/crook handling. While SV is movement based, its' flow does not take into consideration horn/crook whereas CaneFlow does. Robaina's expression of SV in his flows has led to the term SV Flow which combines both seamlessly and is quite popular within ACSD. Maestro Ruiz has also encouraged Joe Robaina who has a knack for bringing clarity to SV principles to share the "SV not seen with the naked eye". This implies there is more to SV than the untrained eye can pick up. Both ACSD CEC (Certified Cane Empowerment Coach) and SV Instrcutor can be attained relatively quickly compared to most programs, the difference is ACSD Core has a structured step by step curriculum that is duplicable and can be implemented quickly with both written/video curriculums and unparalled support. SV was never meant to be shared with the world. Think of it more as principles you can readily apply to everyday living with a strong emphasis on peaceful conflict resolution. ACSD is a licensure program, SV is not. SV simply requires demonstration and soild grasp of its' principles as a requirement for Instructorship. This makes it easier to dessiminate for the masses whereas ACSD requires an interview and has a built in filter to weed out "undesirables". Meaning, financial affodabilty of the ACSD CEC licensure does NOT automatically grant CEC status and ACSD is not interested currently in mass producing Coaches.
