I really do get to learn a lot from your work. Lots of love and respect to you sir, and thank you PowerDrift for giving us such excellent content.
@Shumi: I agree with you when you say easy to ride bike would feel slow. Never though it in that way, but in retrospect it makes sense. I ride a Pulsar 135 LS and I 'feel' it's a fun bike in city traffic. This is something I 'felt' the day I started riding it as you call it in "Flow state", constantly keeping it in it's sweet spot ( around 6000 to 8500 rpm). It does not make a lot of torque or power with that buzzy engine , barely crosses the highway speed limits, but it does walk up and down the rev band quite well. That meant I can bang through gears 3 to 5 on open stretches, then blip down one or couple of gear as the traffic slows down then back up again. This constant choreographed dance made my office commutes a lot more engaging and may I say it, fun. While doing so I used to think I was doing crazy speed, but a quick glance down would reveal a 2 digit number. That said, how do you think these Pulsars stack up to that use case ? Are they more Yamaha FZ like or still a Pulsar just with relaxed riding cadence. Not upgrading my bike, just in search for different riding experience.

PD release a video to justify this bikes behalf of Bajaj. Yes they made genuine points. I wonder why they didn't put these same logic in hornet 2.0 and cb200x reviews.
The thermal stability management system is THE ONE AND ONLY reason why Pulsar AS siblings failed and Bajaj discontinued it. AS had a tiny twin spark air-cooled engine that produced 17+bhp with very front heavy handling. The bikes' engines heated like aloo paratha during summers. Very often it stopped and ceased to start up again after a severe 8k-9k rpm haul. The sweet spot for my AS was 4k-5k rpm which made zero point to validate the 17bhp considering the peak torque was at 9k rpm. That bike, was a bad bad experiment. Bajaj literally skipped R&D there, and many of the customers like me suffered that in terms of maintaining a pseudo-performance 150/200cc engine with not so commuter oriented design and handling.
Wow this was a perfect explanation about the technology and literally every thing the company decided to put on their bikes that we needed to know as to why ? Ha ha hats off shumi 👏 very educative naration . I request you guys for the reviews and q&a for the xpulse 200 4v as well . Thank you

Great video.. I think Bajaj never announce the phasing out of a motorcycle, it's nothing new. It's always the journalists and dealers who inform us. I think Bajaj does that to ensure they can relaunch the product if the replacement doesn't work. A hope they revive the V brand and lauch a V250. We like you to examine the levels of vibration and rattling in the new Pulsar bikes with the ones provided with a perimeter frame. Also why these bikes could not have been designed with a kerb weight of 154 kg the benchmark set by FZ25?. Why have the weights of Bajaj bikes climbed over time ie KTM 390 has added over 30 kgs since the first introduction. How is Honda CB 300 made with such a low kerb weight ? (Now not available in BS6). Do keep up your informative videos. 👍
Japanese bike makers have a lot more experience than Bajaj in designing engines and chassis. Engine casing is one area of weight reduction. Fortnine has a video on this in which he explains how much the casing thickness has reduced over the decades. I suspect Indian manufacturers still have some catching up to do in this area. Still, 6 kilos sound much better then D250's 20 kilo, making the latter a deal breaker. 390 is not 30kg heavier today, what gives you this idea? It could be a few kilos due to change in exhaust from under belly to a conventional one, bs6 additions, etc. Still, it remains as the lightest in its class. Check the weight of cb500, it is quite heavy to its disadvantage.
@@lvvenky9973 I found an old figure of 139 kilos of dry weight, without engine oil, fuel, etc. Weight wet was 154. Today the dry weight is 163 and wet weight is 167 kilos. Yes, weight has increased, but this duke is a different model than the old one. You were comparing dry weight of an older bike with the wet weight of a newer bike, which has a lot more electronics and emission control stuff.
I think it would have been easier for Bajaj to provide the 6th cog rather than explaining the absence of it.. I understand the peak power and torque is available quite early in the rev band so they didn't feel the need of it.. But the same Bajaj felt the need of a 5th cog in the Platina 110. It took them 15 years to listen to customers to find a true replacement of the Pulsar 220 and I wonder who the customers were who asked Bajaj to stick to a 5 speed unit. Times have changed and the competition has moved ahead.. so, banking too much on the emotions of the yesteryears Pulsars and providing a bike with almost no USP is like forcing it down your throat. I ask for your forgiveness in advance for what might look like negativity.. but this is really depressing.. forget 3 Sparks and liquid cooling.. the least that was expected from the 250 was to have Oil Cooled, 4V and 6 speed or were we expecting too much.
If you are keen on the pulsar 250 and upset after the launch this the video and undecided on what to do , this is the video you need to watch. Fantastic explanation by shumi sir . I am really hoping PD team can make one such video on the Honda cb350 and the Re classic 350 which is again a huge customer market and will be very helpful.
It's a brilliant justification... No doubt.... But I guess speculating the consumer's "NEED" n "WANT"... Anything above 1.2 Lakh price tag, not having a 6th gear is a deal breaker.... I guess Yamaha has faced it quite well... N hv reflected in the sales as wellm... I guess bajaj should sort this conundrum via Marketing (Ads)! And as always the best motoring journalism is right here😎 "."
Hatts off to Shumi sir, you explanation was equally sensible and knowledgeable as one of Bajaj's directors. Keep up the best work and looking forward to see such contents.
Hello sir, I am looking for a bike which is good for daily cityride, office going, occasionally / regularly long distance ride(max 60km) including highways, ladies friendly pillon seats for mother and future wife. Are F250 and N250 capable of? If yes (I think it's a big YES), whichone should I buy? F250 or N250? As they look same, but as far I know N250 is good for cityrides , turning and all and F250 is good for those who do highway riding a lot or we can say for those who do daily basis for commuting
Bravo, great video! I wish you can do something like this or even the usual review on the new apache 160 4v with ride modes which seem to get no attention for some strange reason :)
Very good videos they are ! As you explained that the gearbox (for the pulsar) when in development was ratioed by deciding the first and last gear ratios first and hence filling the gap in between appropriately, and therefore adding the 6th gear would've slotted in between these two (first and last) gear ratios. But what if while adding the 6th gear, they move the last gear ratio a little taller and hence filling in the gaps which mates to the expected torque demand ?
I am a pulsar owner for the last 15 years and I am in search of a new motorcycle, was confused between the NS and the N series. Your explanation about them helped a lot to understand their characteristics. Excellent!!! Please continue with the series . . .
Which one did you buy ? Ns200 or N250 ? Or domi250 ? I'm interested knowing the answer as you have already own pulsar for 15 years. Please do leave your reply waiting for it.
@@tmpblurry4614 Sorry for the late reply but you will be surprised I bought Duke 200. I know such a transition must have a good reason so let me explain why not pulsar. In my owner's experience with pulsar it was a machine that doesn't cost me more money but it cost me my time to actually keep it in good condition. The spare parts are cheap for pulsars but the duration in which they have to be replaced was very frequent so almost I used to be in the garage every damn week. I wanted premium quality parts that didn't cost me time like pulsar did. So Duke was the best available option which is a premium category product from Bajaj. Hope I have answered your question with some extra details 😁
@@abhishekshrivastav3825 I decided to buy R15 as I'm a student and what's your thoughts on this ? After listening to your review I think I don't really want that much performance so NS200 or Duke 200 couldn't make it in my list. So R15 or N160 or Honda Unicorn or Hornet 2.0 so I decided to go for R15 as it has performance of 155cc if needed and mileage of 155cc so my family will be happy to see bike eating less fuel

Great n technical answers.....will definitely leave everyone fully satisfied......it was knowledgeable listening to an expert like you....hats off buddy.......keep up the good work...
one question which was not covered probably was that of optional dual channel abs like RE, reason being as you it can seem slow but actually not slow can be deceiving in terms of application of brakes and thereby necessarily having dual channel abs atleast as option, do you think it may not be necessary having practically ridden? can you get dual channel abs in servicing?
I know we can't ignore the availability of torque but I still feel they should have named it Discover 250 rather than a Pulsar. They had around 8 years after the NS to develop all of that tech. I am not convinced with this justification for Pulsar brand especially when they have the NS which came back some 8 years back. It's an insult. Anyways, they are enjoying the market share with no competition so, their thought process is understood.
Before pulsar n250/f250 there are no confusion between pulsar 220 and pulsar ns/rs because power figure are different, in the same way when ns/rs were updated there will be confusion between n250/f250 with ns/rs.
You dont need to worry about the ns and rs because they are going to stop making them. Gonna miss a ktm engine at low prices. But I hope the new ns is just amazing and it releases next year. Thanks for the informative video shumi sir.
I am 5'11 tall, I feel it is having shorter seat arrangement. Does that make feel discomfort while riding/after like back pain/shoulder pain ? I am planning to buy F250
Sir whether mt or n250 is worth buying As their price is approx same But many says that pulsar engines are totally not reliable and harsh also says that as like for example n250 may give 30 34 mileage that is not justified for 250 cc i think So only I think to take mt 15 rather that n250 Please answer dear I am waiting for your ans
Waiting for : 1.R250 - replacing rs250 - may it get a racing based engine like cbr 250r - with - 27 ps power 2.N150 , F150 , R150 - may it get a better engine with good engine figures. With - 19 ps power
WOW!! this was a great video... it wasnt just about the pulsars but motorcycles in general....Very informative and love the calmness in his voice....keep it coming!!!
Hahahahaha 😂😂😂😂😂, this video single handedly, let's not call it addressed but rather destroyed everyone who's been bitching about the pulsars and pushed them back into their burrows. This was the single most satisfying video I've watched, especially after the not so great review by Varun ( which I didn't expect from him ). Shumi being a boss as usual !!
help me with riding position for R15 V4, switching from AS200 to R15 V4 I feel so much back pain, will it be hard to commute in traffics! Or is there any way to raise handle bars, I have seen some videos on UA-cam for V3 not For V4. Or shall I do any modifications to make it little extra comfortable to ride in city and highway! Or is it just my mind set that switching from AS200 to V4 is causing these many questions
Just can't wait the range of motorcycles & their performance when shumi becomes the head of R&D of a company.... This man is lit 🔥... This is what reviews are all about👌👌
I think the Pulsar N250 has decreased in design and liquid cooling features (compared to the NS200). Using air cooling is actually a setback compared to the NS200. The best NS200 design and underbelly exhaust features are great. The advantages of the N250 are only in the slipper clutch and projector lamp. The rest I prefer NS200
So the NS/RS are better handlers. How about rs200 vs duke 250? I know one is much more powerful than other, but which one is more friendly/easy to ride fast? I think the new pulsars might be a bit too offortless and uninvolving for me. Am looking to buy my first bike, a pre-owned one at that.
Confused between fzs25 and f250. Upgrading from fzs v3 and want a refined bike with good economy for daily office commutes and occasional highway touring. I'm very doubtful about refinement and reliability of bajaj engines as i haved ridden few old bajaj bikes and they were vibrating like hell. I need bike for long term.

What an informative video!! Everything discussed in details and on point! Great work Team Powerdrift!
Shumi is the only genuine motorcycle guy he knows everything about bikes do such videos on new bikes THANX
How beautifully Shumi answers the question - "Are they slow "
Was just awesome ❤️
Hatts off to Shumi sir, you explanation was equally sensible and knowledgeable as one of Bajaj's directors. Keep up the best work and looking forward to see such contents.
My 6 months old son kept smiling while we watched this video together. It's that good @Shumi
Hello sir,
I am looking for a bike which is good for daily cityride, office going, occasionally / regularly long distance ride(max 60km) including highways, ladies friendly pillon seats for mother and future wife.
Can shed some light on offset crankshaft pros and cons
wow! i learnt a lot about motorcycles today. thanks to shumi and pd! pls keep making more of these
I like the explanation on the slowness.... its the most rational and justified answer i heard in a long while as a rider.... Thanks very much Sir.....
Good elaborate answers from you. Always get to hear from you, plz also make video of comparison between yamaha fz 25 & pulsar n25 and f25.
In this video ,,, I learnt more than what I had learnt in my first year of engineering about the IC engines..🥰🥰
What about pillion comfort?
One of the best analysis on newly launched bikes... Just amazing 👏
Felt like watching behind the scenes of an acclaimed movie
Thanks Shumi
10:30 , on point Shumi !
Believe me Guys if you follow powerdrift seriously then you dont want to see this video because you already know all the answers. Shumi taught us all the things in past videos. He tailored all the answers for pulsar 250's . Powerdrift is a Worthy channel !!!
Bro this is one of your best videos, and thank you for all the info
Great n technical answers.....will definitely leave everyone fully satisfied......it was knowledgeable listening to an expert like you....hats off buddy.......keep up the good work...
An absolutely amazing explaination of the new pulsars
Will really love to see more of these videos shumi ,loved it bro .
Explanation is very good ..👍🏻
🙏 बढिया विडियो सर बजाज के इस नये अवतार से ग्राहकों को बहुत अचछा आपशन मिलेगा बाईक खरीदने के लिए। 👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👌🙏🇮🇳
Hate the pointy engine cowl though....it's like it would stab a speed breaker or something.
This is how a video should be. The right person, with more than adequate knowledge and a very different and good point of view. Good one.
pls do this kind of Q&A more not just about 2 wheeler but 4 wheeler also.
one question which was not covered probably was that of optional dual channel abs like RE, reason being as you it can seem slow but actually not slow can be deceiving in terms of application of brakes and thereby necessarily having dual channel abs atleast as option, do you think it may not be necessary having practically ridden? can you get dual channel abs in servicing?
I know we can't ignore the availability of torque but I still feel they should have named it Discover 250 rather than a Pulsar. They had around 8 years after the NS to develop all of that tech. I am not convinced with this justification for Pulsar brand especially when they have the NS which came back some 8 years back. It's an insult. Anyways, they are enjoying the market share with no competition so, their thought process is understood.
This is the upper level of explanation by shumi which gives the reason to subscribe this channel
Before pulsar n250/f250 there are no confusion between pulsar 220 and pulsar ns/rs because power figure are different, in the same way when ns/rs were updated there will be confusion between n250/f250 with ns/rs.
Wowww….it eventually felt like going back to power engineering classes..please bring more of these ❣️
Oh very gud information but why Bajaj didn't gave duel channel abs for 250 cc bike?...
You dont need to worry about the ns and rs because they are going to stop making them. Gonna miss a ktm engine at low prices. But I hope the new ns is just amazing and it releases next year. Thanks for the informative video shumi sir.
Nicely discribed by Shumi sir ❤️
I am 5'11 tall, I feel it is having shorter seat arrangement. Does that make feel discomfort while riding/after like back pain/shoulder pain ? I am planning to buy F250
I came to know that all over Maharashtra only 6 dominar 250 were sold.
Sir whether mt or n250 is worth buying
As their price is approx same
But many says that pulsar engines are totally not reliable and harsh also says that as like for example n250 may give 30 34 mileage that is not justified for 250 cc i think
So only I think to take mt 15 rather that n250
Please answer dear I am waiting for your ans
Waiting for :
1.R250 - replacing rs250 - may it get a racing based engine like cbr 250r - with - 27 ps power
2.N150 , F150 , R150 - may it get a better engine with good engine figures. With - 19 ps power
please make more informative videos .....thanks ❤️🙏
WOW!! this was a great video... it wasnt just about the pulsars but motorcycles in general....Very informative and love the calmness in his voice....keep it coming!!!
Finally someone whose talk make sense in terms of technicality, challanges, market !
Kudos to POwerDrift ✌️
Hahahahaha 😂😂😂😂😂, this video single handedly, let's not call it addressed but rather destroyed everyone who's been bitching about the pulsars and pushed them back into their burrows. This was the single most satisfying video I've watched, especially after the not so great review by Varun ( which I didn't expect from him ). Shumi being a boss as usual !!
Need more this type of videos
Really needed session.. Tq .
Loving the content ❤️
This was good. Keep doing such videos.
help me with riding position for R15 V4, switching from AS200 to R15 V4 I feel so much back pain, will it be hard to commute in traffics! Or is there any way to raise handle bars, I have seen some videos on UA-cam for V3 not For V4.
Or shall I do any modifications to make it little extra comfortable to ride in city and highway! Or is it just my mind set that switching from AS200 to V4 is causing these many questions
Best qna on motorcycle related content ever! Shumi is a legend.
Just can't wait the range of motorcycles & their performance when shumi becomes the head of R&D of a company.... This man is lit 🔥... This is what reviews are all about👌👌
Very informative video, cleared all doubts, want more such
8:20 ahmm ahmm Royal Enfield Himalayan
Thank goodness there is a new NS200 coming. I was petrified for a second when I thought N250 will be all that will replace the legendary NS.
Shumi sir you are a legend. Precision redefined
Others reviewers are pretty much similar. But these kind of powerdrift videos are more engaging and gives more insight
Indian Express- Journalism of courage
Shumi Sir - Journalism of Motorcycle 🏍 👏 👍 👌
Totally need more videos like these please! Love this format!
