Prior to his appearance on Phantom Singer, Bae Doo-hoon was a musical actor and guest vocalist of the fusion Gugak band AUX, and Kang Hyung-ho was a researcher at the chemistry company and vocalist of the office worker rock band PITA. Forestella are good, I love their version of „Bohemian Rhapsody“ . I really think you should take a look into the Korean Band „Lucy“. They are so good and they even have a violin as well in their band. I love their song Boogie Man at the moment a lot.
Forestella is a South Korean crossover vocal quartet formed through a singing competition Phantom Singer 2. They perform songs from many genres- hence crossover. There are many really really good quartets from this competition over the years but Forestella is my favorite. The bass and one of the tenors are classically trained. One has a musical theatre background. The countertenor in this group has had no formal training. I love their version of Scarborough Fair which showcases all their unique vocals. Glad you have found Forestella!
My first reaction to Forestella was a mix of yours and that one girl in the audience. They’re phenomenal. They really turn a single song into an entire modern opera.
You haven’t heard of them?!? Forestella are a “crossover” vocal group from South Korea formed from a TV show. Two are classically trained opera singers (including the bass Ko Woorim) a rock singer & a musical actor. Personally I think they are the best quartet in the world right now. Their harmonies are divine & they can cover almost anything & make it just as good as (if not better than) the original. I had no idea who they were when I saw them on a K-pop Award show but the voices were so breathtaking that I immidetly bought all the CDs that were on offer from my favorite Japanese/Korean music shop. So glad you discovered Forestella, probably the best crossover quartet out there today. You may want to listen to their rendition of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of you”, and their “Despacito”, then move on to the more classic songs such as “Scarborough Fair”, and “”Time in a bottle” to name a few. They deserve to be recognized worldwide! By the way, they did a US tour last year, with sold out audiences.
They were individual competitors on a survival elimination show called "Phantom Singer" whose goal was to create a crossover vocal quartet like II Divo. They compete 1 v. 1, then the survivors move on to recruit for duos, then trios... and finally the Quartet. The guy 2nd from the right (Mingyu) won every round and that gave him the chance to recruit the others. Left to right Woorim - Classically trained Basso Profundo Hyungho - Rock Countertenor (zero training until he joined the group) Mingyu - Leader and Classically trained Leggiero Tenor (he and Woorim went to the same school) Doohoon - Musical Theater Actor, Baritenor They are lightning in a bottle. The show has turned out several great quartets, but none have the widespread appeal of Forestella. They continue to enter competitions, put out albums and even toured N. America last year. They intend to keep performing, but they are a man down for the next year+ as their Bass, Woorim, completes his Mandatory Military service. They have done everything from their original K-pop song, "Kool", to their new rock waltz, "Snow Globe" (which seems to be a fanciful retelling of them coming together as a team). They don't believe in genres and fear no style of song. Outstanding live performances to check out, Lazenca, Save Us (From the Space Rock Opera), Legends Never Die, Hijo de la Luna, Time in a Bottle, Je Suis Malade, Gondre Mandre (Dead Drunk), and Despacito. For an extra treat, check out Kang Hyungho's "Phantom of the Opera" audition (he sings both The Phantom and Christine's parts), or Cho Mingyu's "Balada de la Trompeta".

Welcome to the world of Forestella. I consider them the best quartet in the world today. They are versatile creative geniuses! They cover many different genres and many languages. They have an exceptional work ethic. So all their performances which are mostly done in front of live audiences are near perfect! No matter what your musical taste is, folk, Spanish, Korean or English ballads, opera, pop, trot, rock, tango, metal, bossa nova, or symphonic rock you will find songs in the forestella repertoire that’s to your liking. Because they can sing it all either individually or as a group! They are simply phenomenal! Wishing you the best with your music. I checked out a couple and I liked it!
YES!!!! First my favorite singer Dimash and now my favorite group Forestella, forest and Stella (Star). The bass is a classically trained basso profundo, which is uncommon, which certainly explains his projecting ability and his range is extensive as well. I love Woorim’s voice, they are a crossover group. My first exposure to Forestella was Nella Fantasia, which is Sarah Brightman’s song, definitely written for women, on that you will really hear the counter tenor, who was a research chemist, I definitely say Was. Legends Never Die is incredible too. But you will hear the classical aspect of the group with Nella Fantasia or Bohemian Rhapsody, I and some others prefer their version over the original, far more interesting musically, more symphonic and emotionally appropriate for the lyrics. Yay, you made my morning!!!! You will also appreciate their arrangements, their originals are awesome too.

I discovered Dimash in 2018, which led me to the "Singer Show" in China....where I was introduced to Hua Chenyu and Zhou Shen. Then I found Forestella. There is also a show "Super Vocal" which was a competition for classical and musical theatre singers. They are all unique, skilled, artistic entertainers 😎

But, for me" Je suis malade" (French) is simply gloriously 😭 The Basso Profundo (Ko WooRim) is currently doing his Military Service. And... not just us ladies, are in love with his voice. They are from a small independent label in South Korea who has groups with great vocals and harmonies. Their first group, A.C.E , is a more traditional kpop group (with choreo) and they are cover kings! Five members, not as theatrical as this, but talented in their own right.

Korean Crossover Male Quadruple Vocal Group
He made his debut in the second half of 2017 when he won the final of Phantom Singer Season 2, a male quadruple crossover group formation program broadcast on JTBC.
Prior to his appearance on Phantom Singer, Bae Doo-hoon was a musical actor and guest vocalist of the fusion Gugak band AUX, and Kang Hyung-ho was a researcher at the chemistry company and vocalist of the office worker rock band PITA. Cho Min-gyu was preparing to study in Europe by taking a master's course at the tenor graduate school, and Go Woo-rim was a third-year undergraduate at the music college.
They, who were not related to each other, formed a team through a competition process and made their debut by winning the final.

I really think you should take a look into the Korean Band „Lucy“. They are so good and they even have a violin as well in their band. I love their song Boogie Man at the moment a lot.

Forestella is a South Korean crossover vocal quartet formed through a singing competition Phantom Singer 2. They perform songs from many genres- hence crossover. There are many really really good quartets from this competition over the years but Forestella is my favorite. The bass and one of the tenors are classically trained. One has a musical theatre background. The countertenor in this group has had no formal training. I love their version of Scarborough Fair which showcases all their unique vocals.

You haven’t heard of them?!? Forestella are a “crossover” vocal group from South Korea formed from a TV show. Two are classically trained opera singers (including the bass Ko Woorim) a rock singer & a musical actor. Personally I think they are the best quartet in the world right now. Their harmonies are divine & they can cover almost anything & make it just as good as (if not better than) the original.

So glad you discovered Forestella, probably the best crossover quartet out there today. You may want to listen to their rendition of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of you”, and their “Despacito”, then move on to the more classic songs such as “Scarborough Fair”, and “”Time in a bottle” to name a few. They deserve to be recognized worldwide! By the way, they did a US tour last year, with sold out audiences.

They were individual competitors on a survival elimination show called "Phantom Singer" whose goal was to create a crossover vocal quartet like II Divo. They compete 1 v. 1, then the survivors move on to recruit for duos, then trios... and finally the Quartet. The guy 2nd from the right (Mingyu) won every round and that gave him the chance to recruit the others. Left to right Woorim - Classically trained Basso Profundo Hyungho - Rock Countertenor (zero training until he joined the group) Mingyu - Leader and Classically trained Leggiero Tenor (he and Woorim went to the same school) Doohoon - Musical Theater Actor, Baritenor They are lightning in a bottle. The show has turned out several great quartets, but none have the widespread appeal of Forestella. They continue to enter competitions, put out albums and even toured N. America last year. They intend to keep performing, but they are a man down for the next year+ as their Bass, Woorim, completes his Mandatory Military service. They have done everything from their original K-pop song, "Kool", to their new rock waltz, "Snow Globe" (which seems to be a fanciful retelling of them coming together as a team). They don't believe in genres and fear no style of song. Outstanding live performances to check out, Lazenca, Save Us (From the Space Rock Opera), Legends Never Die, Hijo de la Luna, Time in a Bottle, Je Suis Malade, Gondre Mandre (Dead Drunk), and Despacito. For an extra treat, check out Kang Hyungho's "Phantom of the Opera" audition (he sings both The Phantom and Christine's parts), or Cho Mingyu's "Balada de la Trompeta".

Welcome to the world of Forestella. I consider them the best quartet in the world today. They are versatile creative geniuses! They cover many different genres and many languages. They have an exceptional work ethic. So all their performances which are mostly done in front of live audiences are near perfect!
No matter what your musical taste is, folk, Spanish, Korean or English ballads, opera, pop, trot, rock, tango, metal, bossa nova, or symphonic rock you will find songs in the forestella repertoire that’s to your liking. Because they can sing it all either individually or as a group! They are simply phenomenal!

YES!!!! First my favorite singer Dimash and now my favorite group Forestella, forest and Stella (Star). The bass is a classically trained basso profundo, which is uncommon, which certainly explains his projecting ability and his range is extensive as well. I love Woorim’s voice, they are a crossover group. My first exposure to Forestella was Nella Fantasia, which is Sarah Brightman’s song, definitely written for women, on that you will really hear the counter tenor, who was a research chemist, I definitely say Was. Legends Never Die is incredible too. But you will hear the classical aspect of the group with Nella Fantasia or Bohemian Rhapsody, I and some others prefer their version over the original, far more interesting musically, more symphonic and emotionally appropriate for the lyrics. Yay, you made my morning!!!! You will also appreciate their arrangements, their originals are awesome too.

I discovered Dimash in 2018, which led me to the "Singer Show" in China....where I was introduced to Hua Chenyu and Zhou Shen. Then I found Forestella.
There is also a show "Super Vocal" which was a competition for classical and musical theatre singers. They are all unique, skilled, artistic entertainers 😎

Your Reaction is how I was when I first found Forestella (and I'm a Metal fan all the way back to before Metal was a "thing"). Their "Bohemian Rhapsody is how Freddie would have imagined it. But, for me" Je suis malade" (French) is simply gloriously 😭

They are from a small independent label in South Korea who has groups with great vocals and harmonies. Their first group, A.C.E , is a more traditional kpop group (with choreo) and they are cover kings! Five members, not as theatrical as this, but talented in their own right.
