It would take a pretty unimaginable event to unite the two, as after so long of separation. Economically, politically, culturally they are pretty different, even if ethnically they are Korean. If they did unite however, it is unlikely ANY foreign power would have troops on their soil. Korean history with foreign occupying powers is a sad and tragic one. Economically, it would be a match, though. Capital investment from the South and labor from the North, would likely produce an economic superpower. I wish them well. Peace out.

i doubt the south Korea president and folks folks will be like ok I'll step down and I highly doubt Kim would step down when he 100% call the shots in north korea and I highly doubt the south Koreans want to be ruled by Kim when south has freedom something north Korea does not have ...both counties will never unite unless kims bloodline is not alive or if he steps down ...or if the south agrees that kim should rule them ...untill that happens both will stay as is .. they should do a fun vote in South Korea just to see how the people feel ..and vote if they think Kim should be the ruler of South to reunite as one ..i bet it will be no....kim is the problem to much power and control I doubt he will give up his free lifestyle and greed just to be a regular person no spotlight ....
