The internet said it couldn’t be done. Refreshing the outer driveshaft (axle, half shaft) cv joint.

  • I used the cv joints of a low milage e36 328i and fitted them onto my e30 325i shafts hopefully making them last a little longer

Yes as long as they are the same size. It’s a messy job but easy to do once you get the knack of it

Brilliant. I am struggling to redo my Mercedes axles because the internet says that outboard end can't be rebuilt. I have made a custom axle shaft that uses a Ford inboard joint and the factory R219 outboard. I just need to put them back together with new circlips.

I hope it works for you. Once you get the feel of the bearings they go together quite well

How would u know if a ball has fallen back into the cup again? On the hub side? Would it not move around as freely as it would if all the balls where in there?

You would know if a ball had fallen out and I you would see it from the side you are pushing them in

Any ideas to identify driver vs passenger shaft?
I have some in parts with no notes or markings.
