The pink cylinder controls the opening and closing process of the yellow cover.
Yellow cover, blue and green rockers create a four-bar linkage.

I guess advantage of this one, instead of simple hinge, is more uniform pressure to the rubber seal if needed.

Mostly it is based on the "Try and Adjust" method.
Calculations are used where possible.
My video is only intended to show the working principle of a mechanical mechanism, not for its manufacture.

I don't think so.. it deals with weight of the cover when opening. When closing, weight helps the cylinder to close. Force on the cylinder in some position can be calculated by hand. I could try it. Also, cylinders, as first comment says, don't have problems with large forces.. although this force isn't so large that is something abnormal. There is a link to real example in description of the video. So it works!
