- On today’s episode, Nick debates whether or not the Chiefs should intentionally lose their week 18 matchup with the Broncos. Next, Nick discusses if the Vikings should be getting more respect, if the Eagles should rest Saquon, and if the public is underappreciating Jayden Daniels. Then, Nick predicts what the NBA will look like without LeBron, and makes New Year’s resolutions for the NBA, Cowboys, Jets, and sports media. Finally, as always, Nick and Damonza answer your questions.

The Chiefs have transcended the league. They never top the power rankings. They won't have anyone up for any awards. No coach will be up for any promotions. They weren't the betting favorite to win the Super Bowl until the last week of the season.
I don't think the Chiefs actually exist. They're just an existential being that collects Super Bowl trophies
Nice!
It’s actually ridiculous that this is hundred percent true lol
Yo damonza fire take on the let them fight in the nba 😂😂😂
Honest to god goat take lmao
The ratings need it😂
22:13 as a pats fan who always knew mac was gonna be a bust and never once doubted it, i have so much excitement for drake maye, shows all elite physical talents you want from a QB, he’s basically the polar opposite of mac jones in every way
As a Bills fan, he looked legit against us for the first half and got flustered by the pass rush in the 2nd half (like basically all rookies do). Pats can win a lot of games with that guy, but the rest of the roster has a ways to go.
I had my concerns about Drake Maye going into the draft, but NE got them a dude! The Pats off-season assignment is to sure up that O-line and find the an offensive guru to make sure they don't allow Maye to be ruined.
Damonza with the hot take. Let them fight!
Nick, you’re right the Chiefs are not scared of the Bengals. But I know the Buffalo Bills are. If you ask any team in the playoffs this year if they would rather play the Bengals, Dolphins, or Broncos the Bengals would be last on that list
The Bills are a better team the Cincinnati this year. That said, the Bengals are the most difficult matchup out of the 3 possible teams.
@@mdl0838matchups matter. Nonetheless, I wouldn't say the Chiefs fear any team. That's a terrible way to live your life, or play a game. There's nothing to fear but fear itself.
Saying Burrow isn’t mobile is hilarious actually
Coach of the year seems like it always goes to the coach of a team that was supposed to be terrible and ended up being good.
Yeah, it's not actually coach of the year, just like it's not actually most valuable player.
Damonzay can you talk quieter please? I prefer to lip read
If Vikings and lions tie week 18, lions win division. If they lost to SF Minnesota would be champs if they tied this week
That is so unlikely tho
Btw Drake Maye's 17 game pace if you take out the 2 Jets games where he only played the final drive in 1, and got hurt early in the 2nd in the other: 3,920 pass yards, 640 rush yards, 26 pass TDs, 3 rushing TDs, 67% completion, 16 INTs.
Aside from INTs, his numbers dwarf Calebs and he also has a better passer rating and MUCH better QBR despite Caleb having the much better offensive personnel. How many other QBs in this league do you think could manage 4,500+ total yards and nearly 30 TDs behind the worst oline in the league and the worst skill position group in the league who's best pass catcher is either 6th round pick 5'8 Pop Douglas or 30 year old Hunter Henry?
I mean obviously is pretty ridiculous to just throw out the most recent jets game, but even so, your math is wrong
If you subtract the two jets games, he’s played 10 games. He’s thrown for 2137 yards, ran for 377, thrown 14 TDs and 10 INTs.
If you normalize that to 17 games, it’s 3632 yards, 640 yards, 24 TDs, 17 INTs
You didn’t count the jets games as games, but you counted the stats he put up in those games to make your argument lol.
Those numbers don’t dwarf Caleb’s.
@CaNtHoNY127 Og post was just copy and pasted from what I saw from a Pats reporter on Twitter prior to Chargers game. Just did the math in the 10 full games he did play. You're right on the pass yards, but it'd be 26 pass TDs(25.5) 17 INTs without the Jets games included. 638 rush yards and 3 rush TDs. He'd still have a slightly better passer rating and much better QBR/completion%
I think with the added context of Caleb having DJM, Keenan Allen, Odunze, and a way better run game and oline(yeah Bears OL is below average but Pats is historically bad), those Drake numbers are way better.
SI put us fifth in the power rankings because Mahomes was benched. Please put them on the board!
wish we could hear damonza
As a Bills fan I’d love to see the Pats trade Maye and take Sanders and Hunter
100% agreed.
The fact that he thinks trading away Drake Maye and taking Shadeur/Hunter who can't even beat BYU would be a better move for the franchise than simply trading the #1 pick for more picks to fill out a roster depleted of good lineman on both sides of the ball and weapons is insane. Any serious football person wouldn't even entertain the thought and would simply just say, "Get Drake Maye more help"
@@plazik7481Except he doesn't think that?
@plazik7481 Did he say it would be a better move or did he say that it should be an option for the front office to evaluate?
@@str8Jonesing Front office should evaluate it.
People tend to take scenarios that Nick puts out and assume that he means that it's the only thing he should do.
Brock Purdy: Great from the moment he came into the league. One bad year, “I was right he sucks”
Sam Darnold: Bad from the moment he came into the league. One good year. “I was right he’s good.”
I know Nick isn’t a big Darnold guy this is just the general media sentiment
I feel like you haven’t been paying attention to his Brock Purdy takes
@ explain
@@zacharyengstrom3030 He has explained multiple times his reasoning for why it SEEMED as if he was a great quarterback. I.E. the avengers. He has held firm that he needed to see Purdy in difficult situations, and when he had to be "the man". He had that opportunity all year, and he fell short.
Nick was right about Purdy
No it's not. Purdy wins and nick moves the goal post
@derecknorman5487 Exactly. We've seen truly great QBs like Mahomes and Allen elevate their teams despite not having elite weapons. Purdy didn't have the same level of talent that he was used to, and he no longer looked like this great QB. All Nick has been saying is that he's a reflection of the pieces around him, which I don't see an argument against
Hopkins needs 1 catch for bonus. I'll cheer for him to play a snap
Nick’s premise isn’t entirely wrong about the patriots however he fails to realize that shedeur or cam ward would not go above Drake if he came out this year. Looking at worst prospects when Drake has shown flashes with the worst supporting cast in the league is pointless
Nah, Nick mentioned that on the show, it’s exactly why the Giants or whomever has the 2nd overall pick would give it up for Drake. Because he’s a better prospect!
He didn’t say they would, he said to just evaluate it, and he gave the proposal for if you come back thinking drake is better which is simple, draft the best available player
Why would Joe Burrow get OPOTY when Baker has almost identical numbers. Either Saquan or Chase no doubt
This podcast should just be named the KC Chiefs coverage
Mayes arm talent is vastly overrated. 1 out of 5 throws is missed by 5+ft. Just throwing hard isn't arm talent, it's just one part.
Enforce a minimum tenure at teams of a few to several years to restore the continuity of the league. #saySomethingImGivingUpOnYou
He pays Aaron to be on the show
So who among nba superstars isn’t taking it seriously? Jokic Giannis Tatum Shai Edwards (off the top of my head) these are all guys that play super hard and are very available for their teams. What is nicks point? Don’t get it
LeBron??? Who cares about Lebron. Nick love ya brother
Interesting how Nick just made the argument that Atlanta taking Penix was the right move.
The year long Purdy hate fest has been a little excessive, but if he’s got nerve dmg in that throwing elbow, Darnold on a tag&trade might be a good target for SF
LOL he was there already, if they just would have put darnold in the game and not put all their eggs on purdy, now they would have a great team
Nick dont start a beef w pat i enjoy you both and dont want to pick sides😂
45:13 false josh doesn't have the best record and didn't beat the other mvp candidates head to head like lamar did
Nick is totally wrong with his lions resting guys take. Listen to Dan Campbell’s presser after the game explaining his decision. You’re only allowed to truly rest 6 guys, they prepared all week with their starters expecting the game to matter. It wasn’t until last minute they knew the game was meaningless. If they played their backups, he didn’t feel it would be fair to throw the unprepared backups to the wolves. It wasn’t this willy nilly decision Nick is making it out to be. Have some accountability for your takes…
What do you mean only 6 guys? I guarantee you're going to see way more than 6 Chiefs players resting this week. The backups would just be happy getting game time, if you're a back up you always should be ready to go.
It's a valid criticism. It's easy to say in hindsight it was the right move but if Gibbs, ARSB, Goff, etc had gotten hurt last night people would be crushing Campbell for playing them.
It’s like most things in media and business. In theory, on paper, as an analytical exercise. Yes, that would have been the “optimum” use of time and resources, however these things don’t exist in a vacuum. Going into last nights game I was probably on Nick’s side, and honestly still would have been if Dan’s response was “¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I felt like it, or only “tHaT’s WhAt wE dO” but after hearing his presser, his logic is absolutely sound and it was the right decision given the circumstances. It’s easy to throw a take out there when there are no real stakes. It’s a a completely different animal to actually pull the trigger on a decision.
He wouldn’t be wrong if Goff got hurt.
That’s nonsense. Backups should always be ready. 6 guys only is nonsense too. He just isn’t smart about it. There’s a fine line between hard and retar*.
@@RyanD2558💯💯 like why wouldn't the backups be ready to go? They all should be ready to go if starters are out.
Nick from a gambling perspective, with no big names playing in preseason, in the early weeks, they arent clicking on all cylinders yet. Its easier for the dog who cant do great things, to play ABC football and make no mistakes to cover than the favorite who takes more risks but isnt yet in mideseason form ie wont yet get the rewards. Yes take dogs in early weeks, especially in division
dolphins are not losing to the jets
nick. smile a bit more. thanks =)
I normally agree with Nick but the whole idea of what makes a game meaningful is in the “eye of the beholder”. If the team buys in then let it be.
This is the difference between people who WATCH the games vs people who PLAY. All week, former players were saying you don't want too much rest late in the season. You've become conditioned to it, and the Lions offense has been rolling for months. You don't just sit players to sit. Think how weird that would be for the star players. Sit one week, play the next to get the bye, then sit again for another week. That's a terrible way to keep a team in rhythm.
Andy Reid sits his players. I think I'll trust one of the best coaches of all time over these "former players".
50:50 Crazy take... let players fight? NBA guys are too big! Look up Kermit Washington; one punch, broken jaw, concussion and skull fracture on Rudy T.
I love the lions make this guy look like a fool week after week. He looks so depressed.
He's not depressed, he's a Chiefs fan! 😂🎉
💍💍💍
Lol @ the idea of it being a "disaster" to go for the record and not get it. How fragile do you think these guys are?
We are talking about the same team that last year completely fell apart because of a “supernatural funk” right?
surely you said the jaguars should consider all options after trevor lawrence's rookie season...right? lol
He, like most people, thought Trevor was a generational talent. I've heard no one say that about Maye. So why would he say that?
@@str8Jonesing "when you have pick 1.01, what must be on the board, is you do an honest evaluation of what you think about the best QB in this draft vs your own QB. that HAS to be part of the equation" 18:03
I actually wonder if lebron is not fighting for the greateat basketball player title and wants the greateat athlete ever. That's where longevity comes into play.
5-7 more years of LeChoke!
it’s at the point where the most annoying part of the brock purdy conversation is how everyone, especially nick, talks about him like he’s some sweepstakes winner who lucked into the opportunity to play in the nfl
i mean no but he lucked into having the best situation in the league last year
@ one year. and health played a big role in the luck too. an outlier year for a team usually plagued by injuries. and purdy’s putting up top 11-15ish numbers. yet for some reason people still think he’s not good and they don’t wanna accept it.
@@ahmadpattonbey8865 Yep and played well enough to win a SB. That supporting cast failed him more than vice versa last January/February
I think we all agree he can get around $35-40 million a year. Some may think overpay while other may still think he's like $50 mil.
In any case, Nick thought Purdy could be out of the league before the end of 2023 going into that season. And others went a little too far in the Purdy praise
@@timocruz510 also missed a wide open ayiuk in the endzone in overtime soooo
@@nostradumass6248 nobody said he wasn't good your changing the narrative. Because last year the problem was "how do you not think purdy is elite, top 5, mvp"
"There are a lot of dopes in the field."
- One of the dopes
Imagine watching a full episode of someone’s personal podcast just to call them a dope. Which also increases engagement and total comments. Would that not make you…a dope?
The single season rushing record is meaningless. If you didn't get it by 16 games you don't have the record. Every top 5 rusher had 16 games.
(Really if you don't get 2006 yards in 14 games you shouldn't have the record)
When you're in a passing league era, I'd respect rushing records in more games
@str8Jonesing sure but he still got a proportionate number of carries. It's also possible to argue that in a passing league defenses allow more rushing to prevent big passing plays.
No holding back demonza is a fun addition to the show
So Nick, shouldn't the Chiefs shop Mahomes, if his numbers are down and you could get multiple #1 picks for him, and get a younger QB with a haul of picks, why not??? I know that's stupid right?? And so is your logic, and frankly everything you say!!! Just go away!!!
I think Joe Burrow should be MVP because he made the playoffs... 5 minutes later,, I think they should get rid of the 7th seed because that team never wins and it means nothing. This dude is a clown hypocrite. Whatever the eagles do, in his opinion it's always wrong. Everything they accomplish, this rat clown tries to diminish it. Disgraceful lazy work and takes
Why are you here? Lol
Cry more baby

Asking the hard questions right here
Nick has been scared/being a hater on the lions all year. He knows they are going to ruin the 3peat.
If they were healthy he'll yea I would agree. But there defense has been bad since all these injuries
The chiefs will put up 35-40 on the defense and KC’s defense is the number one in points allowed. Detroit won’t be able to win a shootout
Brother the Lions are a Sam Darnold masterclass away from the 5 seed. Focus on winning your division first
His constant hate on Purdy and need to always go out his way to critice him is really weird.
Nick never thinks he’s wrong about something, no matter how many people are disagreeing. It could be millions and he’d still say “I’m just right”
Why should care about others ?
Yes, the smart person always listen, but if you have arguments for your opinion why not to follow it and change only because of others??
@ Uh, because sometimes people are wrong on things. If you’re wrong on something you shouldn’t blindly keep believing it
Nick admits when he’s wrong all the time (unlike say Skip). But in general, he stands by his takes, which he should if he wants to be in this business.
he’s obviously not always right, but just cuz a million dumb people say something does not mean they’re right either 😂honestly in general people are pretty dumb so i usually feel better if i don’t hold the popular opinion on something 🤷🏽♂️
He insists to the end but when he is wrong he admits (he has his categories classic 1,2,3)... There are not many at the industry that admit theier mistakes @@Shiloh_Shepherd
I think the NBA's complete lack of defense, inability to manage screens, and a missing post-up game, is so Lebron looks sorta good
It's not like teams don't try on defense. With how spaced out the game is nowadays, most teams from any era would struggle to contain modern offenses. Even then, you still have teams like the Thunder, Celtics, and Cavs playing great D
Media diva like Nick Wrong critizing Aaron Rodgers is funny to me because, it’s clearly ok to criticize because is your job but Nick wrong got no talent at all and doesn’t know how football player or people that work inside football world… dudes just have horrendous takes and got lucky enough to be a chiefs fan that save his career… Aaron Rodgers has been not good but I don’t take seriously Nick wrong opinion
