I like it but 2 changes: 1. in the kitchen use closed sealed plastic bins instead of open bins. food needs to be sealed 2. bunks out and make the bathroom bigger
Pull it with an F150 Hybrid that has the 30 amp out in the bed, as long as you keep the truck full of gas you have power wherever you go and the engine only runs to recharge the battery. Family of four with young kids can camp wherever they can park it. Truck is quieter than a generator when it kicks on as well.
26k is the MSRP???? Some one at Forest River is smoking something illegal! Two years ago, you could get a much better appointed trailer than this in the 10k range. If this is what 20k gets you, I’m done shopping. I was honestly expecting this camping “shell” to be the new $9,999 offering. As my Grandad would have said, “Someone done lost their damned fool mind”
I find it interesting they made an all electric camper, then didn't bother to put at least solar prep on it. That makes no sense to me.They coulda at least ran the wiring and installed the access tube from the roof to the front stoarge compartment.
This is something I could "maybe" spend a night in, if I had to! It has everything you need, a bathroom, a bed, a fridge and a microwave, I just can't see me going to stay in one of these, more than once.
I. LOVE. THIS. And as the owner of a hybrid pickup with an onboard generator, I could still boondock if I wanted to. What a great entry level RV for a young couple with small kids who just want to camp without breaking the bank. I hope this concept spreads to bigger models.
Great to see some movement on less/no propane. I'd like to see that expand to bigger rigs. I get that electric heat is a hog (I don't know the specs.) but for park-types like us, no propane would be great. For the parks maybe not liking heating with electric, where we are in the South, people are running one, two or three air conditioners most of the year. Is that a wash? Maybe an electric two burner stove, too. Keep the great content coming!
I would never, and I mean NEVER buy a camper with an electric oven and electric heat. Thats an even bigger deal breaker than an east/west bed. Sure hope the industry isnt moving that way. I only want peopane heat and cooking.
If that’s the same electric fire place as the alpha wolves it will work just fine. My wife and I never used the gas furnace in our alpha wolf 26 rb even camping in October in 40 degree weather. Perfectly good for 3 season camping.
Love the electric heater (great placement, btw), love the space for a true queen, and I absolutely LOVE that the 'microwave' is an air fryer convection oven! Best of ALL worlds for an all-electric! I hope to see more floorplans made (maybe a couples bunk-less?) ...but if they were to expand upon just this one particular floorplan....a few suggestions: flip-up counter extension, a vent above the shower with a fan, optional portable indoor/outdoor induction stove, and PLEASE give us a 2-door refrigerator/freezer. As for additions, more AC/USB outlets (you can never have enough of those)!
Saw a 2 axle ‘wolf den’ EV at an RV show in January. Accommodations for 4 kids (double wide bunk, dinette, scissor couch) and parents (camp queen). And the only cooking device was the combo A/F microwave. That’s it. Not even a single inductive burner. Just the combo microwave. Probably end up eating out more or using as a destination camper where outside cooking gets set up for the stay so you can feed 5 or 6 for full meals. If priced aggressively, probably sell the Wolf Den trailer to families shopping pop-ups IF they have a truck/suv that can handle towing a more brick-like trailer.
Yeah I saw that one but wasn’t able to get the camera to it in time They had like 30’units here and I can get to 5-7ish in a day. 8 if the stars line up
Just buy and bring butane stove, jackery solar generator, or even a small regular generator and you’re set. Not having propane on the RV reduces the risk of fire. I hope all makers have a no propane model soon.
I bought this camper after selling my seasonal 26dbud camper and we like this more. It does what it needs to do, sleep, eat, bathroom. We do not boondock, but would be fine with a generator.
If it's possible, you should review an Outdoors RV Backcountry series. These trailers are GREAT for boondocking! We have the 24KRS. It has 100 gal freshwater, we have 510 watts of solar, 300 amp hours with our lithium batteries, and an onboard generator. I love this trailer! Right now, we are boondocking in sunny Arizona, and loving it!
This is a great small travel trailer. I like the totes. I love the microwave/ air fryer. Nit sure anybody uses oven anymore or microwave they use air fryers. Most of my friends do. We use our micro wave no fryer yet. But I think this is a great camper. Thank you Josh.
Thanks for another great review. Have you ever considered reviewing two similar RV's from different manufacturers side by side in a back in forth style? For example, I'd love to see a back and forth review comparing the Grand Design Transcend Xplor 247BH vs. the Jay Flight 274BH.
Sorry, I appreciate the effort and it's a nice little layout. But the lack of stove/furnace/propane is just stupid in my opinion. Would not consider this unit. Especially at 5500lb for a single axle without all the gas appliances? At a minimum, it needs some sort of heat for boondocking.
Now that I have switched my rv ! This is what I want but in case of emergency hook back up propane. Must be short 24? Yes solar. Dont care about bunks. Cats love them.
We have owned our trailer for 6.5 years, and we have NEVER used propane once. The way we camp, we always have power. I would welcome a no propane system RV personally. When we do need heat like once a year, we use a small electric space heater anyway. There is a market for simpler campers.

No inherent system redundancy, stick and tin construction, single axel, east west bed. NO SALE. Would love to have a second property to go to with a tiny cabin on it, but everything costs to much today. This camper or the 17b colman would be my choice to substitute a cabin. I have to look at the 16 ezs insulation because of winter camping becasue the colman 17b is insulated decent. Just have to add a dierect vent gas heater to either one.
Intriguing concept, but I think it's going to have limited appeal. No cooktop, very limited storage (though the bunk area could be adapted as long as something is done in the front to keep it balanced), single axle, open under the bed to the baggage area is a security concern and creates a climate-contol problem. I ciuld see someone buying one of these to keep parked at the house as a guest\teen\college kid private space, or adapted to an office\man cave\she shed.
Someone may have already mentioned this, but a dealbreaker for me is nowhere to sit except the dinette.. Hopefully they have one on the way with a sofa or theater seat… I love the idea of all electric
I want the all electric in a mid tier model. Something with more nice to haves but still not quite break the bank level of pricing. If I need a generator that's fine but I have a camp grill that takes 1lbs bottles of propane that I always prefer to cook on outdoors anyway.
I really like this - could you take the bunks out and use that area for a combo storage/desk area? Edited to add - really like this but they should flip the sink and move it to the side a bit more to give just a smidge more counter space.
Ironically I see two things about a budget camper I like better than higher end. In a small camper I’d keep my clothes duffle on the bed during the day and at night up on the shelf. The shelf is far better than little lift up cabinets. And most campers have too many windows. I like privacy and quiet more than panaramic views of the campground.
I am very, VERY much not the target customer for a no-propane RV. However, one of my dogs’ breeders is. She liked the idea of these and looked at them, but said she wasn’t very impressed with the build quality (I’m not sure of details), for whatever that’s worth. Ultimately they bought a Palomino Revolve instead.
The first time I watch, I didn't realize it didn't have any cooktop. I think they need at a minimum a portal induction cooktop, would prefer permanent. I would also like to still see a mount for a propane bottle and make an outdoor line to a propane cooktop or potentially grill. The lack of any cooktop makes this a deal breaker and the lack of any use of propane also seems like a deal breaker.
Not sure how the camping public will respond to this series, but this is a good basic camper for those who spend their time outside and want a place to sleep and keep food and clothes, as well as a place to spend rainy days. It is easy to forget many of us camp to get outside and get sidetracked by feature laden bigger campers.
And how do you propose you charge said cyber truck after 100 miles of towing and using it as a battery for your hot water n heat? Good luck. Honestly would like to see someone do a video about it. But it will be an unmitigated disaster.
@@craigquann it's already been done. The battery in the truck is more than capable of running everything in this camper without an issue, and if your parked at a charger(doesn't have to be a super charger) then your charger is significantly faster than the draw on this camper. It costs nearly nothing to charge, and has no problem pulling a MUCH larger and heavier 11k lb camper well over 100 miles between stops. Then when you get to your site, charge the truck from the 30 or 50 amp hookups. My own keystone 28' only draws about 3kw with the ac on, tv going, and lights on. 3kw from a 100kwh battery pack. Hm.
I was pretty excited about this one Since I pulled with a Toyota Tacoma. My options are limited. but when we got to the bathroom and the shower. I'm six foot tall there is no way i'm gonna deal with that
Josh, I’m just a little bit older than you at 57 and back in the 70s. They seem to use the word a lot. It was this revolutionary space-age technology product that was one of the things the catchphrase nowadays they use it’s taking the world by storm to pitch a product that already has existed since the making of pizza.😂😂 does anybody ever remember the commercial Evelyn would speed reading don’t see that one anymore where are you? Just wave your hand across the page and instantly you’ve read the whole thing
Scratching my head on where #6 will sleep. I like this concept. But no cooktop, and no counter for a toaster oven, etc…hm.. I agree to move fan over shower. Should also move plug to in front of sink and add counter extension. Something to consider.
"The" window😅 couldn't have said it better😂 No drawers? No cooktop? At all? To be frank, who needs a tub when you only have 7 gallons of hot water? I don't mind navy showers, saves water and gray tank room. I'll keep my propane, thanks. Though with the convection microwave, I don't think I would need an oven. "Fireplace" looks out of place in this little thing. Definitely not for me but I'm sure this will be perfect for someone.
I think this camper is interesting but maybe too much of a stripper. The bunk beds will trigger conflict in the family unless they have outlets (both charging and power) for each and curtains around each. Did the designers of this unit not have children? I don't like the bins. They need to be big enough not to waste the space in the cubbies, storage is king, and there also needs to be a strap or netting to hold them in when you go around a curve and everything goes flying onto the floor, breaking everything that's glass and spilling everything that's not completely closed. If storage is king, ventilation is the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Shame on the makers for not providing an exhaust fan, and the clear height in the shower is inadequate. I'm neutral on the all-electric. For most campgrounds where you plug in, I guess that works, although firing up the gas heater gives more of a cozy, immediate response. But the owner needs to be good and sure he's never going to boondock, or brings a generator along (in the bed of the pickup I guess), and that may not be allowed in some "rustic" parks.
Sooo with 2 100ah lifepo4 batteries you will have about 2hrs of heat @1000W? What about lights+fridge+water pump power? This is pretty much a headache with 2 wheels. No way you can take this out for a worry free weekend without running your generator for min 4 hrs a day.
@@JoshtheRVNerd but why no electric stove. At least 1 electric element so you can cook something in a pot. I get that 2 would probably push you over a 30 amp plug supply.
I don't like it at all honestly. All electric means no boondocking so no right there. It IS cheap looking with empty spaces over the bed. I don't think you can pay me to take it. No stove top? No USBs by bed. Bunks look cheap. Bathroom only has a fan?? My God. Just awful. I truly dislike this econo Kmart quality camper. I'm sorry this is just awful!!
It's a great budget RV. I really wish they would at least put some cargo netting over the pantry, I am not a fan of those bins. Do you have a video comparing the compressed air VS antifreeze RV winterizing methods? What method do you use to winterize your own RV?
This 16EV wouldn't be the rig for me. However, the 17EV model checks all the boxes for my personal preferences. Thanks for sharing the vid! #Nerdherd The Salem FSX 167RBK would be at the top the list for a lightweight single axle unit.
I really enjoy looking at these entry level units. At the end of the day it’s probably a lot harder to do one of these than a more loaded up unit like the Wolf Pup. They took quite a bit of stuff out of the pup to get to this one, but by doing so they appeared to have come up with a bit of a hidden gem here. They managed to get the empty weight of this trailer a tad under 3,000 pounds, By the weight of 2 chicken dinners, (2,995 lbs) and made some solid choices on content. Removed the stove top and upgraded the microwave oven to a convection oven, kept a refrigerator with freezer, kept an A/C unit, provided pretty decent window coverage. Included the glass door with a window. Kept decent fresh, gray and black water tankage, kept the quick jack and a hot water heater. They saved the weight and expense of the propane installation and still gave you a toe toaster. And you have a big enough axle under it to have just a squish under 2,500 pounds of cargo capacity. That is literally comfortably over a ton! In like that that claustrophobic wall between the bunk beds and the dinette is gone. The long cabinet door is cool. The removal of the cabinet doors and replacing them with totes is a good solution. I see they removed the rear view camera prep package and the solar ready prep package along with some electrical plug ins on the inside. A bit inconvenient, but workable. And these are the changes I would make to this unit if it was mine. 1) bend up some u shaped metal shields and install then with double backed sticky tape around a the cabinet openings to provide scuff and abrasion protection from the totes scraping over them. This frames are not tolerant of stuff dragging over them. Without that protection, the will look pretty shabby in short order. 2) probably remove the upper rear bunk or convert that into storage. 3) look at replacing the a/c unit with a low profile heat pump. 4) Do something to get a rear view camera for the back of the trailer and 5) install some docking lights around the outside of the trailer. (So you are not backing into a black hole where you cannot see anything you’re going to hit.) and 6) relocate the front spring bolt holes and rear spring shackle bolt holes up 2 inches to lower the step in floor height and give the trailer a lower sleeker look but maintain original suspension performance. And maybe consider adding two front stabilizer jacks. I think they have come close to nailing the configuration for this wolf Den EV-16 and EV-17. I hope they are rewarded with a cool customer response to these new units.
Ya know I said id try to leave Burning Man out of it but i think they're onto something 🤔 Picture a lawyer who's kids demand a eco friendly camper for a week. You know the ones im talking about. The ones with blond hair they spray and twist to look like dreads. Beads and drawn on tattoos.. You know the ones that try to look hippie but their perfect teeth scream MY DADDY WORKS FOR BOING! Teah, that type 😁 And for a week? Yeah the price is right! On a serious note. All i can say is to each their own. We all want things to be a certain way and if they can live with it then good for them...
Except for the price, it’s kinda meh. Not thrilled with it being an all electric kitchen, the dinette is too small for a theoretical 4 person RV, and the bunks take up too much space. Still, not a bad starter.
They should make a couples camper out of this. Take the bunks out move the bathroom over and and give a little more counter space
My thoughts exactly! Perhaps expand the bathroom and add more storage space?
Look up the same model but 17ev instead of 16. I just saw it on the forest river website

Nice concept, but they could have out in a dc powered mini split heat pump instead that roof a/c. RV manufacturers need to get innovative.
Yup, but I'm still waiting for them to include the soft start units on the AC's.

1. in the kitchen use closed sealed plastic bins instead of open bins. food needs to be sealed
2. bunks out and make the bathroom bigger

I really like this - could you take the bunks out and use that area for a combo storage/desk area? Edited to add - really like this but they should flip the sink and move it to the side a bit more to give just a smidge more counter space.
You could
They also make a no-bunk variety
I like the totes. I would like to see one without the bunks.
They're making one that way! Stay tuned :)
That's kind of where Cherokee has been making a career - "sweeping the leg" of higher dollar models with something more budget friendly
I know a guy with a Santa Cruz who tows a wolf pup, I would like to see small hard wall campers less then 3500lbs
I’ll see what I can get thank you
Could probably double as a teenager retreat in the off season. Not sure about the sewerage situation though.
Thx Tony. Appreciate the info
Netting is cheap and light. That was an overlook on manufacturings part.
That is what I have been transitioning my rv to.
To all elec?
The first time I watch, I didn't realize it didn't have any cooktop. I think they need at a minimum a portal induction cooktop, would prefer permanent. I would also like to still see a mount for a propane bottle and make an outdoor line to a propane cooktop or potentially grill. The lack of any cooktop makes this a deal breaker and the lack of any use of propane also seems like a deal breaker.
Yeah it’s a little uncommon. All elec so no stove top
Air fryers also arrive at temperature MUCH faster than a conventional oven.
Not sure how the camping public will respond to this series, but this is a good basic camper for those who spend their time outside and want a place to sleep and keep food and clothes, as well as a place to spend rainy days. It is easy to forget many of us camp to get outside and get sidetracked by feature laden bigger campers.
It’s going to be a love or hate I think
Seems perfect for the cybertruck or other ev's that have 110/220v output out back
And how do you propose you charge said cyber truck after 100 miles of towing and using it as a battery for your hot water n heat? Good luck. Honestly would like to see someone do a video about it. But it will be an unmitigated disaster.
...or a hybrid truck with an onboard generator...
@@mikemiller8170 yea, someone else mentioned that in another separate comment. That would be a good solution.
Hm.
For me this one answers the question .... When is "stripped" too stripped?
lol fair enough. I get it
I want the Flagstaff Microlite under 6000lbs 🤪 no bunk
We have those as well!
It's a Weekender Just Right To Run To The Water Or The Wood's.
I was pretty excited about this one Since I pulled with a Toyota Tacoma. My options are limited. but when we got to the bathroom and the shower. I'm six foot tall there is no way i'm gonna deal with that
Yeah that’s why I always take the time to do my bathroom selfie routines
Josh, I’m just a little bit older than you at 57 and back in the 70s. They seem to use the word a lot. It was this revolutionary space-age technology product that was one of the things the catchphrase nowadays they use it’s taking the world by storm to pitch a product that already has existed since the making of pizza.😂😂 does anybody ever remember the commercial Evelyn would speed reading don’t see that one anymore where are you? Just wave your hand across the page and instantly you’ve read the whole thing
lol yeah space age is a phrase that really phased out isn’t it
Scratching my head on where #6 will sleep. I like this concept. But no cooktop, and no counter for a toaster oven, etc…hm.. I agree to move fan over shower. Should also move plug to in front of sink and add counter extension. Something to consider.
I definitely wouldn’t call it a sleeps 6 rig
4 easy if two are kids
5 is pushing it if three are kids and one is small
Take the bunks out and make the corner space into a closet then this would be as close to perfect as your probably gonna get.
Check the 17ev
No bunk version
I’d say in comparison, it’s either a college dorm room or an efficiency apartment. 😆
Very nice as a very much entry model family camper.
It sure is!
I like shubs. I wish more RVs had them.
👍🏻 I just like saying it lol
Like the cubby whole with totes
You're a "Super Stud" Uncle Josh! 😂❤
Uncle Josh --> "The Master of The RV UNIVERSE" 🚀✨✨🌏✨🪐✨🛰✨🌙✨🌘
Ty mr moe
No microwave. Bigger fridge. Quality wet bath. On demand water heater. Seriously there are electric versions
All fair. Ty
Decor reminds me of student accommodation. Fairly minimal. Okay though.
Kinda yeah
For everyone commenting I wish it didn’t have bunks…check out the 17EV. Its their no bunk model
Yep yep!
Alert: add a induction cooktop ASAP (either portable or permanent).
👍🏻
Hi, Josh. I like your videos and some video of yours gave me cause to call my nearest Bish seller.
We appreciate the opportunity when you’re ready!
All Electric ?
Not Just No - Try Never 👎
Love it❤
I think this camper is interesting but maybe too much of a stripper.
Cute little camper👍👍👍👍👍😊😊
Thank you 🤗
Boogie woogie woogie
lol alright then
Sooo with 2 100ah lifepo4 batteries you will have about 2hrs of heat @1000W? What about lights+fridge+water pump power? This is pretty much a headache with 2 wheels. No way you can take this out for a worry free weekend without running your generator for min 4 hrs a day.
It’s not invertered. Batteries won’t run the heater. It’s not made for boondocking really
We love ours.
Where have you taken it??
Ok, unless I missed it, there’s no stove. Just the “Air Fryer”. Pretty huge omission and I see no place to put even a hot plate.
Yeah no propane system so no propane stove
@@JoshtheRVNerd but why no electric stove. At least 1 electric element so you can cook something in a pot. I get that 2 would probably push you over a 30 amp plug supply.
This “was” perfect until the SHOWER 🤬 I was putting on shoes and headed to a dealer 🤷♂️
Sorry to hear it but that's why I do my silly bathroom selfie footage - to help you know if it's the right one or not
I don't like it at all honestly.
And the bathroom doesn't even have a fan!!! It's just a vent😮
I'm interested
Our local folks can certainly assist you further!
It's a great budget RV. I really wish they would at least put some cargo netting over the pantry, I am not a fan of those bins.
Do you have a video comparing the compressed air VS antifreeze RV winterizing methods? What method do you use to winterize your own RV?
I do not but with my experience I definitely nod to the antifreeze method
This 16EV wouldn't be the rig for me. However, the 17EV model checks all the boxes for my personal preferences. Thanks for sharing the vid! #Nerdherd
The Salem FSX 167RBK would be at the top the list for a lightweight single axle unit.
Yeah a lot of dealers wanted a no bunk version so that 17ev came after. I love that they were listening like that
All electric. Nope! Bathroom too small,no counters. Not for me.
#NerdHerd 🎉 😊 🎉
Still no drawers in the kitchen, ugh! Haha. Just gotta laugh
🎉#NerdHerd.....
Too minimal for me. I got a Zinger light 259FL for 3000 more that has way more comfort.
That 259FL is a really cool model! Nicely done :)
Ya know I said id try to leave Burning Man out of it but i think they're onto something 🤔
Picture a lawyer who's kids demand a eco friendly camper for a week. You know the ones im talking about. The ones with blond hair they spray and twist to look like dreads. Beads and drawn on tattoos.. You know the ones that try to look hippie but their perfect teeth scream MY DADDY WORKS FOR BOING!
Teah, that type 😁
And for a week? Yeah the price is right!
On a serious note.
All i can say is to each their own. We all want things to be a certain way and if they can live with it then good for them...
This comment was a ride man lol
Except for the price, it’s kinda meh. Not thrilled with it being an all electric kitchen, the dinette is too small for a theoretical 4 person RV, and the bunks take up too much space. Still, not a bad starter.
Yeah for basic casual starter use it’s an option for sure
