I must say I like the idea of changing the ruleset shortly before world class events. I always felt Pokemon is not only about tactical decisions and predictions, but also about creative and cunning teambuilding. Destibilizing meta will put much more pressure to this teambulding aspect of competition.
To whoever edits the music in Wolfey's videos, THANK YOU for using amazing music from Great Ace Attorney. The video is enhanced tenfolds with music from one of my favourite games!
A pokemon I would like to raise spotlight for in similar situation is pincurchin, the ability is good and one of the rarer moves like acupressure is also available to it.making it bulky and trying acupressure is mostly good as far as i have tried.
Im really looking forward to a video about this upcoming Championship, having an entirely new meta right before a big event like this sounds like its going to be very fun to watch
Brambleghast is one of my new favorites of this gen, one of the reasons is because of its potential in its ability and stat spread. Now that tornados (a pokemon I hate) is in the game, it makes brambleghast an insane threat with a unique offensive typing
ok I never do this but like a minute in I wanna make a guess, is it the genies that's making people use the tumbleweed? They now each get a unique, more accurate hurricane that doesn't hit your partner, and all of them have an annoying 20% secondary effect such as inflicting para and burn. They're also classified as wind moves, and get eaten by brambleghast's ability. It's the same effect gholdengo brought to VGC at the start of gen 9, boosting the popularity of bulky water/fire types to combat its broken spread move, brambleghast is just a much more extreme example of this effect.
Wolfey convincing everyone to bring brambleghast to worlds so he can win with his brambleghast counter, offensive murkrow, which is one point faster than brambleghast
I wanna point out that Wicked Blow was likely nerfed for parity with Surging Strikes, since the latter's effective BP is 75 when factoring in all three hits. I feel confident in saying this because Calyrex-Ice's signature move, Glacial Lance, was also nerfed from 130 to 120 to be on parity with Shadow's Astral Barrage, despite the former not being nearly as prolific as the latter. Also, I would love if you made a couple videos on the best New and Returning 'mons in Home, like you did for the start of the gen with the Paldea dex; it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts about them!
It is really hard to position Brambleghast well. And, by what I have seem, Tornadus usage is already low in comparison to when the format started. So...
On the subject of Grass/Ghost-types, I'm hoping Dhelmise will come back someday, simply due to a funny thing with Tera-ing it As a refresher, Dhelmise obviously gets STAB on Grass and Ghost moves, but also its only Ability, Steelworker, gives pseudo-STAB to Steel moves, as in they have a 50% boost in power _So,_ if you had Dhelmise Tera into a type that isn't one of those 3, you could basically have a Pokemon with a moveset of 4 different types, with STAB on technically all of them And also if you Tera-Steel I _think_ Steel moves would have 2.25× power? Because of the true STAB from becoming Steel + the 1.5× from Steelworker, but don't quote me on that, I don't actually know for sure if it'd work out like that Would it be practical? No But is it really neat? I think so
This kinda reminds me of Murkrow's sudden rise to top tier, despite Honchkrow existing. Keeping Prankster made Murkrow significantly more desirable, and holding an Eviolite more or less equalized the Def/SpDef difference between the 2.
Decidueye's typing walked so Brambleghast's typing could ride the wind (that doesn't have quite the ring to it buts its ok because uhh riding the wind is like its middle name)
I've been using Brambleghast since Regulation B and it's always been amazing. I originally used it to deal with Dondozo and Annihilape by pairing it with Pelliper, Talonflame, and Murkrow (all different teams lol). Tailwind giving Brambleghast an Attack boost even while invincible from Phantom Force is insane and helps a lot against matchups like Annihilape, Armarouge and Indeedee, and Flutter Mane. Mine uses an Adamant Nature with a Life Orb and it does some INSANE damage. Definitely one of my favorite pokemon competitively this generation and its sort of bittersweet seeing it get more use. I will be pairing it with my shiny Tornadus (as I'm assuming many others have) to hopefully get some neat stuff going on.
Tbh I'm happy brambleghast finally getting some spotlight. Its one of my favorite new pokemons when I first saw it. I really thought it was just a animated tumble weed
I took a brambleghast to NAIC in Columbus 😂 confused everyone that tried killing it with heat wave. Glad to see it being talked about here! I love the little tumbleweed!
This is a perfect example of what keeps me playing Pokemon. It is one of the only competitive games with such variety and ever evolving metas that rewards creativity and implementation of unique strategies. Seemingly impossible offensive strategies pop up to be hard countered by unexpected previously useless pokemon that find a niche and their time to shine. The balance team shines best when they have given an underwhelming pokemon a unique toolset that goes unnoticed. I doubt they plan for things like this but giving pokemon unique identities and was of playing allows for situations like this ro even happen. Too much overlap in similarities of identity makes for a stale game of one thing outclassing everything else in everyway. Everyday i wish that other companies would attempt to learn this depth in competitive games. League of legends gets close but tends to prune out unique play styles for balancing, being too afraid of player innovation (also the player base toxicity pressuring others to confirm to conventional builds keeping things stale).
this is a great video, it also makes me think if there are so many wind moves and even a wind-related ability can't we just change flying-type to wind-type at this point
Update 00.1% of vgc players are using this mon and there are much better counters that have other purposes like amoongus with a 15.87% usage rate in vgc. (Percentages via pikalytics)
mercrow > thunderus because its dark type blocks prankster, thunderus would need to terra to stop tailwind from mercrow. This + a quick assaulter can out speed and ko thanderus or urshifue (depeanding on pkmn)
I've been using teams that use Brambleghast and I'll admit, the fact it was overlooked in the meta surprised me. I needed a good Rapid Spinner for my Singles Sandstorm team. My moveset is Spikes, Rapid Spin, Strength Sap, and Infestation. I used it to trap Pokemon like Wooper, Great Tusk, Exploding Forretress, Kilowatrel, Garganacl, and some surprising others, like Palafin and non- Dark STAB Ting-Lu. It is surprisingly good at stall, despite the frailer defenses; so much so that if the Defenses and HP were a little better, I'd argue that B.ghast would be one of the best Curse- using Ghost type Pkmn. Although it lacks Harvest, like Trevenant, it does use Strength Sap superbly well for recovery. Pokemon w/out set up, Taunt or pivoting moves actually had a hard time against this Stall set. It forced the tempo of the match, allowing me to trap and weaken threats, remove hazards, block other Spinners and place my own hazards. B.ghast did all of that for my Sandstorm team, which honestly, Sandstorm is brutal in this meta, since it's now the only dmg dealing weather. Thanks for covering B.ghast! Like any Pkmn, it has flaws and merits, but I've seen a great potential w it and believe you're right about your prediction.
I normally run tailwind Scarfed Brambleghast with Grassknot ect. To sweep as a last second save from being sweeped normally on showdown in national dex or normal ou sometimes in double battles too you can abuse Klefki’s Prankster to Use switcharoo or even heal block to stop people from using hp draining moves items and canceling any tanks that aren’t poison type
Wolfey I was on a trip today and was playing regular doubles I was having a pretty easy ride using a team that Aron Cybertron featured on his channel, and then came a player who mauled my team in 3 turns, and I had an epiphany, I spent over 4h during the trip mauling over his team, and then I came up with a monster a team that in theory was almost unstoppable, it just comes to you to decide if you want the details of the team, I unfortunately do not have time to ev train the pokemon so I would leave it to the professionals
Wolfey i have a strategy Have a medicham with skill swap and a slaking Have medicham use skill swap on slaking Slaking will get pure power I would like to see a team around that strategy And i would put a item on the medicham to make it outspeed all of the other pokemon on the field

Early prediction- since this mon has win rider, it can absorb heat wave, bleakwind storm and earthquake
oh lol 'win' rider
eq is not a wind move
Nice most of my prediction is correct eq,heat wave and bleakwind storm is just so much in the meta nowadays fr
@@shaykhmhssi3246it can tank it tho since it’s grass type
@@MultiZernez I’m aware, the original comment was about wind rider not brambleghast’s typing
Loving some brambleghast love finally. My favourite design of the region is generally hated by the entire community for some reason so I really do hope it succeeds
Considering what tumbleweeds are like irl, Brambleghast being everywhere is oddly fitting
Bramblin melted my heart after rolling into my left tibia and making that cute lil noise I’ve evolved it and kept it since. Honestly number one fav from gen 9
Wolfe is using a team weak to Brambleghast at worlds and is trying to get everyone to use it so he can see the best counter play options available. I see you Wolfe, you can’t get past me and my negative experience playing competitive pokemon
Thanks for the shoutout! :) I know Brambleghast won't win worlds, but I really hope it at least sneaks into the top 8!
wait until someone pulls up to worlds with a Bramblgast, Gastrodon, and Heatran core
Regulation D is the best so far and is going to make worlds so fun/interesting
Agreed I feel bad that players may struggle but may lead to interesting sets that are unique at the surface as well
Editor, I don't know who you are. but since you put RainCode and ace attorney OST's in the video I love you.
I was also flabbergasted when i heard the Rain Code ost
Thanks! I love AA and I'm planning on picking up Raincode soon but there's so many games to play!
Wolfey confirming that Wo-Chien might have a big breakthrough is all I need to know that the Wo-Chien sweep is coming.
Now I really really want to see someone with bramblegaust on their team come on top. WILL WOLFE TAKE THAT CHALLENGE?
A pokemon I would like to raise spotlight for in similar situation is pincurchin, the ability is good and one of the rarer moves like acupressure is also available to it.making it bulky and trying acupressure is mostly good as far as i have tried.
When Shiftry is brought back, it needs to swap either Early Bird or Pickpocket for Wind Rider.
Ghost Trick music, average Wolfey W
Im really looking forward to a video about this upcoming Championship, having an entirely new meta right before a big event like this sounds like its going to be very fun to watch
There was a short clip of my battle against Aaron using bleakwind on his brambleghast LOL
I was in a ranbats tournament at uni, and Blambleghast helped me come back from behind and sweep. Didn't know it had that dawg in it
I hope they bring certain moves back like they did in the Crown Tundra DLC. Like Poltergeist
Whoever made that Nickleback “look at this brambleghast” meme is a legend
If the home format for worlds ends up making really diverse teams, I guess it will be worth it. Strange choice though.
Given a recent influx of Infinite Fusion stuff hitting the algorithm, I gotta wonder. What are some good Meta teams?
Editing is popping off!
I'm honestly really excited to watch worlds this year
The shot of the Pokemon in the pool at 2:48 is unnecessarily well edited 😂 look at those reflections!
As a child of chaos, I am pleased to see others finally walk this path
It's the same effect gholdengo brought to VGC at the start of gen 9, boosting the popularity of bulky water/fire types to combat its broken spread move, brambleghast is just a much more extreme example of this effect.
ok not the whole picture but a pretty important part of it!
It’s weird they’re nerfing worse moves
*and not touching the better ones
I'd be playing with Brambleghast more, but evolving it is a headache and a half.
Eh, it takes a few minutes of running circles around a town, but I'd rather do this than whatever the hell Runerigus needs
Stand on a roof with it out in the floor. There's a pokestop this works well at.
It'll do its own circles and evolve without you running around.
The big stairs at the academy entrance count more steps than normal, you just need to go up and down about 3 times.
@@ildesu789 Thanks for the replies and help guys!!
It is really hard to position Brambleghast well. And, by what I have seem, Tornadus usage is already low in comparison to when the format started. So...
On the subject of Grass/Ghost-types, I'm hoping Dhelmise will come back someday, simply due to a funny thing with Tera-ing it
As a refresher, Dhelmise obviously gets STAB on Grass and Ghost moves, but also its only Ability, Steelworker, gives pseudo-STAB to Steel moves, as in they have a 50% boost in power
_So,_ if you had Dhelmise Tera into a type that isn't one of those 3, you could basically have a Pokemon with a moveset of 4 different types, with STAB on technically all of them
And also if you Tera-Steel I _think_ Steel moves would have 2.25× power? Because of the true STAB from becoming Steel + the 1.5× from Steelworker, but don't quote me on that, I don't actually know for sure if it'd work out like that
Would it be practical? No
But is it really neat? I think so
Wolfey : Brambleghast counters several popular threats
also wolfey : shows a picture of chien pao
The editor has great music taste, now they is putting in some ghost trick and rain code soundtracks? Based👍
This reminds me of gen 4 Ubers. Kyogre was stopped by Parasect.
This thing is a menace in random battles if you're not positioned correctly when it comes out.
Very much! Provides quite a lot of outs, can sit on the field strength sapping 😅
@trevorjamesnegus it let me stall out an Arboliva of all things since it couldn't hit me and phantom force threatened heavy switch in damage.
This kinda reminds me of Murkrow's sudden rise to top tier, despite Honchkrow existing. Keeping Prankster made Murkrow significantly more desirable, and holding an Eviolite more or less equalized the Def/SpDef difference between the 2.
Brambleghast: ah the winds are slowly blowing in my favor, even if it's brief
Decidueye's typing walked so Brambleghast's typing could ride the wind (that doesn't have quite the ring to it buts its ok because uhh riding the wind is like its middle name)
Meanwhile Trevenant :'(
I've been using Brambleghast since Regulation B and it's always been amazing.
Can't wait for bramble to ghast all over the tournament
If your teamate next to brambleghast faints you could probably switch to galarian zapdos and strength sap to heal and increase attack
Defiant doesn't work on ally stat drops unfortunately
Yooo seems the editor has been playing Master Detective: Rain Code. The soundtrack is real good!
Hey wolfey, whouldn't gastrodon with storm drain and conter a good pokemon against urshifu?
Ghost Trick music jumpscare???
this is a great video, it also makes me think if there are so many wind moves and even a wind-related ability can't we just change flying-type to wind-type at this point
Update 00.1% of vgc players are using this mon and there are much better counters that have other purposes like amoongus with a 15.87% usage rate in vgc. (Percentages via pikalytics)
You should play in a tournament with the oldest best competitive teams
Loved the "Glass Animals Brambleghast" joke
mercrow > thunderus because its dark type blocks prankster, thunderus would need to terra to stop tailwind from mercrow. This + a quick assaulter can out speed and ko thanderus or urshifue (depeanding on pkmn)
I hope the dominance of rapid strikes urshifu incentivises gastrodon usage I love that little slug
I knew this mere tumbleweed had Doubles potential. And now here we are.
Look at the subtitles when he talked about Urshifu, it spells Urshifu like 10 different ways
So did it actually win?
Unfortunately no
Wolfey i have a strategy
Have a medicham with skill swap and a slaking
Have medicham use skill swap on slaking
Slaking will get pure power
I would like to see a team around that strategy
And i would put a item on the medicham to make it outspeed all of the other pokemon on the field
Oh my god, Ghost Trick OST. I love you
I'm happy it's getting love, I've had mild success just doing basic sweeps with a below average team
Brambleghast and Toedscruel are the anti-meta Grass-types.
Imagine sending out your Brambleghast to counter an Urshifu only for it to be the single strike form.
Thats what im saying
I see alot of people saying
Use gastrodon
Use bramble ghast
But what if its single strike its just gonna get merked
But bramble still has its tera available unlike gastrodon. Tera fairy and you should be good. I guess urshifu could run poision jab but that is pretty situational and could go very wrong for it.
I was very excited when I watched the sponsor segment, but then after checking the website, I realised I needed digital money to use it. which I didn't have. so much for getting tips on pokemon gaming.
Not wolfe misspelling resistances...
