As well as quite literally being one of the best dance tunes of all time, it has to be said how great quality this video is. Most stuff from 1979 looks really grainy and lo-res. This looks like a million dollars, almost like a lost episode of Dr Who, Really good production values, and absolutely a prototype for Thriller. Werewolves were massive in the late 70s/early 80s, weren't they? All we need is Jenny Agutter in a nurses' uniform to make this video complete 🙂
Great record! Completely blown away by the chorus and synths in it, They even released it on coloured vinyl formats too! The video I'm not so sure on, I'm guessing it't to do with Halloween or something, Ron looks even scarier as a werewolf! Russell reminds me of a bad impression of MJ on a Thriller night! Bet they had tons of fun making this video!
Sorry, but I must remind you of the simple facts that this album, No. 1 in Heaven, was recorded 1978, but through neglection of record companies not released until March 2 1979. "Thriller" came 1982. So who is most likely mimicking who😉😀? But it is a great album, I received my 40 years anniversary copy a few weeks ago 😍😍😍😍😁 And I also believe they had a crazy great time doing this 😂😂

There are lots of different versions...but I think I prefer the original No1 in Heaven version. This video version is very different, which leads me to believe it might be a later remix??
I don't know, but it's definitely a different mix than on the album. However I think this was mixed simultaneously for a potential video. As turned out to be.
@@annabackman3028 There's all sorts of different mixes, but they all came out around the same time. The single version in the video seems to be an edit of a massive eight-minute long extended version which features the normal three verses plus amazing middle section, then the breakdown you hear on this followed by a repeat of the first verse, with that "helicopter" synth noise. This version misses out the whole middle section of the above, jumping straight from verse 1, followed by the chorus, into that mini breakdown and repeated first verse. This is definitely an ahead-of-its-time way of making songs IMO, starting with a really long, complicated dance tune then editing it down to make a radio-friendly three minute pop tune, as opposed to starting with a normal song and extending it with funny noises for another five minutes!
svehn, exactly my thoughts when I saw this video!! I have no doubts The King of Pop listened to Sparks. And watched their videos. Sparks have obviously been in the lead of musical development the last 44 years (now 2018), so why wouldn't Michael Jackson been inspired? So many else have been.
😂 Stooooppp....😂 American Werewolf in London 1981, John Landis directed it & Thriller. Its on the documentary that came along with the music video.
But it is a great album, I received my 40 years anniversary copy a few weeks ago 😍😍😍😍😁
And I also believe they had a crazy great time doing this 😂😂
By the way, if you think Ron looks scary here, have you seen the 'I Predict' video?? 😵
That could freak out anybody... 🤣🤣🤣
@@annabackman3028 Ahh.... Gypsy Ron Lee! lol
@@rhiannondoole3991, I didn't get a notice on your comment!
Yeah, that video is in it's own league 🤣🤩!
Yeah and MJ's 'singing' is a bad impression of Russell's! As usual. His songs generally on the same line.
I bought the record for this song and it was not the same version. I guess it was the single version or 12 inches. Result I listen this music for the first time in 40 years!
Trisco - Muzak (Steve Lawler Remix) brought me here
this is perfect
Write a song about sperm, but don't mention the word sperm. Sparks: Got this.
it feels like a Stanley Kubrick ,movie that should have been made, cant wait to see them in mexico city

Is he actually miming playing the bass synth part, or just some other random melody
Nice thanks for share.... that video
2019 🤞
Future synthpop created in 1979
Really disliked the electro direction because I was a late flowering punk at the time, but now I recognise how great it was all along.
I felt the same. Was into glam and then punk and hated disco, but I liked the dance music that Sparks made. I saw them during both phases during the Kimono My House tour and the Balls tour which had the excellent Aeroflot and Bullet Train songs.
So, Sparks had transformed into werewolves in a video several years before Michael Jackson's Thriller?
Solo hay un nombre para todo esto... Giorgio⚡Moroder
My name is Giovanni Giorgio, but everybody calls me...Sparks
I wonder where this location was filmed.brilliant video.
Shepperton Studios apparently!
This album was apparently what Joy Division qas listening too when inspired to write Love Will Tear Us Apart. Also, listening to this song you get where LCD Soundsystem's sound came from.
álbum N°1 In Heaven producido por Giorgio⚡Moroder...solo diré eso.
My name is Giovanni Giorgio, but everybody calls me...the father, founder and pioneer of EDM and the Modern Electrónic / The Sound Of The Future.
Do you think this video was filmed in a stately home?
HEAR YEE HEAR YEE
@@RebirthRadio2023 Thanks! 💖🥰
I agree, it's an amazing song and mix 🤩😍
It's too bad the Sparks " Tryouts For The Human Race " are never thought of during Halloween.
A song about SPERMS?
I'd love to see that, imagen kids in sperm suits asking for treat or tricks🤣🤣🤣🤣!
If you want a good Sparks Halloween track, go for Armies Of The Night (from the soundtrack of Fright Night)!
Looking for this track's name from a Twelves mix brought me here.
I wonder where Michael Jackson got the idea...
svehn, exactly my thoughts when I saw this video!! I have no doubts The King of Pop listened to Sparks. And watched their videos. Sparks have obviously been in the lead of musical development the last 44 years (now 2018), so why wouldn't Michael Jackson been inspired? So many else have been.
😂 Stooooppp....😂
American Werewolf in London 1981, John Landis directed it & Thriller. Its on the documentary that came along with the music video. And its not the only 80s music video with a Jekyll & Hyde/Nutty Professor/Werewolf theme. U guys need to quit with the silliness....really. U have to wait until all of the Gen Xers & the OG millenials are gone to try & rewrite history lol. Only Gen Z & ambivalent millennials will go along with that bc it doesnt matter to them either way. Yall are a mess. 🤣🤣🤣

I hope that u have enough to eat & a nice place to sleep wherever u live bc its clearly not here. 🧐🤣🤣🤣
@@DBMe33 I was only SPECULATING, as you should understand if you reread my comment.
You seem to be right, though, about the theory about the video.
Perhaps you should learn how to express yourself without being rude and patronizing? You have no reason to be that.
@@DBMe33, Just come to think of it. You meant the movie 'American werewolf'? 1981?
THIS video is from 1979...
From the album "No. 1 In Heaven", produced by Giorgio Moroder. The album was recorded 1978, but not released until 1979.
i wonder where they shot this
Giorgio Moroder estuvo detrás de este proyecto.
The skeleton tapping his foot 😂
The lyrics of this song make me remember something related to Cannibal Corpse and i don't know why.
Sperms. It is about sperms perspective on life. Really profound.
😂😂😂
The Mael Brothers try Chewbacca cosplay...
With mixed results
Jackson's three years later had a larger impact.
