The Wolf Brand taste is way better, and if you get the Homestyle Wolf Brand, it's the best. The reason I'm here is because I just tried the Homestyle Hormel, and it's nasty. Hormel was my go to for years, until I found Wolf Brand. The Homestyle Hormel is sweet, with kidney beans, too sweet, and the flavor is just off. I like kidney beans in my chili, and add a can along with chili beans, and pinto beans, when I make chili, so that's not the issue. I had to add crackers and cheese just to get it down. It would be nice to see a video comparing the two Homestyle versions.
just a little funny story i have to share. i live in texas and as a texan, wolf is the only brand of chili i buy and eat. i was hungry for some chili and crackers. so i asked my mom "do we have anymore chili?" she said yes, to which you showed me a can of hormel. then i told her "so we don't have any chili?"
Born and lived in Texas. Wolf Brand Chilli is the official Chilli of Texas, called Texas Red. In my humble opinion, Hormel Chilli tastes like dog food. I ONLY eat Wolf Brand.
I've always bought hormel no bean chili for my great aunt's secret chili spaghetti recipe but I switched it up with wolf this time and am sold. It looked like ass when I opened the can but the flavor is way better. It reminds me of the awesome slop they put on tommy burgers. I'll give you a hint on the top-secret recipe...it's spaghetti, chili, and whatever else ya put on a hotdog or burger.
You nailed it, Wolf flavor is superior to any other canned chili. That being said, taking Hormel and adding some cayenne gets pretty close. Mixing the two would be beastly.
These are my two favorite canned chilis. Wolf Brand Chili is my all time favorite. I Love their spicy variety with beans or the regular with beans. The Wolf Angus Beef chili with beans is probably the best canned chili I've ever had. I love the flavor of Wolf. The thing I've found with Wolf Brand chili is that it's not always consistent from batch to batch. The flavor doesn't change but the amount of meat and beans in the can does. I've found that about 25% of the time you will get a can that has mostly sauce and skimps on the meat and beans. I think you had a bad can that you used for this comparison. At least half the time I get big chunks of beef in my Wolf chili. 25% of the time it will have lots of beans with small chunks of meat and then 25% of the time mostly sauce. I still buy it because it always tastes good and I'll just use more crackers or crumpled tortilla or corn chips in my bowl when I get a saucy can. I wish it was more consistent. The Hormel is my "go to" because it's available everywhere and it's consistently good. They don't skimp on the meat or the beans. I prefer their Hot and Spicy variety with beans but the regular with beans is good too. I just add some chili powder and a dash of hot sauce to taste. It doesn't take much effort to make a great bowl of chili from it.
I love Wolf’s chili. It’s changed my life!!! I used to be vegetarian due to my family, but I decided to become an explorer and have come to love meat. I never though canned chili could give me a new perspective on life. Luckily my husband is very supportive of my love for Wolfs chili. We love making chili cheese tots and nachos with it.
The only problem I have with wolf brand is they, Conagra, changed the recipe and now uses pork. Wolf Brand had always boasted before of being ALL BEEF....you still can buy lean beef or Angus beef for a higher price.
I was always a Wolf guy until I bought a can of Hormel. Wolf is like chili as a condiment. Hormel is better at playing the part of actual chili. Both have their place. Can’t knock Wolf for keeping it real. It comes out looking exactly the same way as when it went in.
I just ate Wolf brand chili literally 10 minutes before watching this video. Wolf brand is all I’ve ever had. I’m honestly surprised by how starkly different these two products are. I thought all chili looked like puréed gloop.
Wolf brand is literally a bean paste/stuffing how could you guys possibly go with wolf over hormel I mean literally just look at the two chilis and tell me the difference I mean if you were starving in the wilderness and had nothing else to eat you mean to tell me ALL OF YOU GUYS WOULD CHOOSE WOLF BRAND OVER HORMEL??? WTFFF
Try wolfs homestyle me and my honey are addicted to it. In fact. I'm on here looking to see if they have crack in it seriously. I add cheese and hot sauce and that's it. With cracker. I've been eating it too much though. It has 500 calories per can then add the cheese and a soda and that's too many calories for me. I've gained a few pounds. I'm trying to stop eating it but it's so good. So I'm trying to find a substitution recipe with less calories homemade probably. Damn. Or maybe I can eat it and then do a hour or longer work out.
I just had some Hormel Chili. I have seen Wolf chili but I stick with what I like. I also like the fact that Hormel has lots of meat in it. I eat it plain or on a hot dog. It really is delicious. However that's just me personally.
Wolf Chili to me, personally always has a little better flavor & heat to it. Plus, I've noticed that Wolf isn't as soupy. Both however are 10X better than Skyline Chili in every way!
Spike No-Bean Wolf.. Add diced green pepper and diced onion (lots of both, but a scosche more green pepper and cook WELL)... It then becomes a divine hot dog chili. Just give it a shot.
Hormel has no artificial ingredients. It tastes good, and you can feel good giving to your kids. Things that look mysterious usually have questionable ingredients most of which that No one can pronounce.. anyone can add spice or hot sauce. Wolf looks like paste. Hormel it is for us! Nice review !
Wolf at one time had an Angus chili that was amazing. I'm a chef, and all I can say, please let me prepare, vacuum seal, and ship you a batch of my homemade chili. Pick your own protein from beef, turkey, deer, etc...and help me get my brand started! I want to provide 'frozen fresh paks' of my chili and homemade soups, where all you do is place the pouch in boiling water to heat a hearty meal for the whole family! I want to start a business but need people like you to try and approve of it so I can attempt to market my foods. I'm a chef at heart, but just a lowly airport employee for now.
So true. But other people can't understand that or don't read. Authentic Texas chili. Would chose it first every time and no I'm not a Texan just love it. Just a so much better taste
Wolf is my fav. When i eat hormel i add some wolf to change the flavor. I saute onions for my can chili and add a some jalapeno pieces. By you eat what you want.
Wolf's chili does have a very nice flavor. But, the quality control needs to improve. I've had cans that were mostly sauce and few beans. Bush had very good chili but they discontinued it and sell chili starter in a can.
I have to admit...there are better brands (In MHO) than both of these. Obviously, the best brand is the one YOU make and perfect. However...having said that...I'll never buy Wolf brand chili again. I cooked it a little too long (my bad) and it turned into a nasty, gooey mess that resembled diarrhea. It was just that bad. Bad enough to where I didnt even have to use a fork or spoon to scrape out the pan. Somethin' just not right with that picture! Just MHO of course
I eat both. Wolf's is better mixed with crackers, Hormel is better on cheddar cheese toast. The best chili of all is the Pioneer Woman's Bloody Mary chili tho
I tried Wolf's, Hormel, and Great Value from Walmart. Hormel and Great Value were both better than Wolf's. I just don't understand why people rave about Wolf's.
How dare you compare Wolf Brand to any other chili. Ya'll DON'T MOVE TO TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S HOT!!!!!! YOU WON'T LIKE IT HERE!!!!!!!!! IT'S FULL OF GOD FEARING CONSERVATIVES!!!!!!!!!

I think them mixed would be great
Perish the thought!
This is like Tyson vs Michael Spinks. Wolf brand scores an easy first rd knockout.
Great comment. Thanks
How much are you paid to say these things? Wolf Brand Chili is the best. Hornel is the knock-off.
I bought a can of Hormel once, and it had a small rock in it. I have never bought it since. Wolf is ALWAYS good to me💓
Wolf brand is better
Hands down! Wolf brand. just bought a few cans at Dollar General. Pour it over cooked spaghetti or your fav pasta with grated cheese on top! ❤
