He’s not wrong tho. Defense doesn’t matter if you’re good at dodging then realistically you don’t need to worry which armor has more defense and just worry about the special abilities that come with gear cause that’s more important. And same thing to in dark souls/elden ring
@@yer6105 everything you just said was wrong in Nioh, armor in nioh can even negate 60% of damage and literally not let you die to 1 to 3 shots, just because its a soulslike, its not 100% the same, blocking also works, and dodging on nioh while on high stance is a dumbass move

@@dokutah7374 look at the graves around them. It'll say "killed by nurikabe for hostile(red), neutral(yellow), or friendly(blue) behavior. Use one of the emotes that isn't the color listed on the grave so if it's a death by friendly behavior then use a neutral or hostile emote.

For anyone that wants to play this game now: Charlie couldn't counter the forge boss' grapple attack because of his choice of spirit. I use the Brute spirit and I was able to counter it every time. You just have to pick the right tools.
nah I had the dark phantasm too and burst countering enenra’s tornado was easy, charlie just got himself into the mindset that it was a visual bug and not actually a burst attack. The “nioh vet” just never got the timing down😂

I just wish it had more added content to justify playing it endlessly. I love it, but even I got bored halfway through NG++. Doing the same missions on repeat just gets too tedious after a while.

I unironically struggle so hard to sit through Charlie's streams or vods of him playing games. If it's a story based game he rushes through and ignores so much stuff then says it's really boring and has nothing going on. And if it's a game like nioh, he does all the kind of stuff you named and more depending on the game. I also really love Charlie but watching him stream games makes me question whether he's actually smart at all. Also when he insulted that dude that suggested blocking because he thought it was "the last thing you should do" was so painful to watch.

Rewatching this, no doubt he didn't dislike Dark Souls 2. He is so bad at these games that the issues that plague DS2 make no difference to him seeing how accustomed he is to playing like that. I like his videos but his souls-like gameplays are just a pain to watch for anyone who puts basic effort into these games. Claims to like Nioh particularly cause of the combat depth despite eventually resorting to spamming a single attack from a single stance. It's just disheartening.
@@jozu315 don’t worry about the armor obi go for the fashion. Second armor goes depending what class and levels you go for and. The armor bonus will depend on how many armor pieces you got when you see a green text on the armor with the levels you can see how many points you need to use depending they rarity.
@@jozu315 if you're better at dodging go for light armor, light weight has faster ki regen and better dodging, if you prefer blocking attacks more then go with heavy armor, heavy weight slows ki regen but you can block more, or go with median weight armor if you want to have have better dodge than heavy weight but better armor than light weight armor.

As someone who plays nioh 2 alot, i can pretty much do the bosses in one try. But thats only after years of playing and learning. Watching charlie die so much on yatsu no kami had me laughing out loud.
I just recently got this game and I really don't understand the hype around its combat. The lack of control I feel over my character is seriously frustrating; everything that happens causes my character to freeze up and have a 5 second panic attack. Any time an enemy farts within 10 feet of me, I basically get stunlocked long enough for them to charge up and land a killing blow and it also seems like the action commands are seriously unresponsive, any time I press the dodge button on a moments notice, it feels like I am rolling the dice in hopes that it will actually register.
Sounds like you're spamming and getting locked in animations, if you've ever played monster hunter it happens there when dark souls players try to play monster hunter for the first time. Hope you figured out the combat though, it's a fun game.
For everyone upset at how he's playing (even though this was months ago and he's beat the game), he Has to figure that stuff out later. He cant do that late game
not really like sekiro, just in the style since parrying isnt the priority during combat, more-so stance switching and managing ki so you can keep a combo of attacks and dodges going at all times. Charlie just plays the game mechanically wrong while still having fun.

I'm not one to usually complain but hearing him get mad about his stance switching every 5 mins because he didn't figure out some combos change stance gets annoying if you're watching for awhile
there are always trade offs. use heavy armor and you can take more hits/block better. use light armor and you have to rely on dashing and dodging- getting 1 or 2 shot with light armor (or no armor, which for some reason he did while fighting Yatsu) is understandable. the game is mechanically complex but by no means is it imbalanced. understanding the systems and mechanics at play is key.
There's very few attacks that should kill you in one or two hits unless your running naked. There's defence and health in the game for a reason. They actually make a difference.. Having appropriate level armour takes priority over skills for me until late game.
You get used to it, besides you don't ever really wanna get hit in these games, and unlike darksouls you take no damage from blocking shit unless it's a ball of water that shit goes through
i find nioh and nioh 2 much easier than dark souls tbh. i never finished any dark souls games but with nioh 2 i made it halfway through dream of the wise (new game+++) and i'm not even that good at the game. just because charlie isn't playing very well doesn't mean the game is bad or imbalanced.
Lol the 3rd boss is literally defining how bad this game is with it's INSTANT-ONE-SHOT mechanic. Every other souls-like game gives you time to react to those, this garbage fucking company was like "WHAT IF WE JUST RANDOMLY KILL THEM WHILE AT FULL HP? THAT WOULD BE COOL AND IMMERSIVE, RIGHT?????????"
Have you played nioh 1, 2, or both? In nioh 2 i never remember being one shotted. Nioh 1 was the one with that issue for me. Once you get to the 2v1 boss fights though that’s when the game gets frustrating. Nioh 2 does less damage and removed the one shots in 90% of the cases.
Because I can tell you haven't played the game like the other guy said I'll explain how Yatsu can be early game. If you're running light armor then yeah the grab might one shot you, but its a heavily telegraphed attack and if you're running light armor you're intentionally buffing your dodges and your ki recovery so you don't get hit by things (ideally, if you learn the attacks and aren't bad). With medium and heavy armor you trade some of your dodging prowess and lightning quick ki recovery for better blocking, poise and what not. Pretty standard trade off stuff. Now in my first play through I fought Yatsu wearing a mix of medium and heavy armors, and his grab did not one shot me from full health. I was not overleveled or overgeared. The reason Charlie's getting oneshotted by the grab and his ki regen is so God awful is for a couple reasons. For the first couple fights he wasnt using light, medium, OR heavy armor. Yes, he had armor equipped, but he wasn't under the 30% threshold to get A agility bonus, and he also wasn't trying to maximize his B agility setup either, rather opting to stay in some nebulous 50 percent range until 30 minutes later when he decided he needed to lose some weight (by taking off his pants??? really stupid :\). None of this is even mentioning the fact that some of his armor is MASSIVELY underleveled, as in throughout the whole Yatsu fight he was wearing Level 1 gear in a mission where the recommended level was in the double digits. Tl;Dr the third boss does NOT have a one shot mechanic, Charlie was making tons of amateur mistakes that made things a million times harder for him.
And yet the number of people who beat him is quite impressive. Hell on ps4 there are like 40% who have the trophy for him. Guess the rest couldn't manage more than three defeats.
He's literally going high stance pressing square+square 95% of the time and saying "I love this game it's exactly what I wanted." Nioh 2 is fucking AWFUL. Don't kidd yourself.

Dawg, i love Charlie and watch him every upload, but this is some mid level LTG behavior, as someone who finished the game, its not even funny anymore, downright annoying.
I unironically struggle so hard to sit through Charlie's streams or vods of him playing games. If it's a story based game he rushes through and ignores so much stuff then says it's really boring and has nothing going on. And if it's a game like nioh, he does all the kind of stuff you named and more depending on the game.
I also really love Charlie but watching him stream games makes me question whether he's actually smart at all.
Also when he insulted that dude that suggested blocking because he thought it was "the last thing you should do" was so painful to watch.

Rewatching this, no doubt he didn't dislike Dark Souls 2. He is so bad at these games that the issues that plague DS2 make no difference to him seeing how accustomed he is to playing like that. I like his videos but his souls-like gameplays are just a pain to watch for anyone who puts basic effort into these games. Claims to like Nioh particularly cause of the combat depth despite eventually resorting to spamming a single attack from a single stance. It's just disheartening.

@@jozu315 don’t worry about the armor obi go for the fashion. Second armor goes depending what class and levels you go for and. The armor bonus will depend on how many armor pieces you got when you see a green text on the armor with the levels you can see how many points you need to use depending they rarity.
@@jozu315 if you're better at dodging go for light armor, light weight has faster ki regen and better dodging, if you prefer blocking attacks more then go with heavy armor, heavy weight slows ki regen but you can block more, or go with median weight armor if you want to have have better dodge than heavy weight but better armor than light weight armor.

Fact is, he acts like he's super knowledgeable about the game despite constantly neglecting even the most basic of mechanics and saying that defense doesn't matter? and not changing his armor, giving skills a cursory glance and immediately deeming them bad. Someone gives him solid advice during Yatsu to switch his glaive out to a waaay better sword he got and in response, he gets pissed at them, puts it on, runs into the boss arena and tries to use the sword in high stance with light armor on against a quick enemy, then blames the sword for being bad, not himself for being ignorant.
Another tidbit, if he didn't bring up loving Nioh 1 so much you wouldn't be able to tell he had ever touched Nioh or even a Dark Souls game from the gameplay alone, it really is that bad. And then beta stans like yourselves for some reason cannot in any conceivable way handle any critique towards a guy who means nothing to you. Gotta grow up a bit I reckon.

I just recently got this game and I really don't understand the hype around its combat. The lack of control I feel over my character is seriously frustrating; everything that happens causes my character to freeze up and have a 5 second panic attack. Any time an enemy farts within 10 feet of me, I basically get stunlocked long enough for them to charge up and land a killing blow and it also seems like the action commands are seriously unresponsive, any time I press the dodge button on a moments notice, it feels like I am rolling the dice in hopes that it will actually register.
Sounds like you're spamming and getting locked in animations, if you've ever played monster hunter it happens there when dark souls players try to play monster hunter for the first time.
Hope you figured out the combat though, it's a fun game.

not really like sekiro, just in the style since parrying isnt the priority during combat, more-so stance switching and managing ki so you can keep a combo of attacks and dodges going at all times. Charlie just plays the game mechanically wrong while still having fun.

Not even dark souls is this stupidly "difficult". dying in 1-2 hits isn't what difficulty should be. Just imbalanced dogshit tbh.
there are always trade offs. use heavy armor and you can take more hits/block better. use light armor and you have to rely on dashing and dodging- getting 1 or 2 shot with light armor (or no armor, which for some reason he did while fighting Yatsu) is understandable.
the game is mechanically complex but by no means is it imbalanced. understanding the systems and mechanics at play is key.

There's very few attacks that should kill you in one or two hits unless your running naked. There's defence and health in the game for a reason. They actually make a difference.. Having appropriate level armour takes priority over skills for me until late game.
You get used to it, besides you don't ever really wanna get hit in these games, and unlike darksouls you take no damage from blocking shit unless it's a ball of water that shit goes through
i find nioh and nioh 2 much easier than dark souls tbh. i never finished any dark souls games but with nioh 2 i made it halfway through dream of the wise (new game+++) and i'm not even that good at the game. just because charlie isn't playing very well doesn't mean the game is bad or imbalanced.
Lol the 3rd boss is literally defining how bad this game is with it's INSTANT-ONE-SHOT mechanic. Every other souls-like game gives you time to react to those, this garbage fucking company was like "WHAT IF WE JUST RANDOMLY KILL THEM WHILE AT FULL HP? THAT WOULD BE COOL AND IMMERSIVE, RIGHT?????????"
Have you played nioh 1, 2, or both? In nioh 2 i never remember being one shotted. Nioh 1 was the one with that issue for me. Once you get to the 2v1 boss fights though that’s when the game gets frustrating. Nioh 2 does less damage and removed the one shots in 90% of the cases.
Because I can tell you haven't played the game like the other guy said I'll explain how Yatsu can be early game. If you're running light armor then yeah the grab might one shot you, but its a heavily telegraphed attack and if you're running light armor you're intentionally buffing your dodges and your ki recovery so you don't get hit by things (ideally, if you learn the attacks and aren't bad). With medium and heavy armor you trade some of your dodging prowess and lightning quick ki recovery for better blocking, poise and what not. Pretty standard trade off stuff. Now in my first play through I fought Yatsu wearing a mix of medium and heavy armors, and his grab did not one shot me from full health. I was not overleveled or overgeared. The reason Charlie's getting oneshotted by the grab and his ki regen is so God awful is for a couple reasons. For the first couple fights he wasnt using light, medium, OR heavy armor. Yes, he had armor equipped, but he wasn't under the 30% threshold to get A agility bonus, and he also wasn't trying to maximize his B agility setup either, rather opting to stay in some nebulous 50 percent range until 30 minutes later when he decided he needed to lose some weight (by taking off his pants??? really stupid :\). None of this is even mentioning the fact that some of his armor is MASSIVELY underleveled, as in throughout the whole Yatsu fight he was wearing Level 1 gear in a mission where the recommended level was in the double digits.
Tl;Dr the third boss does NOT have a one shot mechanic, Charlie was making tons of amateur mistakes that made things a million times harder for him.
And yet the number of people who beat him is quite impressive. Hell on ps4 there are like 40% who have the trophy for him. Guess the rest couldn't manage more than three defeats.
