Nice video, I'm really thinking of swapping MMO's to start at WoW... The only missing part for me in the starter edition is the lack of community interaction.. I felt that leveling up from 1-20 was very boring as I never met other players or the fact I wasn't able to talk to anyone.. Next to that I should perhaps have checked for a higher than medium populated server..
My tips for new players are 1) Get a friend to join and level with you, whether they're new or experienced. If they're new you can work together to learn stuff, if they're experienced they can teach you some stuff. 2) Don't be afraid to ask trade chat. A surprising number of players are helpful and willing to answer any questions you have (type /2 in chat window to switch to trade chat, its where the most people are). Even people who hate noobs may end up being helpful. 3) Don't level boost a character unless you're confident in your class, nothing worse than regretting that decision. 4) As of right now, I do not recommend buying legion. The next expansion is coming out this year and legion may become part of the base game on it's release. I'd wait till Battle for Azeroth releases and buy it. (You still get the level boost) 5) Before committing a lot of money to the monthly fees, I'd suggest going for just one month to see if you really want to play. 6) Don't be afraid to take a break. Everyone gets burned out from the game eventually. 7) As for roles (tank, healer, range dps, melee dps) do not level boost a role you aren't used to. Play through to at least level 30 or 40 with a new role at with a lot of dungeons in there so you can learn it. Tanking isn't as hard as it looks, don't be afraid. 8) If you're in a party with randoms and you fail at something, explain that you're new. They're more likely to help and less likely to be angry. 9) If you can't decide on a class or role, I suggest you go druid because they have a spec for every role. Restoration/Healer Guardian/Tank Balance/RangeDPS Feral/MeleeDPS Sorry if anything here is a repeat in the video, I typed it up while I was listening and I tried to remove any duplicate points and to expand on anything I felt needed to be said, but it's hard to listen to one thing and type another.
Also, I would highly recommend that you make one server your "Alliance server" and another one your "Horde server" since you can only have so many characters per realm, and it would suck to want to make a Tauren Druid only to realize you're out of character slots because your horde and alliance are all together. They can't do anything with each other anyways so it doesn't hurt to split them up.
As a newcomer who did the boost, I had no idea what to do when I was thrown in. I recommend ranking up your character as usual to get used to the game and then boost when you feel you are ready!
Ahh, man, I miss this game so much. I used to play vanila as a 10 year old on a private wow server (free one), but I moved to us 13 years ago to US. I was a small (and stupid) kid, and I remembered only goldshire, but I do remember that I had a whole lot of fun playing. The game is expensive, and I was really scared that i would play poorly and do stupid stuff, but thanks to this guide, I might finally come back to the game. Thank you so much!

Played Wow for the first 5 years it was out, stopped playing but since I have started traveling for work I am getting back into it. I am starting from level 1 starting all over again. The new subscription style they have done is a good idea, just sub and get the content of the first 6 expansions with out purchasing a base game. For new players reading this: Leveling 1-90 has been reworked, it is now faster, harder (it was too easy) and is scaled to your level. also, the boost he talked about is now for level 110 with the new BFA expantion.
@@jpalma200 harder as the mobs level with you(like Skyrim) but faster as all quests give xp sufficient for your level. Eg: lvl 5 gets 500, lvl 50 gets 50k for the same quest.
I think what really keeps People playing WOW is the Lore. Like, a good Book. Im not playing WOW myself but i watch alot on Twitch after Work, and im amazed how good the Worldbuilding is. I mean, its huge.

I've been a big Warcraft fan since the very early days of Warcraft 2 and played every other Blizzard game that came out after it. Storytelling, world-building, atmosphere and immersion have always been (though not exclusively) at the top of the reasons why they are my favorite developer. I stopped playing around Lich because the focus shifted away from the things that interested me but much like you, I kept reading about the story through the wiki and hearing about it from friends. If they made questing compelling again, I would jump straight back into the game but I doubt that's going to happen.
Gosh that is soooooo mind bending to me, how you could find enjoyment from watching someone play wow on twitch when you're not even playing it. I find videos of people playing wow like watching paint dry and I am an active player myself. Can't imagine what the appeal is in watching others play. It's not like any of the lore is brought out in battlegrounds or raids .
The worst thing you can do is auto-level to 100. The funnest stuff for me and most of my friend is the content from levels 1 - 80. It can be a grind but that's part of the fun ans gives you appreciation as well as valuable empirical experience.

I remember in 2010 I created my first character in WoW, it was male Night Elf Mage, I was so hyped about it I told my friends about the game and I was level 24 haha, every time I listen to Night elf zone soundtrack, I remember these beautiful memories
honestly I think Boost is the worst idea for a completely new player to WoW. They don't understand how to play the character. They miss out on all the content that you experience from 1 to 100. Gear is shit. Profession skills are garbage etc etc
Same thing for me goes for the death night i played for an hour. The gear was absolute trash so i deleted the character. Thinking of making a demon hunter and i wonder if it will be worse.

Godonstilts idk why this made me laugh so hard 😂. I guess how you can look at it, “war” tanks are usually the main threat and enemies would want to take that down first. Same with WoW tanks. You want to stay at the highest threat level so the enemies are always attacking you... at least that’s my analogy lol
tanks hold the front lines and take out artillery for infantry to go out and attack, otherwise soldiers would all just run out to die, the name is fitting.
This video is great, I've been looking for a video to show a friend what WoW is like and how it will be for a long time. Most other videos don't do it with the NEW player aspect in mind as in, they don't know what they're getting into. They make it like most ppl are veteran MMO players

one of the biggest reasons why i love wow is that its pretty much great on any system. i had a potato dell 2009 with 2G ram and like an i3 or i5? and it still ran wow smoothly. now i have a much better laptop but still not meant for gaming and it runs very smoothly. compared to most other pc games, this is one of the best in terms of running capabilities
I would as well, sadly they'll never do that. When players mass unsub it shows the dev clearly the playerbase isn't happy with the state of the game and applies pressure for fast changes, I don't think Bungie could ever handle that kind of direct financial feedback

This is an excellent guide. I've been playing since launch, but have not played since 2013. My son is 10 and is curious and I started him out on my old account and he started playing the FTP and we just resubscribed. We'll see if he likes it and I may get him his own account later. I think leveling from 1-cap is the only way to go to really experience all that WoW has to offer, but I understand the desire to cap early. Blizzard has done a remarkable job with this leading and responding to the community.
Huge Warcraft 3 fan and I'm coming over from Destiny 1/2 which I played until I had everything. WoW seems to complex to me and my time constrictions now but it is interesting none the less.

Thats awesome man, i've wanted to try monk for a long time now but just haven't rolled one yet. I currently am maining a fury warrior, I played a ton of arms warrior in WoD because of PvP. Before that Frost Mage was my main during Vanilla through Mists. I'm levlling a hunter currently who is about 90, and playing a little demon hunter. Still trying to find who I want to main in 7.3.5
That's awesome dude! To be honest you seem like a warrior, I'm also leveling a hunter at the moment, but find the beast master spec a little bland. Thoughts on the Demon hunter? I see them around a lot, which is kinda a put off to play one, but they seem like a tonne of fun
Thanks, check out marksman hunter spec, right now I think its really really high up on the dps charts. Demon Hunters are fun from a movement perspective, I like their kit a lot, I have never gotten to try one though at 110, mine is just 102, but from a movement perspective they are exceptionally fun

Heya! New to your content but this showed up in my recommended feed. I'm a veteran WoW player and thought you did a pretty fair job in this vid. I think it would be AWESOME if you could do a quick update to this video, explaining the leveling revamp and world scaling, explain that you can pay monthly sub with in-game gold, and maybe throw in some clips from major esports events in WoW (like the MDI or Arena World Tourney) just to give an idea of how massively supported this game is and how far you can go at end game if you wish. Hey there, i'm from philippines and planning to buy a subscription for this game in the next coming weeks. So I was wondering if I can just buy legion and not do the level boost and just level normally from 1 to whatever the level cap is for legion? Also will this give me all the contents of all the previous expansion automatically?

Tip for anyone starting out, warrior is really good dmg at end game but if you're new it's rly hard to keep high dmg as warrior because they rely on holding a buff called enrage and if you don't know how to keep it up 90% of the fight, you will do really shit damage compared to say an easy class like hunter, palidan or mage.
Hi all i have one question...i want to start wow in this summer (played gw2 for 2 years now and recently i played on a private server wotlk with some friends and i started to feel like wow is more suited for me as an mmorpg) but i will get a job and in autumn i will start university, i will go to gym too (need to keep fit XD) and maybe i will have a gf too :)) so my question is if i play like 2-3 hours in weekdays and more in weekend will worth paying the fee? or are just wasted money? thank you

It might just be me but at the end of the first dungeon i tanked i was shaking and wondering if i did good enough. I also have a healer but she wasn't as bad because i didn't have to lead everyone everywhere and hold aggro.
I dont know if im just being nostalgic or somenthing but as someone that have been playing wow for 10+ years i really think you should experience leveling your first character :)

I haven't played since the end of Burning Crusade. I want to play the instances and raids I missed. Is there an easy way to find parties to play those dungeons with or do players skip dungeons until the end game?

Can I ask you something? You say that in the class trial they let you to play a little bit woth the character. When the time run up and you end the story you keep the lvl 100 at the character right? I have only played WOTLK on private servers only maxed out my destruction warlock and frost mage, I am not sure If I am ready for the newer expansions yet..
So i'm considering returning to wow, i played up to the expansion of mists of pandaria. I remember having some characters at max lvl, which at the time i believe was 90. Were I to just purchase the subscription using that same account, would i have the ability to reach the max lvl cap and accses all end game content, or, would i have to purchase legion on top of the subscription to reach lvl cap etc?
So, just a few questions I have after this excellent video; can you have multiple characters on one account, if so, can you have characters on different servers, and, if you can only have one character per account, can you change servers, and can you delete your character and restart if you can only have one? I’m mostly curious to know if I can go back and change anything I might do that I end up disliking if I start playing.
You can have 12 characters per realm, 50 characters total across all realms, you can change servers but it costs money (used to be $25) do note however quite a few activities work cross realm, you can delete your characters. If you have any other questions I missed let me know, cheers!

The starter edition is definitely not a great indicator of the overall experience, especially in regards to the social side

I would pay a subscription to Destiny if it guaranteed steady updates and building on the established world instead of sequels.
I would as well, sadly they'll never do that. When players mass unsub it shows the dev clearly the playerbase isn't happy with the state of the game and applies pressure for fast changes, I don't think Bungie could ever handle that kind of direct financial feedback

I was 10 years old when I first playd World of Warcraft (The vanilla). When WoW came out for the first time, People who playd it back then did really have a great time.
Every gamer should experience Azeroth atleast once in their lifetime. If you haven't played World of Warcraft yet, give it a go.

This is an excellent guide. I've been playing since launch, but have not played since 2013. My son is 10 and is curious and I started him out on my old account and he started playing the FTP and we just resubscribed. We'll see if he likes it and I may get him his own account later.
I think leveling from 1-cap is the only way to go to really experience all that WoW has to offer, but I understand the desire to cap early. Blizzard has done a remarkable job with this leading and responding to the community.

Huge Warcraft 3 fan and I'm coming over from Destiny 1/2 which I played until I had everything. WoW seems to complex to me and my time constrictions now but it is interesting none the less.

Thats awesome man, i've wanted to try monk for a long time now but just haven't rolled one yet. I currently am maining a fury warrior, I played a ton of arms warrior in WoD because of PvP. Before that Frost Mage was my main during Vanilla through Mists. I'm levlling a hunter currently who is about 90, and playing a little demon hunter. Still trying to find who I want to main in 7.3.5
That's awesome dude! To be honest you seem like a warrior, I'm also leveling a hunter at the moment, but find the beast master spec a little bland. Thoughts on the Demon hunter? I see them around a lot, which is kinda a put off to play one, but they seem like a tonne of fun
Thanks, check out marksman hunter spec, right now I think its really really high up on the dps charts. Demon Hunters are fun from a movement perspective, I like their kit a lot, I have never gotten to try one though at 110, mine is just 102, but from a movement perspective they are exceptionally fun

Heya! New to your content but this showed up in my recommended feed. I'm a veteran WoW player and thought you did a pretty fair job in this vid. I think it would be AWESOME if you could do a quick update to this video, explaining the leveling revamp and world scaling, explain that you can pay monthly sub with in-game gold, and maybe throw in some clips from major esports events in WoW (like the MDI or Arena World Tourney) just to give an idea of how massively supported this game is and how far you can go at end game if you wish. Overall great job. :)
Hey there, i'm from philippines and planning to buy a subscription for this game in the next coming weeks. So I was wondering if I can just buy legion and not do the level boost and just level normally from 1 to whatever the level cap is for legion? Also will this give me all the contents of all the previous expansion automatically?

Tip for anyone starting out, warrior is really good dmg at end game but if you're new it's rly hard to keep high dmg as warrior because they rely on holding a buff called enrage and if you don't know how to keep it up 90% of the fight, you will do really shit damage compared to say an easy class like hunter, palidan or mage.

Hi all i have one question...i want to start wow in this summer (played gw2 for 2 years now and recently i played on a private server wotlk with some friends and i started to feel like wow is more suited for me as an mmorpg) but i will get a job and in autumn i will start university, i will go to gym too (need to keep fit XD) and maybe i will have a gf too :)) so my question is if i play like 2-3 hours in weekdays and more in weekend will worth paying the fee? or are just wasted money? thank you

I can tell you that is true. It might just be me but at the end of the first dungeon i tanked i was shaking and wondering if i did good enough. I also have a healer but she wasn't as bad because i didn't have to lead everyone everywhere and hold aggro.
I dont know if im just being nostalgic or somenthing but as someone that have been playing wow for 10+ years i really think you should experience leveling your first character :)

I haven't played since the end of Burning Crusade. I want to play the instances and raids I missed. Is there an easy way to find parties to play those dungeons with or do players skip dungeons until the end game?

Can I ask you something? You say that in the class trial they let you to play a little bit woth the character. When the time run up and you end the story you keep the lvl 100 at the character right? And then you can make another one if you pay again. I wanna buy the 65€ pack and I don't know the details that's why I ask you.

So i'm considering returning to wow, i played up to the expansion of mists of pandaria. I remember having some characters at max lvl, which at the time i believe was 90. Were I to just purchase the subscription using that same account, would i have the ability to reach the max lvl cap and accses all end game content, or, would i have to purchase legion on top of the subscription to reach lvl cap etc?
So, just a few questions I have after this excellent video; can you have multiple characters on one account, if so, can you have characters on different servers, and, if you can only have one character per account, can you change servers, and can you delete your character and restart if you can only have one? I’m mostly curious to know if I can go back and change anything I might do that I end up disliking if I start playing.
You can have 12 characters per realm, 50 characters total across all realms, you can change servers but it costs money (used to be $25) do note however quite a few activities work cross realm, you can delete your characters. If you have any other questions I missed let me know, cheers!
