Finally got in a Tribute Legacy by G&L. I've owned several G&L and have generally been very pleased with them. This is the first of either 2 or 3 videos that will cover the tones clean, dirty and this video, which has a lot of the technical details
I just got a used one for 400.bucks and very happy with it.
Yeah, this is an actual gigging machine. I'm about to move overseas, had to sell off the collection, but I've been trying to find one of these to buy when I get there.
Always been intrigued and have never gotten hands on one. T cut is my fave usually but I love a humbucker or 3rd pickup too. I would be a boring lottery winner for sure.
Nice review -- I have a G&L tribute T-style, with P-90s, in that Irish Ale finish. A legacy (or perhaps a S-500) is definitely on my someday list...
Thanks for the video. Mine just arrived today! Same exact model - Irish Ale. This is my third G&L the others being a '80-something Rampage and a more recent Invader Deluxe. Only played this for an hour then watched your video. Pretty spot-on review, man. Solid guitar, giggable, great looks, nice sound and a perfect Strat-style addition to round out your collection. Might drop a Hot Rails in the bridge this weekend. Nato wood, huh? My Invader has same finish and I was told it was mohagony... Whatever.. I love my G&Ls!
just ordered an olympic white one. cant wait for it to arrive!
Nice. Stupid Deal of the Day today is $299. The current offering's fingerboard is listed as Brazilian Cherry.
Nella Yema I paid $870 for this guitar because Australia
I also paid 800$ here in Perú.

Hi! Great video. I have the same model in Sunburst. Do you think S-500 is much better? I was just thinking on changing it or maybe just have the PU changed for MFD's. Thanks
I am intrigued so these MFD's are pretty much the higher end of quality of ceramics, I love the colour, I am looking at a second guitar, what I like is Fender Player series , G&L , and Vintage Brand Trevor Wilkinson Vintage V6Mrbk V6 Boulevard Black which sounds and looks amazing,
Actually, this one isn't MFD, it is alnico. They make the same guitar in two configurations, both use US made pickups. The alnico 5 pickups are in the Legacy model, like in this video, and the MFD are in the S-500. I had MFD pickups in an ASAT Special, quite nice but very finicky to set up due to the sensitivity. Once setup (each pole piece), the sound was amazing.
Awesome demo video my friend:-)
Thanks, for $300, it's was a steal. The US pickups make all the difference.
Hi , nice video , I have a question for you I picked up the same model and the bridge pick up is a lot quieter than the mid and neck any ideas on how to go about finding what’s wrong . Ty
Do you need to raise bridge pickup?
i've searched and searched, by name and color, for a wood stain/dye this color.
Does anyone know where i can find it?
I like very much the Legacy tribute, as well as the S-500 but I don't like the glossy neck on the S-500. Does the Legacy also have a glossy neck? I hope not!
No it doesn't.
Nice Gutiar!!
I remember..... yeah yeahhhh, I remember! Good tone for that song. You mentioned this is made of NATO, the new squier cv 60’s is made of NATO as well. Hmm... it’s about $200 cheaper as well. Thoughts?
Lots of Asian made guitars are. Since it is a local wood, it is pretty common. It's actually a good tone wood. Much better than basswood, in that it isn't as soft, so the guitars don't dent up as easily as basswood bodies.
Dennis Brown I see. Thanks for the comment!
What song is that?
43mm nut? Are you sure about that? I think you may be confusing the Fullerton line with the Tribute line. Tribute guitars have a 41.275mm nut; Fullerton guitars are slightly thicker, almost 43mm.
Thanks for the review. Would you say it's more red or more brown?
Equal measures of both, to be honest.
Sounds great, what Amp are you using?
between a squier classic vibe 70s and this G&L which do you think is the best option?
G&L all day long.. I own both!
@@Dexterrjoe Thanks, I just bought one like the one in this video, I like how the classic vibe of the 70s natural looks, but I already have a standard squier and from what I read the legacy is something much superior. Cheers!
@@erickmorales2943 I also own the Irish Ale but S500
This one is Stupid deal of the day today! 299 Great price and I got 59 bucks rewards woot!!
that was most likely the "special" edition not this model.
@@2000SkyView It was this one ended with a ASAT Classic instead. www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/gl-tribute-legacy-electric-guitar/l10442
for beginner what is best legacy or s500?
I dont think it really matters, the only difference is going to be tonal. You have a slight advantage where you can set the pole heights on the S500. The Legacy has standard single coils which is more in line with a normal strat, tone wise and alnico pole pieces. Best to double check this, I dont own a G&L.
Stupid deal of the day today... again. Should I get one?
What weight is it?
