Refreshing to see a concise straightforward tutorial in extreme close up by an obvious expert! I deal with electronics, 3d printing and trying to build small machines and this crosses over perfectly. Thank you.
Nancy, thank you for this incredibly informative and helpful video!! I have been wondering how to figure out all these tiny bit sizes and match to wire! Practical (and entertaining!) teaching!
I just love you, can you please tell me where your tube settings video is???? I can’t find it.. Thank you, Autumn Michelle I’m trying to brush up on my skills ❤❤❤❤❤
In machine shop class we were taught about proper drill speeds by drill bit size and metal (you can google for charts), and the smaller the drill bit the faster the speed. For brass and aluminum and copper the speed was even higher than for iron or steel. With such a small drill bit, your flex shaft may not go fast enough on the highest speed. On the other hand, you have a lot of experience as a jeweler so I want to listen to you. Here's an article: store.curiousinventor.com/guides/drill_speed
Patrick Horgan Interesting! I will definitely read more. Thanks for the link. I just know what works for me and that fast speeds dull bits because they get overheated easily, due to their small size so maybe, there’s speeds for saving your bits and conversely, speeds for the most efficient drilling. Both could be true. Thanks for the information - it is appropriated!!!
I know! That was always my experience to. Small bit burnt up. But in the machine shop class, if I followed the charts, it always worked well and made a clean hole. Of course I used lube and didn't feed into the metal very quickly.
I have no idea what is happening with the video. It works on my phone and tablet. I'm so sorry. Must be something with UA-cam??? If I figure it out, I'll let you know., Thanks.
I am so sorry Roxanne. Others were (are?) having the same issue but, others aren't. Once I upload the video, it's in UA-cam's hands. I've never had this happen before and don't understand what the issue is. It works on my three devices: desktop, laptop and phone. Hopefully, it is working now. Sorry.
I have no idea why it's not working. It works on my laptop, desktop and phone. Others have had a similar problem. Maybe a UA-cam thing? If I find out, I'll let you know. Thank you.
I know I'm responding waaaaay after you commented, but I just had the same problem. It's perfect now! I am on a Mac laptop and was originally trying to watch using Safari. I switched to Chrome, and ta-da! Perfection!

Thanks Nancy. Its like a library of instant knowledge and tips from many years of experience. Very much appreciate your videos.

Thanks for the video. I am learning how to rivet. I was definitely having trouble opening the whole to get the wire to fit. I liked your suggestions.
Milá Nancy, vždy mě potěší a rozesměje, tvů originální tanec. Díky za návody. Višnja.
Nemáš zač. Děkuji!

I need to drill 2 holes into this brass ox piece to fit a 22 gauge jump ring threw. What size drill bit do I need to use?

Thank you Nancy!
Thank you Nancy! Is there an easy (ish..) way to get a broken file out on the metal if it breaks off inside? :( lol Ask me how I thought of that one!
Yes! I have the recipe on my website: www.nancylthamilton.com/resources/recipes/removing-drill-bits/. Hope this helps!
I can't get this video to play. Is there another way to watch it than on youtube?

I've tried quite a few times over a week, I can't get it to play either for more than a few seconds.
