I am just discovering him.... my father was friends with craig chaquico so I sort of discovered Russ through Craig. Both are just amazing guitar "composers"
If you have not heard Redwoods Through the Rockies you must. It's one of my most favorite albums of all time. I started listening to The Rippingtons when I first got in to Smooth Jazz back in 1994. And yes, I love Craig Chaquico too but he's more New Age.
Yes Christy, wow you have good taste -- I like Ritenour big time -- he's so correct and his choices are always very melodic and pretty. His speed and accuracy are quite impressive. The Larry and Lee album is one of my personal faves ; and Sax -- yes please! David Sandborn, Wayne Shorter, etc...
You can't go wrong with these guys no matter what album they've produced the last 30 years. I'm behind this CD and the one before this one. Any album they make is a must have if you're a true Rippingtons fan. My first CD I was introduced to was "Welcome To The St.James Club" and I've been a fan ever since. Rippingtons 4 ever!!
"I believe the power of love can change you... trust in the answers within, and listen to my wild tales... listen to my wild tales." Thanks for all the wild tales over the years Russ and Co.
Sounds like cross between The Rippingtons & Paul Hardcastle ! Fantastic song ; feels like your floating around in outer space .... Keyboard sounds are incredible . Followed Russ Freeman since Nocturnal Playground ! Smooth Jazz Virtuoso guitarist , composer , producer ; genius 🎷🙋♂️👏👍🏖
This is some of the best stuff I've heard from The Rippingtons in quite some time. Oh how I hope the rest of the album sounds this good. Nice job Russ and crew.
Love to see you come to Escondido For the Arts Center in Escondido California. Never get tired of your music. I have had the privilege of seeing you live.
With the shrinking number of smooth jazz radio stations in the U.S. are we to believe the musicians are or have run out material in the way of the great smooth jazz music is..????? I for one hope not ......but the voice of you the listeners in the markets without this great style of music should make your voice heard if you both like and want more...there are now only about a half dozen of these types of smooth jazz radio stations out there....and I ????work at one in the Southwest....but I was a listener and smooth jazz lover before I was able to work at one....So if you like Brian Simpson ,Peter White..The Rippingtons and so many more out there than please help bring this music back in the markets that so much deserve this SMOOOOTH JAZZ. Thank you.
#NOWandThen #SmoothJazz

I heard this song first during a full moon, just before I stopped into a Waffle House. It was there that I met a beautiful girl. We are going steady. So right- So fitting. Thanks, Rippingtons, you put me in the perfect mood to get smooth on that cutie.
This is a true story: I was walking down the street and I saw that cat's face floating in the air coming towards me. No, actually I think was just watching that dumb old film Big Trouble In Little China while drinking a can of beer. No matter. A tune and a mix, reminds me of hearing Club Paradiso and Black Diamond almost 20 years ago...yikes. Good melodies. Sometimes sound a little too alike. But are they? Hmm...Admire tunesmith skills one way or another. Maybe should listen to some more someday.
The best jazz group ever fills every day with joy.
Nice to see another album by the Rippingtons. They pretty much represent the musical side of my childhood that didn't suck.
So glad and lucky to have been around at the same time as the Rips...a real joy!

Russ Freeman is a guitarist, not a saxophonist. The person on the saxophone is Brandon Fields.
