I was 982. Thanks for the knowledge
Handy Andy you definitely do Beautiful work the stair and loft railings are fantastic you should give yourself a pat on your back
Thank you
Another part of the code is max 6" dia opening at the bottom, between the tread and railing. Your space looks a little over that.
I was thinking of a wood cap on the rails and you then mentioned a custom pine to top it off and give it that finished look.
I think it will make a big difference.
That is a bad ass gurad rail and staircase. Great job.
Thank you
Looking really good Andrew. Came out fantastic!
Thank you
Fantastic job Andrew. Look like Tiffany was a great helper too. I will love to see the video of you doing the angled railing and seeing how you fixed it, but UA-cam don't allow any cussing on the channels.😁. Your skills amazes me. Great job 👌
Thank you for watching
Wow Andrew, it's looks Awesome..You did a beautiful job..
Thank you
You did a awesome job on the stairs and railing!!
Thank you very much
Really nice Andrew. You have a lot of talent.
Thank you
Real nice staircase and railing. Glad tiffany was able to help you Andrew
Thank you for watching
Doggie says "Break time"...🙂@2:55
Great job Andrew. Really looks awesome
Thank you
Excellent work Andrew! It looks awesome!!
Thank you very much
Outstanding job.
Thank you
Very, very nice! That's allot of steel you went through there and I assume it was also very heavy! Again, nice job Andrew!
Yes very heavy...
Wowzer! 💖👍🥰
Looks beautiful 🤩
Thank you
One thing I would also suggest you guys can use is POR-15. it's a primer for metal but also totally eliminates any oxygen and water underneath it's coating, it completely eliminates everything that would cause the metal to rust more, you wouldn't need to worry about missing tiny areas you can't see with rust because it stops the metal from ever rusting again. It's often used on the underbodies of old cars to stop them from rusting when exposed to moist environments like snow and rain.
It came out fantastic! Great video
Thank you very much
WoW turn out amazing great job
Thank you very much
Looks beautiful! Great work as usual!
Thank you
Great job. Looks amazing
Thank you
Awesome job!!!
Thanks!!
WOW! Looks great!
Thank you
Hi, Andrew and Tiffany! I am watching this after the livestream. No apologies necessary. It was a fun video. I love these railings. So excited to see the pine finishes. Enjoy that huge quesadilla!
Sorry we had technical difficulties at the end, had to start another livestream to finish.
@@TKCL I found you. Y’all make my weekend.
Subbed. As a fabritor with a small shop I love seeing others getting it done .
Thank you, this was my first time ever building a house and I tried to tackle everything I could. I'm a big believer in trying something yourself even if you fail you've learned a valuable lesson.
Awesome job Andrew!!
Thank you
Wow I love it. Looks great
Thank you
Great job, looks nice.
Thank you
Fantastic! 😎👍
Andrew your work is amazing as usual. Because of my taste and I know everyone's taste is different. What I would have done on the staircase is somehow blend the main support post that goes from floor to platform up the wall. So it looks like there is no support post giving it the illusion that it's floating. You are a very talented person. 👌
I didn't know the design when I framed a year ago or I would have worked something into the actual wall.
I agree with you Andrew. If I remember your office loft was not in your original design which you wouldn't have thought about a staircase. Don't get me wrong it still came out 👍
Yep it was designed as a single story.
As I said earlier the stairs and railing are absolutely beautiful. Fantastic work Andrew very professional looking. Your new home is beautiful, love every thing you have done. ❤️❤️. 🌞🇨🇦
Thank you very much
Ditto
too cute. Doggie sitting watching daddy...🙂 @4:25
The railings look amazing. You might want to check the local building code. Not sure solid horizontal bars are allowed because they provide a way for kids to climb over a railing.
I checked that months ago, no ladder effect or code rules stating such. Just height, walkway width, distance from wall and member spacing requirements.
Great job Andrew. You know those custom iron railings could cost anywhere from 5 to $50,000. I'd say yours has to be on the higher end. Nice!
Thank you very much
That was a lot of work, but it looks so awesome!! Can't wait to see the final episode!! ❤
Thank you for watching
Awesome
Glade to see the railing is going up. I know you wear socks in the house and I actually had a dream of you slipping on those nice wooden steps. In the area, I live in Canada the top of the rail has to be 42 inches above the highest horizontal rail as they think kids will clime them
Wow that's really high
Looks nice!
Thanks
Great video. I wish I was talented like you. Keep the videos coming. Ruger is getting big by the way
Thank you for watching
Looks nice :)
The railing is beautiful and the wood cap will only make it more so. But I have to tell you I really miss when you bring us along as you are doing these projects. I know you think it's boring for your viewers, but most of your viewers enjoy watching you build stuff, even if it is repetitive. Congrats on getting all the metal work done.
Outstanding job. The railings are amazing.
Thank you very much
That railing looks amazing! The angle iron on the bottom and sides, really trims out the opening nicely!
I can’t wait to see the pine top rails installed!
Thank you
Wow! What's also awesome, is I see that I can now comment while watching on my Roku. Just pick up my phone open UA-cam. Hit connect that pops up and type my message. Idk, but thats neat, lol! I was always left out when on Roku but not anymore. Anyway fantastic Andrew. Also thanks for the review on the chainsaw sharpener, just what I needed to see.
Glad to hear things are improving with the apps. Thanks for watching
Morning Andrew, stairs really look good, nice work. Although, I would say with all the railings, the concept of floating stairs is somehow lost..... 😉
Well not on the underside, sadly code requires railings here.
Beautiful! Definitely agree that the pine cap will really kick it up a notch for not that much more cost and work.
I sure hope so.
I been using the same primer . It really does leave a nice finish with the top coat
It really does well to fill in the voids.
Nice
Look who it is!
Wow the stairs and railing are beautiful! I bet you are glad the metal work is done. You did an awesome job as usual you are so talented!!!
Yes I've got a ton of other projects waiting for me.
Absolutely loved watching you get these metal stairs fabricated and I am looking forward to seeing the final product once the pine caps are made and installed. I wanted to take a second to thank you for being so informative and educational in your videos. A lot of content creators simply video themselves doing projects for entertainment. What I truly appreciate about your channel is that you take the time to explain your thought process on the things you design and build, and then offer tips and tricks that you learned along the way.
Very happy to hear that you enjoy the content.
That's looks really nice for what its worth I'm very proud of you and Tiffany for doing such a great job on your house.
Thank you very much
Wow looks great. It turned out better then I could have imagined your are a talented individual.
Thank you Kevin
Andrew it always amazes me how talented you are. I also have to say seeing Tiffany help you with the railing makes me think of my wife helping me through our remodels over the years. I have said this before and maybe more than once but you both are so blessed to be building your dream property. It is looking beyond wonderful. Take care and can't wait to see the wood top caps.
Thank you very much for watching.
Looks fantastic, you must be so proud of yourself and rightly so👍
Thank you very much
Andrew, Your stairs and railing look awesome you do great work.
Thank you very much
Looks great and the wood caps will really bring it altogether....great work Andrew!
Thank you
Wow. The stairs and railings are amazing. The black looks great with all the other black metal in the house. Awesome video as usual.
Thank you very much
I've been looking forward to seeing this part of the build.
Thank you for watching
Totally awesome look and build! What a fantastic job Andrew!
Thank you very much
Great job Andrew and Tiffany ❤
Thank you
Amazing. Great work, and a great look for your house. Keep the videos coming.
Thank you very much
Looks great, all of it! Great job!!! That bed for Chris or Cash?🤣
Lol whoever pays the most rent.
That’s a lot of hard work but it turned out nice!
Thank you
Looks great!!! All of your add-on projects look like they were all part of your original plan and design it melds so well.
Thank you very much
Very impressive, looks amazing!! Really ties together well with the rafters, excellent job!! 🙂
Thank you
You have done a fantastic job on the stairs and railings. I am so glad that the railing on the loft is done, I can not take heights and I had to fast forward your videos from the loft in the past. You should be so proud of what you have accomplished.
Thank you very much
I thought you'd use cable, but I think it turned out beautifully. Really like the wood top idea. Great job.
I wanted cable Tiffany wanted tubing. Wife won! 😂
Dang.... That came out looking really nice 👍🏽..good that I waited for the end of the video because my OCD was wigging out at the top railing being warped 🤷🏽♂️🫣
Lol, it's bugging me too
@@TKCL 🤷🏽♂️ it's life
@@TKCL just don't look at it 🫣
Andrew, I have to say, I have binged this bull playlist over the last few weeks and I have to tell you that I am more than impressed with your work!
One word of advice I would suggest if you plan on doing more metal work, get a cheap auto spray gun (literally the $20 harbor freight one) and some epoxy primer and 2 part pains like automotive. it will do several things for you. 1. Save you tons of time, 2. Save you tons of money versus rattle cans, 3. Teach you how use a spray gun (which is super easy once you finally do it) 4. Get you a new toy to play with.
I just see you doing future metal projects. Not only can you use it for metal, you can use it for many other things as well. You might already have one but watching you spray paint with rattle can is a very long process and you could have saved tons of time and a lot of money and used a superior product that chemically bonds to metal (epoxy primer)
Just thought I would share some of my knowledge with you on that front. You don’t need expensive paint guns to get great finishes on these projects.
Anyway sorry for the book here. Amazing work and I am really loving the channel! Can’t wait to see what is coming :)
Appreciate your binge watching! I agree I need to learn a sprayer, I'm always painting something.
Andrew that stairs & railing system is iggy azalea-FANCY. AMAZING WORK
Thank you very much
That house looks amazing with the railing. I am happy for you guys. You save a lot of money doing the work yourself. 🤠
Thank you very much
Beautiful job. Enjoy watching your building projects. When I saw the horizonal railings at the top, I remembered my young son (30 years ago) climbing anything he possibly could. Hopefully any young children won't be allowed up the stairs. Keep up the great work!
No children here, all is well. With that said children on stairs already worries me.
Amazing job on that railing...and I can see the caps in my head...they will really bring everything together!
Thank you
Andrew all of your railing goes so well with the trusses it looks amazing Job well done 👍
Thank you
Andrew, you have done an outstanding job on the stairs and railing. I can relate to your frustration with building the angled hand rail down the stairs. Helped build a wooden rail system once and it was a pain to get all of the angles and to align and maintain the required distancing. You have knocked this one out of the park. 🎉
Thank you
WOW! The railings look fantastic! I am not the best on heights, so without rails was making me antsy! You know I have patiently been waiting for this part for ages! Okay, maybe not so patiently! LOL!
All safe now
Another outstanding job Andrew it looks great and expect the finished project will look even better.
Thank you very much
Stunning. Simply stunning.
Thank you
Pretty nice work but now that I've watching you work for a good while I wouldn't expect anything else 👍
Thank you
The short videos make everything look too easy! Lol
Looks great!
Yeah I had so much repeat footage it would have made the video boring.
👍👍
Beautiful railing, however, in my neck of the woods completely against code because it’s climbable. That’s a baby death trap…we’d have to do them vertically.
You must be in Canada? Nothing in the residential building code against horizontal railings. Wording was changed in the early 90s about laddering effect. Of course local code can always go against it.
That looks great great job although it's almost killed you great job
Lol thanks.
I thought I'd love it but I don't like it much at all. I think it's because it is horizontal instead of vertical. That means as you walk around it on the first floor, it creates diamonds from the handrail and the rail on the edge of the loft. You don't see these diamonds as you walk up and down the stairs. Adding the wood will be a nice touch.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Awesome, I've been waiting for these episodes. Did you learn welding as you went or do you have skills before you began this?
I started teaching myself to weld years ago, still learning all the time.
Great project that turned out incredible--strong work! Do you by chance have a list of materials details you can share? You mentioned 3/4" square tubing for the horizontal spindles, but what wall thickness? Can you share more info on the materials you selected? I presume it's all hot-rolled.
No list, built as I went along. The tubing was 11ga because that's all I could find. I wanted 14ga to save weight.
@@TKCL Was the square tubing for the uprights 1-1/2" in size? And the angles you used...3x3x3/16"?
Correct
And come to think of it, I was able to get 14ga for the railings. I forgot I had to get it ordered from another supplier.
@@TKCL Cool...thanks for the information!
The tops are all bent and bowed.
You must be crossed eyed
How much did this actually save when you factor in the cost of the equipment/tools needed?
Still saved thousands, but I don't factor the tools in as I've already owned and used them for dozens of other jobs. They have already paid for themselves. Nothing I used was a one time use or stair job specific tool.
Looks awesome. Where are you gonna put the zip line?
When you were talking about the expanding and shrinking and all that. I still have the same problem but I’m getting better. Good welders or experience welders learn how to tack it correctly so that doesn’t happen. I watched a bunch of videos and I’m getting there but it’s a lot more difficult than it seems. But your ass looks pretty straight so you got it figured out. Well companies use jigs to do it so the pieces can’t move but it’s definitely hard to get everything straight and he did a great job
Big problem was I couldn't weld all this bolted in place. No welding in the house 😬
@@TKCL pfft. Who built the whole house, any damage you do Welding you already know how to fix. 😂😂😂
but how did you figure the picket spacing? what’s the recipe??
Code requires no more than 4 inches between them. That's so a babies head can't fit through.
what's the height of the ceilings in your great room? side and peak of cathedral
Side walls are 12ft, peak is 16ft. If building a true second floor your going to want higher side walls.
@@TKCL i'm building a house with a loft and my side walls are 9 and peak is 17 and i'm concerned on how the room will fit the staircase
How’s the plasma cutter holding up?
Excellent, zero issues. All I've done is change a couple of tips, a normal wearable part.
