I understand what you mean, but imo I think it might be because she prefers to remain ‘independent’ and NOT be massively publicized by the media, management teams, restrictions that go along with this, etc. But I do agree 👍 that she’s a very talented vocalist. I’ve been listening to her for years now (I’m 70ish and 💕 ALL genres of music and always will).
Such a beautiful voice. She never fails to deliver a new and amazing version with any song she does. My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting her and her husband at a meet and greet before a concert; as beautiful as her voice is, she as a person, and them as a couple, were even more beautiful! Down to Earth, friendly, and personable. The show itself was phenomenal. I highly recommend if you ever get a chance to see and hear her live, take that opportunity!!!
As a Philly boy who has loved this song forever, I never thought anybody but Teddy, Harold and the Bluenotes could ever do it justice. (And that includes the dishwater version by Simply Awful Red). Well, I shoulda known if anybody could, it would be my girl Morgan. Ooo, how that girl can make a song ooze outta her like Tabasco Honey! Just lovin it!!
First time listening to this. I always have apprehension when hearing a cover of such a classic and Morgan and the crew hit an in the park grand slam. I stand up and applaud you 👏.
She shuts down my ability to speak. I once shared a street corner with her before a PMJ concert. I looked over and sure enough, it was Morgan. I could not say a word. Probably a good thing. I would just gush.
@@chipgaasche4933 , the fact that you felt your opinion about her voice was superior to another's, and took the trouble to let us know, was indeed an occasion for mild amusement. The fact that you then took umbrage at that amusement and needed to lash out more harshly reveals a sad, wounded, pathetic aspect that should have been apparent to us in your first remark. No one wants to harm or hurt you, and we're sorry you didn't enjoy the performance. Of course you don't need our permission, or anyone's, to express your distaste. I recognize Lauren Molina from The Skivvies on the cello - another talented artist with whom Morgan has often collaborated. It doesn't get much better than what's in this room!
Ms. James never fails to please regardless of whatever genre of music she sings. This song is a timeless classic that she shines brightly in performance. Thanks a million and keep on, keeping on!🥰
Those clicking on the thumbs down simply have no appreciation of Morgan's amazing talent and vocal range. I fell in in love with her voice from the first song I heard. Her vocal styles are unbelievable. After hearing this, go listen to Barbie Girl, then The Beatles' White Album. Bravissimo.
One of the most amazing vocalist I had ever had the privilege of listening to. If you have not listened to her do the White Album sit aside a rainy day and get ready for a treat.
Morgan James is a real treasure and it makes me happy to see her and to hear her beautiful music. She is extremly beautiful, her voice is magic and in my opinion she is a gift for everyone who loves good music! Thank you for sharing your talent! Morgan James, I love you! Not like my girlfriend, but you know, there are many ways, to love somebody! Greetings from Germany!
As Motown born and raised. I call it crap. What is the deal with singers doing that warbleing like at 1:30 and at the end? Can't they hit the first note in that phrase, so they have to sneak up on it? Even Harold Melvin was a bit guilty in the original. Ruined what could have been my favorite song ever. This group needs a couple of more voices, sounds thin in the background.
@@DDS029 You grew up in the cradle of some great music. Sorry you didn't enjoy this. Have you be seen the documentary about the Funk Brothers titled Standing In the Shadow of Motown? I'll bet you'd love that.
Morgan James never, EVER, miss the target!!! Everything she does is awesome, brilliant, refreshing. She chooses the rigth songs and always takes them to a whole new dimension. Cheers from Brazil!!!
I'm sincerely impressed with what I've seen from Morgan James so far. Those of you who disliked the video, I really have to wonder if you were determined to do so, regardless of how well she and her fellow musicians did. This is a really nice cover.
I'm new to listening to Morgan but whatever genre I've heard her sing, she pulls it off beautifully with a genuine and honest feel and expressiveness. Wow. I'm a new fan for sure!
I love how deep she dives delivering songs. Maybe such technique and voice make it easier. But it is still brave, emotions really showing. That itself makes me emotional listening to her. ❤
Same here, too. I've loved her for years, this performance is a new find for me, and this song by Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes is one of my favorites, too.
Morgan I look forward to spending part of my vast fortune I’ve accumulated as a school teacher lol, on every thing I can find that you’ve recorded. Thank you for sharing your voice.
I don't know who does the arrangements for Ms. James but absolutely flawless with wicked licks at just the right time complimenting a superb vocal. Damn fine harmony too!
That was fine rendition of a classic soul song. Takes courage to take these songs on and musicality to come out on top as Morgan did this time and as she does, time after time.
I was stunned by her performance, here... And then I discovered that she had covered the Entire "White Album" by the Beatles, even covering Revolution No. 9. And I gotta say, it's Awesome, and Very, very weird!
Not only was this a fantastic demonstration of Morgan’s talent, but it also speaks volumes about her husband Doug Wamble’s talent as well. I loved the harmony at the end, so smooth and connected
This is song by Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes featuring Mr Teddy Pendergrass The 70's Lot of Music!!! Morgan James sounds great never heard of her till now.
I swear, that woman has the best natural voice I've ever heard. Shew.
How can she have a voice like that and not be a HUGE star? I just don't understand this world sometimes.
I am sure she has been "picked up" sort to speak.

She turned down a big record deal. She wants to do her own thing with her husband.
Yea...theres thousands of them really....its a lottery...being at the right place at the right time
Cause she is a comet, by now everybody knows a comet just keeps on coming.
You have this old man crying, fantastic cover of a beautiful song
Wow. She is so talented and gorgeous. Simply amazing
Came across this video and can't believe Morgan James is not a household name. Spot on every time. So enjoyable. Cheers

Simply Red? This song is much older and the original sung by Teddy Pendergrass is far superior than Simply Red's version.
