I also think you give him to much credit because when you have been on top and you suppose to be that talented then he should have been able to navigate this battle at ease. I think the advice you give would be great if that really was the problem. Kendrick let it be known that he wanted to be the king of rap. Drake took that personal and started to talk down on kendrick, Big Mistake. Then kendrick warned drake several times to keep it keep it at rap because if he took it there so would kendrick. Hell kendrick even let drake slide the first time drake mentioned his wife name. He literally warned him twice after that yet still drake being drake did it again. Drake slept with lil Wayne girl and thats supposed to be his homie. Yall keep making excuses for drake and that's bullshit. That’s the problem, we actually seen Meek come up in the game battle rapping on the streets and so forth. We don’t see Drake’s come up he went from acting to straight rapping. He gave us back to back and all of the sudden he’s the man. That’s really messed up

He underestimated his opponent. Kendrick lives and breathes hip hop. He studies it and he also sat down and had dialect with those that came before him. Kendrick absorbed everything the greats gave him. It wasn’t about money to Kendrick it was the love of the sport. His love of the community. Because Kendrick loved the community, invested into the community and that’s why the community loves him back. That’s why he can take a hiatus for 5 years and come back and not lose any of the love the community has for him. But that does not mean Kendrick wasn’t tapped into what was going around in the industry. Drake thought Kendrick was somewhere twiddling his thumbs. But he was mastering self and his penmanship. Sometimes you have to step back and look where you can improve your craft. You want to grow and stay on top with that Gomes work on self and your craft.

Pop has always outsold rap and drake has included a more and more dominant pop element to his raps over the years and it makes his sales soar coz people that don't necessarily listen to hip pop in general still bop and listen to drake's songs too.
Kdot has said he has no interest whatsoever of adding more pop to his raps, but that still doesn't stop him from selling at very high mainstream level.
