    Here's a quick added tip: Collect the bacon grease in one jar, with all the little brown bits. Store it in the refrigerator.
    Then, when the jar is full, place the jar of cold bacon fat, uncovered, in a pot on the stove with about two inches of
    water, and heat it slowly on the stove top until it is again melted, golden and lovely. Then, place either a coarse
    coffee filter, or, in a pinch, a single white kitchen paper towel, into your kitchen strainer, and pour the bacon grease
    into the filter, allowing it to flow into a second, clean jar. When it has all flowed through ( and it will take about ten
    minutes for it to all finish dripping, ) cover the new jar of clean bacon grease and put it back into the fridge.
    When it hardens into a soft, white paste about the consistency of Crisco vegetable shortening, you have your perfect
    cooking fat. You can fry eggs, saute vegetables, even use it instead of olive oil or butter. Use it for cooking Hash
    Browns, or French Toast. MMMMM. And, since you would otherwise be throwing it away, it is essentiallly FREE !
    Oh yeah - Corn Bread Muffins made with Bacon Grease instead of oil or shortening - pure heaven !

      It works far better if you leave the fat solid. Just remove it from the fridge and use a spoon to pull off the nice white fat and leave the junk in the bottom layer. Then* reheat it

      That is something more more people seem to be saying nowadays as we are finding out more and more about the everyday peanut oils and other oils that we use that maybe the healthier choice is the natural greases from me and oils. I am actually learning right now how to do tallow because I have a friend that owns a barbecue business and it gives me access to tons and tons of smoked brisket fat. And recently I've been using the brisket fat to oil My Pan before I do any kind of cooking like stir fry or hash browns or eggs it gives it a really good flavor and it's pretty much free. Lard is healthier than canola, corn, soy, sunflower oils, etc., basically what they call "vegetable oil". They are more accurately known as "seed oils." The seed oils are a cause of arterial inflammation due to their chemical structure. Lard is natural and is only risky if the user consumes large amounts of carbohydrates and seed oils along with it.

    • @TsquareTalk
      @TsquareTalk  Рік тому +2

      I never knew that I know we are hearing more and more that true lard bacon grease or beef tallow is not as bad for you as they would lead you to believe. I do find it strange though how it hardens up which kind of makes me wonder is that hardening up in your arteries. But then some might say no because it never goes into your arteries your body takes what it needs through the digestive liner in your stomach and on the way down. But you got me This is definitely not an area I'm an expert on. I just love cooking and I love eating and I can tell you frying some eggs or potatoes and a little bit of lard really taste good. Also if it's beef tallow it's inexpensive because you can pretty much get it for almost free at the barbecue shops. Thank you so much for watching and commenting Dave. Please be sure to keep in touch my friend.

    • @DaveBowman345
      @DaveBowman345 Рік тому

      @@TsquareTalk Just a quick reply on how arterial inflammation works… LDL cholesterol is not bad like they say. In fact, it is necessary for normal bodily functions. If we removed all of it from our body, we would die within minutes. Anyway, the “seed oils” oxidize normal healthy LDL. The particles, which should be light and buoyant, become small and relatively hard when they become oxidized due to over-consumption of seed oils (which are on the edge of rancidity when we swallow them). The small, dense LDL particles get embedded in the artery wall which causes inflammation. This signals blood cholesterol to come to the rescue by creating a sort of bandaid over the inflamed area. This “bandaid” is what they call plaque. But it’s trying to heal the “injury”, not clog your artery. It’s like every time we see a house on fire what else do we usually see? Firemen. But then the firemen (in my little story) get blamed for causing the fire. So… if there was not so much oxidizing seed oils in our systems we wouldn’t have half the artery inflammation we currently see. All cholesterol is normal, good, and healthy as long as we refrain from feeding ourselves oxidizing seed oils. They are a curse to the American diet.

      ❤️ That's a very good point. But unfortunately you know how the average person is out there They see that little black spot or that little brown spot and all the sudden. They don't want to eat it they think it's dirty. People don't know flavor anymore. That's why we have to put food coloring on our oranges We have to put wax over our apples We have to put chemicals in our food. Essentially we have to ruin the food so that people think it's still good. It's like a good ribeye now you get that good ribeye and it already started aging a little bit those are probably the best steaks but yet spoiled culture Don't feel the same way. Thank you for watching and commenting I hope you have a great weekend my friend

      Silver Wolverine I love bacon, If you put some of the bacon grease in the pan before you cook your eggs it carries that flavor over great.

      Yes, it tastes better it's probably healthier who knows it's definitely cheaper especially right now. I don't spend much time in the summer making it though mostly a winter thing but I've got like eight bottles processed already. Thank you for watching and commenting Pierwylde.

      True it's not yet it's just when people see it if it's nice clear White they just seem to trust it more as opposed to if there's little black bits at the bottom of it. But it's not going to hurt anything I don't think. As always thank you for watching and commenting my friend.

    Do you just throw in the bacon or do you cut out the fat and just use that?

    • @TsquareTalk
      @TsquareTalk  2 роки тому +1

      If you keep it in the refrigerator it will harden and then you'll just have to cut little pieces of the bacon grease off and throw it in a frying pan when you cook something. Some people will keep it on a counter and then it will stay more liquid and they'll just pour a little bit in the frying pan almost like oil. I have recently started using beef tallow which is the same as bacon grease but it's beef grease. I use a smoked brisket fat that I get a good deal on pretty much free and I cook it down on low heat until it liquefies and then I jar it in bottles. It gives an awesome flavor on eggs potatoes most dishes. Thank you so much for watching and commenting Anthony please take a quick minute and hit that subscribe button to help the channel grow. Can this be used in tortillas? Instead of lard?

      Lard is pretty flavor free...bacon grease is going to give anything that bacon flavor. So if you don't mind the added flavor, then go for it.

      WoW, I did not know that was possible. I usually just use a pickle jar and if it breaks it breaks however I've taken a lot of flack for doing that so I was in the impression it couldn't happen. That is really good to know I can actually say that next time. Thank you so much for watching and commenting Isthatso Notsofast.
